D prospects are nice and fill a need, but this team hasn't had a legit #1 center in forever.

Patrick is that.

I can't pass on an opportunity to get a Getzlaf level center.

I'll take a Schiefele level center (Glass) and keep the additional assets.

Elias Pettersson has a higher upside then Patrick and has proven more to this point. If you want a chance at a legit #1 C then you don't trade up.

I think there's going to be a run on defensemen somewhere in the early teens. I'd be surprised if the best guy on the board at #21 wasn't a forward.

Could you see Mittelstadt falling that far?

I doubt it, scouts seemed soooo high on him a few months ago, i doubt that changed THAT dramatically at the combine.

Suzuki might fall though, Yamamoto likely there, Tolvanen, Andersson might fall, Kostin.

Yeah those are the guys I think could slip. Especially with the news that Tolvanen didn't get admitted to BC. Might throw Rasmussen on that list as well, but hopefully he gets taken before we have a chance to even consider him. :help:

still believe we will pass on brannstrom if he's there at 21.

great skill but size and 2 way play still a concern. i like the kids possession numbers and if you always have the puck, you dont have to play defense i guess. he's an overall great looking player if hes slightly bigger. worry about ability to play against larger nhl players and injuries/durability would be my concern

just not sure if i can pull the trigger.

if kostin is still there i could go with the big russian. realistically, he may be but my gut says he's gone by 21. he's my 2nd choice.

if he's gone, i probably pass on brannstrom and hope like heck someone falls. i think there will be fallers.

my realistic top 3 continues to be. ( all 3 could well be there at 21)

1. andersson- my clear cut top choice.
2. kostin- would love a shot a the big russian power forward.
3. brannstrom- 3rd choice but some reservations. if he's the BPA left, he's my guy.

still absolutely love lias andersson. he's the type of player you win with. he's an impact type pivot. developed 2way game, great skater, dangerous shot, leadership qualities, high motor and high end hockey smarts. he's my guy if he's there.

Deal Raanta for #35. Take the best player you can at 21, then take Jokiharju at 35.

Just out of curiosity, what value do you put on Oscar Lindberg? Why wouldn't VGK have taken Rantaa and traded him for #35 instead if they could? I wouldn't expect Lindberg to fetch that or am I mistaken?

Lindberg got taken for his on ice value, not his trade value. Vegas do need a team aswell :D

What's the outlook on the 3rd round? Any fallers that the Rangers can capitalize on?

EDIT: We don't pick again unitl the 4th round

Semi-realistic dream scenario:
Trade Raanta for #35 (sweeteners on either side depending on the goalie market)
Trade down from #21 to the 25-31 range and add a ~mid 2nd.

Proceed to pick 3 out of these players: Yamamoto, Brännström, Vaakanainen, Ikonen, Lodnia, Jokiharju, Timmins, Salo, JAD, POJ, Boqvist, Lipanov, Chekovich, Lind, Heponiemi, Thomas, Brook or Samberg.

Probably missed a few but something like that :)
