If no one big drops to us and someone is big on moving up I'd gladly move down and pick up a 2nd or similar barring a team offers it. Example if we can drop to 16-18 range so 5-7 picks and get a 2nd I do it. We'd still be able to walk away with one of Kostin, Andersson, Necas, Tippett, Tolvanen, Suzuki, Rasmussen, or Vesalainen all who one could argue wouldn't be bad picks or even good ones at #11.

The NHL released the official draft order today. The Kings own the following picks:

1st round: 11th
2nd round: 41st
3rd round: 72nd
4th round: 103rd, 118th (originally from MTL, acquired from DAL for Ben Bishop)
5th round: 134th, 138th (acquired from TBL in the Ben Bishop trade)
6th round: 165th
7th round: None (traded to Tampa Bay in the Ben Bishop trade)

Hot dayem from the looks of these highlights this dude should go top 3 my goodness! Whether or not he ever becomes an NHL regular if we draft him he already has more skill then 90% of the dudes on this roster.

I love him for his obvious high-end skill, but dude is a beanpole and goes down at a sneeze. That's his 'wart' if you will. But on pure talent, he's a high pick, and I'm all for that swing if he's available, since most players at our spot will be similar (at least one big issue).

I have a dumb reason for wanting them to pick not necessarily a North American player, but someone who will be playing in the CHL next year, because I subscribe to the OHL and WHL live stream packages (and yes, I realize the CHL includes the Q but Nico seems to be the only 1st round lock from there, and I doubt we have to worry about that).

Yes, I know that's incredibly stupid.

Everyone looks pretty skilled or even really skilled, till you start playing Men.

I Like seeing the young guys play at the AHL level better than JR's.

That Pettersson would be by far our best bet is what I've been preaching for several months now. Everyone was and is head over heels with Suzuki and been saying the wrong player to be chasing. I'd personally take Pettersson at #3 and arguably top 2 if I was safe in my position as a GM. I believe he'll be the best player in this draft and if we are lucky enough to have him drop to us I'll be beyond ecstatic. I've posted analytics and numbers before, but what he has done and shown is crazy. Guy put up better numbers than F. Forsberg in his D+1 year and by a fair bit. He also isn't nearly as skinny or low weight as most thought he was. It isn't a wart anymore as what he was most recently measured at isn't bad at all for a draft year player. Great no, but far from an issue yet alone when possessing the skill and ability he does. Also he played in SWE 1 which includes full grown men. Sadly I see little to no chance he makes it to us at #11 anymore as he's been rising with each ranking that is released.

Luckily regardless we'll walk with a very solid player.

I envision the Coyotes or Red Wings taking Pettersson. He might go as high as #5 to Vancouver. Can't see him dropping to 11. They would be so fortunate to have that happen.

LOL was just thinking the same thing dude looks like he'll fall over with a whiff from a puck. But for sure he has skill. Apparently didn't do well in the U18 tourney but who cares I'd take a gamble on this dude. A lot of people are saying Suzuki but regardless who we choose it'll take a few years for any of these kids especially this draft to ever develop anyways.

I'm not sold on Petterson. I have a feeling he can be the next Filip Forsberg or bust completely. I really want Suzuki and feel he is the safest pick to become a top 6 player in the future

Its hard to say from the highlights how well Petterson will play in the league. Most of his goals are breakaways, which either means he is very fast and gets a lot of breakaways or because he plays in a below NHL league, breakaways are more common. From the highlights alone, it doesn't seem like he is a puck possession guy like Kopitar and would succeed better on a rush team like the Rangers or Calgary.

It seems like he has a better offensive game, but some of the reports on Foote just bring back awful memories of Teubert. The same stupid scouting report cliches. I'm sorry, with the Kings total lack of talent in the system I'd rather roll the dice in round 1 than go the safe route.

No I 100% agree. I pretty much at all times go for the 'offensive defenseman' over the defensive one in round 1 because they have the IQ and skating to understand what forwards are doing. Guys that are simply defensive d-men at the lower level are that because they typically aren't skilled enough to think, skate, or play with the puck at a high level. THere are rare exceptions, but just about every stellar defensive d-man I can think of was an offensive (or two way) guy at the junior level.

LoL, if Blake selects Foote, I'm gunna take a vacation from Kings fandom 'till Blake is fired! :yo:

Foote has a very high Hockey IQ, don't know why people are talking about him like he lacks it.

The Knock on Foote, he is not going to score a bunch of points from the blue-line. It's not his game.

Reminds me a lot of Mitchell/Forbort type of Defender.
