Zboril got schooled on Erie's 3rd goal, tried to hit the Otter player with a hip check, but completely missed looked real bad.

Zboril looks brutal.

He just got left for dead on the Otters' 3rd goal (tried standing up the goal-scorer at the blueline but he missed) he also doesn't look either big or fast out there either.

Very concerning for me when I only get to see him a 5-6 times this year and he has been poor every time.

Chabot struggling too, beaten for Erie's 4th goal and just took a penalty to stop a breakaway.

I can see now why Strome has such ridiculous stats --he gets to be the triggerman on an insanely good PP and has linemates that seem to always have and cycle the puck.

Otters completely embarrass the Seadogs and Flynn's face was wearing it on those close ups of the coach. Do not in any way, shape or form recognize the players that are wearing the blue uniforms tonight. Game one they looked to be out of sync and struggling in a number of areas. Tonight has been a a debacle. Positioning and passing is atrocious and the compete level nonexistent. Joseph was the lone player who did anything note worthy in the early going. He appeared ready to play. Have not seen one single game by SJ this season that has been remotely close to what they have offered up in this tournament. It's not one or two players that merely have been bad, it's the entire team that is beyond bad. Bewildering.

One of either Seattle or Saint John will be going home following their head to head last game. For a tournament that was thought to have 4 compable teams in a pick'em tournament has certainly not lived up to its billing. Otters have looked extremely impressive through their first two games. The match up with Windsor for first place should be a dandy.

The only issue I have with this is that you didn't like Zboril to begin with, so it's not like he's starting on even ground with you.

Like I said, I will wait and see what happens once Zboril gets in a pro system with former D-men like Dean and Cassidy (would love to see the B's add a guy like Craig Ramsay to work with all the young D prospects).

I was at the gym and came home to find the score was 12-3 and Zboril got tossed. I went back and watched the play and it was a chicken**** call by the ref. Foegle got hit by one SJ D and then Zboril tagged him (not bad at all) right after he got rid of the puck behind the net. Erie was already on the PP and he called Zboril for a rough (horrible call). Apparently, Zboril told him what he thought of the call on the way to the bench and got tossed. Can't really blame him in this case.

I'm not a huge fan of the Q, but I think both Zboril and Lauzon will be good ones with a little seasoning.

At the time of the draft I did prefer Chabot a bit over Zboril, but I liked both of them and was happy when the Bruins select Zboril, but while Chabot as developp really well since then, Zboril is just about the same to me. I have to agree with Colt, Zboril is always bad when I see him, I still hope for something, but I have more confidence in Lauzon than Zboril right now.

Edit: Couldn't see the game live, will watch it in replay later tonight, but saw on the boxscore without the PP it was a 7-5 games (yes I know PP are part of the game), saw that because Chabot was at +1 and was saying to myself how in hell a guy playing half the game of a 7 goals lost could finish in the positive lol

Zboril has an edge to his game which I love and his skills are plus all over

It will really come down to two areas

1. On ice decision-making
2. Discipline/control

My view he's in a fantastic organization for learning how to play defense

Many of the key guys in his soon to be professional life are defenseman- Dean, Cassidy, Sweeney

Not a lock but I see a more probable than not he's a good NHL defenseman

I think it was Bourque who said it takes to be around 27 years old and hundreds of games before you really feel comfortable

I'm intrigued at this kid and looking forward to him at Camp

I completely disagree with your generic Chabot has developed "really well" and Zboril is "just about the same" and "always bad when I see him". The kid put put up 41 pts in 50 games, and according to other posters who watch, has been very solid on D. So, you must be exceptionally unlucky in your viewing habits.

I thought the same but summer is coming and let's all get along

My CHL source disputes his assessment as well but it's a message board and here to have fun and talk hockey

Chabot`s offensive game has developed into one that is sublime at the Junior level and I suspect he`ll put his pts up at the next level but if your watching his overall game, like most D-man prospects, he has a ways to go in his zone, he leans towards the neutral zone far too soon too often

Either way, Chabot will always get more ink, has a way sexier game than Zboril, I haven`t particularly liked either of their games in this tourney TBH. Watching Chabot play is entertaining, the guy has "it" when it comes to bringing a fan out of his seat but right now, he`s not using his teammates nearly enough and Zboril has been caught out of position on a few occasions himself but let`s also not ignore the fact that this Dog`s team is one that is deep and talented who, as a whole, have been disappointing so far, going to be an awfully quick Mem Cup for them by all appearances

Dan with the "can't we all just get along" post?

Hell has officially frozen over.

It is just a message board, but as you have also said, people see what they want to see. Don't think that statement has ever been truer than it is with Zboril. Personally, I can't wait to see him and Lauzon in camp this Fall.

On the comment with how long it can take for a D man to get established in the league, the rushing of players onto rosters before that are ready has become common place on so many teams. It is a result of needing cost effective options in a cap world where significant amounts of money is invested in top tier palyers and little to no room for the so called proven veterans or role players as they demand greater amount of dollars. Do believe the strategy is short sighted and on balance does more harm than good for young players breaking into the league.

Preference is to have players like Zboril, Lauzon and others to spend significant time in the minors to learn the pro game. There are always exceptions to the rule and a few upper tier prospects, like McAvoy in the Bruins case, who are much better prepared for the pro game. Really hope the Bruins take the time to develop before deploy with prospects. Think it serves both the player and the organization much greater likely hood of success in the long term.

Agreed and regarding McAvoy, I would suspect had all those injuries not occurred with the big club, he would have been left where he started, in Providence, helping the PB`s during their nice playoff march

That's how I see it, Chabot came from a quiet good skating defensmen to an all star offensive dmen who control the play at will and play the most minute in the league. Zboril, still have lots of tool he can't seems to put toghter, his decision making is still bad and his hability with the puck still is very on and off every games. He'll do something great one shift just to do something terrible two shifts later and the great doesn't outnumber the terrible as much as we would like. For the pts, he plays on a power house with an offensive role, Bourque have the same role on offense (ok minutes + 2nd PP) and he outproduce Zboril and nobody will tell you Bourque as offensive upside at the next level imho.

Agree with you, Chabot won't be able to play like that at the NHL level, but he's not a guy who always played like that, he was a steady quiet dman the year of his draft, he just developp his offensive game that much being able to maximise his strenght and do the best he could with them. He will need to do less in the pro and while we never know with prospect I think he will succed with that.

Chabot new style of play will defenetly put the fans out of their seat and the casual fan will see Chabot 10 times before Zboril, that's true and that doesn't mean Chabot is any better at winning game at the end of the day. But it's not Chabot flashy play that make his coach over play him that much, coach care about result and Chabot is the one he rely on to win. Chabot isn't perfect, but when he is on the ice there's a clear advantage for his team.

This year regular season + playoff Chabot is +58 in 52 games, he is even +2 at the Memorial Cup after those two losses. In comparaison Zboril is +29 in 66 games and he's -3 at the Mem Cup. Chabot is not playing way more than Zboril because the coach love the flashs but because he love the result.

Agree

Carlo may have been better to play in the AHL 1/2 the year but he did well over all. Lauzon & Zboril likely are ticketed to Providence and that should be a great place for their development

Providence teaches these guys to play the right way- I'm excited to see them grow and reupped my Providence tickets

I do agree with you he is in a good organisation to improve, the Bruins have been amazing at developping defensmen, but the fact his decision making is still like that in junior at 19 while he isn't trying to push the play have me worrying. Things doesn't get easier at the Nhl level when it come to time to make those decision.

The Tbirds were just what the doctor ordered for the Seadogs. A 6 goal 2nd period outburst carried them to a 7 zip win. The team overall did play better however the TBirbs certainly helped make the job easier as they struggled yet again. The go home having given up 18 goals while scoring just 3 in three games. Tough, tough tournament for them.

JZ, like many Seadogs, was better tonight. He picked up an assist and was +4 on the night. They will play in Friday nights semi final against the loser of tomorrow nights final round robin game between the Otters and Knights. They have a little something to build on from tonight going into that game but will have to be better than tonight yet again to be a factor in what will definelty be the underdog role no matter who they may face.
