2017 Football Thread III: End of an Eli

Brown's should take Barkley at 1 then trade the #4, 33 and 64 for #2 and take Darnold.

They would have to include the 35 as well.
I dunno, with 1 and 4 overall, I think they’re in pretty good shape. I’ll defer to Dorsey, who seems to know what he’s doing, but if they have one QB they love head and shoulders above the rest, I’m happy taking him 1OA, and then taking whichever of Barkley (hopefully), Chubb or Fitzpatrick is left. If, however, they like both Darnold and Allen equally, as has been reported, then I definitely want them to take Barkley and wait for #4 to draft whichever is left, under the assumption that Chubb has to go either 2 or 3.

EDIT: I suppose another option is to take the QB you want #1, and if Barkley doesn’t make it to 4, you trade back with one of the other teams that’s desperate for a QB...

Video is apparently a few years old. Prior to some of his tattoos.

The problem I have, and I actually like the kid a lot more than most do, is he put himself into this situation and why does this situation come up years later? All these guys are doing this, I'm not an idiot, but why does it blow up for him? Half the league could have a video of a player smoking a blunt and some girl doing blow next to him but it doesn't pop up. Why for him?

Odell has to smarten up and get off the map. People want him to fail and he needs to just get off the radar.

Who knows? He's been a complete professional off the field, mostly. It's not like he has ever been criticized for anything off the field. The idea that some video from years ago should really change anything is silly.

I agree with you and this is what I've told everyone who hates Odell. I think he's actually a good guy that a lot of fans want to hate because he's eccentric. The problem is this pops up and it's one more thing for the haters to hate. It doesn't matter that it was a few years ago, it's talk. That's what this guy needs to avoid.

I don't think he can avoid events popping up from years ago. He currently has no control over that.

The Cowboys were somehow able to bury the video of Dez Bryant (allegedly) beating the shit out of his own mother.

What did we do to deserve this?

Also, this reeks of blackmail to me. Video edited to only show OBJ with a blunt and in the vicinity of coke, yet obscures the identities of everyone else in the room.

Show me the evidence that he hasn’t. Burden is on you, there.

Hasn't what? Done these types of things in current day? He likely has. Behaviors like that don't just stop.

It's been proven he's made poor decisions on and off the field. These events arent one offs. Its the crowd he associates himself with. When you have clear examples of bad decisions, burden is on the person to prove they have changed their ways, not the other way around. Especially when the behaviors are illegal.

So what. Pretty tame stuff.

It's the on field antics I'd like him to cut down on if possible.

SIGN THIS GUY!!!!

It's the pattern of bad decisions on and off the field, along with his overall attitude that's an issue.

He's an amazing talent but he's a "me" only type person and that can have a negative impact on younger players.

Maybe, and I wish he was a bit more mature but his teammates seem to like him (including his quarterback) and I think the Giants will regret it if they trade him for well-behaved mediocre talents.

The QB will be gone in a season and they will likely have a young QB to replace. Not the type of influence you want around.

OBJ is an amazing talent but he's shown really suspect decision making at times. Signing him to a big money long term deal has good amount of risk associated with it.

Show me the evidence. Don’t sit there and pontificate.

You can’t prove a negative. So, no. The burden is on you. Sorry. But that’s how this works.
