2017 Football Thread III: End of an Eli

I forget who it was on NBC a second ago, but they were saying that the top 3 QBs in this draft are not as good as the top guys last year.

I had to do a double-take on that one and make sure I actually heard that correctly. Talk about a hot take. I'll easily take Rosen, Darnold, and Allen over the top guys last year.
Yeah, I wouldn't trade Mahomes for any of those guys.

Lots of chiefs fans wanted to wait until this draft to take a QB. Im glad we didn't.

All three are most definitely better prospects at the same stage (I'd also take Jackson and probably Rudolph as well). It's the deepest QB crop since 2004.

Mahomes is a year more developed, though, which is important for a team like the Chiefs.

And you know I'm a big-time Mahomes fan.

Hope Tyrod is okay. I can't imagine what is going through Peterman's mind right now.

That's a floater by Peterman, but holy shit I hate when WRs don't come back to the ball. Just as bad from #10 as it is from Peterman.

Yeah, it sucked seeing Tyrod go down like that. I also said to my friends that we all know this is ending with a Peterman interception, and well, here we are.

To add to Jon's point about the QB class: no way that Trubisky and co. are more touted than this crop of kids. I'd say Watson would be on par, but he's not the conventional type of qb that Allen and Rosen are.

The AFC slate for next week, come the f*** on. Who wants to see Pittsburgh and New England in the AFC Championship again?

I don't know about Trubitsky and maybe Mahomes is still a question mark but I'd absolutely take Watson over any QB in the 2018 draft. I don't think the Texans would trade Watson for the #1 pick straight up and I think any team, including the Browns, would trade their 1st for Watson straight up. Hard to say if the same is true for Mahomes.

I certainly would not trade the 2 for Watson and his ACL issues. Doubt the Browns would, either.

Other Giants writers seemed to think Wilks was a potential favorite due to his Gettleman connection but Myers seems to believe he's clearly 4th on their list. Bruce Arians mentioned earlier today that it wouldn't surprise him if Saban left for the NFL to take the Giants job but that's been heavily denied since - including by Myers.

As @silverfish mentioned, here's our old friend's story about Patricia being the Giants choice for head coach: All signs point to Patriots DC Matt Patricia as next Giants coach

Peter King also reported Patricia prefers Giants over Lions in his MMQB mailbag.
In Detroit, I hear Pats defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is the choice over Houston’s defensive boss, Mike Vrabel—but Patricia favors the Giants. If the Giants give the nod to Patricia, Detroit could be Vrabel’s job.

Patricia is a rocket scientists.
Mac had a degree in human kinetics.
What are we hiring? Schtick?
Carefully crafted plans and personalities.
I dont trust any of them.

It's going to be Patricia

Probably. Sounds like Giants want to do a 2nd round of interviews but their three top choices are all rather busy at the moment. At least we don't have to hear about Gettleman's connection to Wilks making him a favorite anymore.
