Any chance this Pedrie guy is a good skater/puck mover?

From the limited videos I was able to find, he seems to be offensive-minded. Spent a lot of time on the PP and isn't afraid to use his slapper. 5v5 it seems he likes to join the rush when he can, and has pretty good hands. Didn't see any videos showing his defense or his ability to see the stretch pass. All videos were in the Offensive zone. Hope he's better than Gilmour @ D.

The team is doing exactly what I want. Going shopping in the NCAA free agent pool to bring in fresh blood for Hartford.

Now all we need is Kenny G gone and things will be looking up

Elite Prospects is listing Pedrie as signing with the Rangers and Michael Kapla of Mass Lowell as signing with the Devils.

Although he is a sophomore at Penn State Pedrie will be 24 in January. In 2016 he was selected for the all Big Ten Freshman team and all Big Ten second team. He also is from Rochester Minnesota. Looks like the Rangers are making inroads in Minnesota hockey.

Those three would be among the best but all are underclassmen and could decide to go back to school. Pionk and Gross are the right handed defensemen who have generated the most buzz, for whatever that is worth. At forward, Sheehy and Kloos from Minnesota should get offers. C. J. Smith from Mass Lowell is a junior and could return to school. There are a couple of forwards on Minn Duluth, Iafallo and Johnson, who will receive attention. And there a number of prospects on Union such as Mike Vecchione and Spencer Foo.

So there are still several guys out there but if the Rangers could sign one of the defensemen and Sheehy that would be sweet.

So are the big prizes still out there Sheehy, Pionk, and Gross?

College Free Agent Update

Mass Lowell center Joe Gambardella signs with Edmonton. Edmonton Oilers‏ @EdmontonOilers
The #Oilers have signed free agent forward Joseph Gambardella from @RiverHawkHockey to a two-year ELC, effective in 2017-18.

Both Michael Kapla and Gambardella from U Mass now signed. Perhaps C. J. Smith, who is a better prospect, has decided to go back to school?

Michael Russo is reporting that Minnesota forward Justin Kloos has received an offer from the Wild and that he has other offers.

Kloos has other options besides #mnwild, but I'd have to think organization's lack of skill up the middle is intriguing

Sources: #mnwild has made contract offer to #gophers captain and 2012 MN Mr. Hockey Justin Kloos. Deal would start next season, Iowa ATO now.

No followup I can find on rumor yesterday of another Ranger signing of a Minnesota gopher player.

Johnny Hockey's brother, Matt, signs with Bridgeport.

Updates from Elliotte Friedman

Union Center Mike Vecchione to decide in next 24 hours.
Union junior right handed defenseman Nick Desimone, close to making decision.
Union forward Spencer Foo says he will not turn pro.
Mass Lowell junior forward C. J. Smith might go back for his senior year.

According to Minnesota Wild reporter, Michael Russo, Minnesota forward, Vinnie Leftieri will sign with Rangers and play the last eight games of the year with Hartford.

Michael Russo‏ @Russostrib
Vinni Lettieri closing in on a 2-yr deal w/ the #NYRangers. Will be in Hartford Tues. to play final 8 games after breakout year w/ #gophers

He's an intriguing prospect. He's always showed a very good awareness and responsibility on the ice, it was the offense that exploded.

If he can translate some of that at the pro level, he's got a fighting chance to be a bottom 6 NHL player.

Elliotte Friedman reporting that C. J. Smith will sign with Buffalo. Very disappointing.

Elliotte Friedman‏ @FriedgeHNIC
Hearing UMass-Lowell F CJ Smith will join BUF. He had 51 points this season.

That defense is beyond ridiculous.

Dahlin-Liljegren
Brannstrom-Westerlund
Ginning-Boqvist

Give that defense like five years, and it could be a good NHL defense.

Might be similar to how we look back at the 2013 US WJC defense. Although Dahlin looks like the best D prospect since Doughty.

Let's hope Westerlund has a better showing here than he has recently. I'd still like to find a way to nab him in the 3rd round if he's there.

Their coach is old school, he'll have one "defensive" guy on each pairing. Also likely that atleast one or two of Dahlin, Westerlund and Brännström won't be allowed to go because of the SHL playoffs.

More likely pairings imo:
Ginning-Liljegren
Brännström-X (really not sure, Walfridsson maybe?)
Själin-Westerlund/Boqvist

This is because i really don't think Frölunda will let Dahlin go and Westerlund is borderline, i think Brännström will go but not 100%... Ginning-Liljegren was a pairing at the 5 nations, as was Själin-Westerlund, Brännström was paired with Asplund. Could see Brännström-Själin, especially if Westerlund isn't there.
