I thought the OHL forwards were excellent. Cirelli and Stephens were excellent, great poise with the puck, mature, smart, and controlled the puck. They didn't run around and lose the puck like some other players. Good players for the WJC team. McLeod and Bastian were good as well, Bastian was big, physical, took up a lot of space and won puck battles. McLeod was really fast, aggressive, and that speed can be useful in a lesser role on the line-up. I don't think Kyrou and Bitten are strong enough to be on the team yet from what I saw. A little too soft for me compared to someone like Stephens who is similar height.

None of the defencemen from OHL make the team IMO. Some are too weak, too slow, or overall not good enough. They are going to have to come from the WHL and QMJHL.

McKenzie's been on radio discussing world juniors a bit more a few days ago (obv there's a bunch of overlap in content - and both clips were prior to Barzal getting sent back):

Renamed CIS

Its an all-star team chosen from the best CIS players across Canada.

CIS rebranded a few weeks back. Now dubbed "U Sports". It's awful.

Ha ha I initially thought they were playing some group of US selects and couldn't figure out why they'd do that

Good to see respect from Bragin. Canada respected Victory Day this spring, our coaches wore the Flag of St. Andrew.

Remembrance Day is an important day in Canada. November 11th is a day we honour in Canada remembering the end of WWI.

The Remembrance Poppy is an important tradition of solemn reflection. Canada sacrificed for the British Empire, our sacrifice led to Canada becoming an independent country within the British Empire.

November 11th is an important day for us.

This is logical.
Our countries were allies in these wars.:)

As vast northern nations we share mutual interests.

This is why hockey is important, it keeps open communication. Russia and Canada have stood together in the darkest times.

We fight on the ice but stick together when we need to :).

I agree with you.

Nice tough by him, good to see.

He honoured our traditions. Our coaches did the same on Victory Day, we can't be mad at them for that.

Russians want better relations with us. I say, **** them on the ice and we'll destroy them but after the game we pay respects.

I think it's a good thing for sure off the ice.

As for the hockey end of things,I respect their hockey but would be lying if i said I wished anything but disaster for their players and teams on a sheet of ice.

Despise them as a hockey unit.

Hows this look guys?

Dubois - Barzal - Cirelli
Benson - McCleod - Joseph
Harkins - Steel - Merkley
Wagner - Stephens - Mascherin
Smith

Chabot - Juulsen
Chychrun - Vande Sompel
Clague - Lauzon
Bean

Hart
Cormier
Ingram

So Crouse got Game 10 under his belt so you guys are down 6 players now: McDavid, Beauvillier, Marner, Crouse, Chychrun, Konecny.

To your south, the US will be without 5: Matthews, Werenski, Hanafin, Tkachuk, Keller.

Thats a boatload of talent not playing.

Crouse is exactly the type of NHLer that does get loaned to play at the WJC. Not counting him out. Strome a possibility there as well. Not sure why you included an injured player (Keller) there, unless you want to include all injured players (Speers, Roy etc).

Canada won't take only one righty on the back-end... especially when they have Myers, Fabbro and Hobbs who are knocking on the door and could all certainly do a job at the WJC.

Chabot -- Juulsen
Chychrun -- Bean
Lauzon -- Myers
Girard/Fabbro/Hobbs

would be my best bet.

I was just trying to put in guys who woukdnt be there. I donr follow TC enough to know that Speers, Roy, etc. were injured. Not trying to slight anybody....just didnt know

Out of last 8 or 9 rosters here, 2 have Patrick in a bottom-six position and 5 don't have him even on the team. I understand that he is injured now, and maybe that somehow influenced making these roster, and it's gonna be a little bit of a concern how quickly he's back, but when he's healthy, and if he's healthy when the time comes, he's almost 100% going to be in TOP6 role and will be used in all game-situations, you can eventually call me out on that, but you won't have a reason to cause that's not gonna happen. And there is absolutely zero hance he isn't on the team if healthy. Zero. He's literally better than majority of the forwards available and I would say is a TOP 3 forward right now. I would even go that far that I'm confident he would do better in the NHL today than Crouse or Strome do.

Barzal is back and will almost certainly slot in above Patrick on the centre depth chart. If Strome returns, he will be given a top six centre spot as well. Outside of them, yes, Patrick is very likely one of the top two centres that will be there.

Pu is averaging very close to 2PPG so far, with 30 points in 16 games. Stepped up in a big way with the departure of the Tkachuk/Dvorak/Marner line.

Have to wonder if he's going to earn an invite.

He could. As far as I can see he hasn't played at either of the U18 tournament for Canada though, so that may reduce his chances somewhat. This year the race even for camp invites is ridiculously wide open.
