Couldn't care less what Schenn does this year, he wouldn't be doing it here.
Moving Voracek is working, he's making Raffl into an allstar once again! :sarcasm:
The real problem is the bottom six, but that may be a combination of patience with Patrick and Konecny, and some promotions in the spring from the Phantoms.
Weise is getting about 9 minutes a game at ES, Lehtera is benched, so you can't blame them anymore.
The five guys getting more PT than them either have to pick up the pace a bit or get replaced.

Though getting the defense to settle down, and establishing D-pairs that can actually work together for an extended period will help.

The Flyers are in a good position capwise. But the roster is overflowing--need to trade a D or 2 and a forward or 2.

18 contracts for 2018, 21 players under team control with several prospects ready for NHL action...

More likely they bury some guys like Read this year.
Fipplula's gone as is Read, Lehtera has one more year, Weise and MacDonald two more years.
I think Hextall would like to avoid buyouts only to prevent future cap hits past 2019.
He might wave some of these guys and hope they're claimed, or take half their salary to move them.

Waive Lehtera like they have done with Read this season. Morin is listed as the 7th D because we have established pairings, but he will easily play 50+ games.

Giroux(30)-Couturier(25)-Simmonds(30)
Lindblom(22)-Patrick(20)-Voracek(29)
Raffl(29)-Laughton(24)-Konecny(21)
Leier(24)-Vecchione(25)-Weal(26)
Martel(23)
Weise(30)

Provorov(21)-MacDonald(32)
Ghost(25)-Hagg(23)
Sanheim(22)-Gudas(28)
Morin(23)

  • Raffl will probably be 2LW, Lindblom 3/4LW
  • I think Alt will still be with the team, unless the Flyers trade him.
  • Is Vecchione playing C in the AHL?

Flipping Raffl and Lindblom is fine by me.

Alt is still a guy who will pass thru waivers.

Vecchione is playing C, and has centered Martel and NAK most of the season.

And you left Vorobyev and NAK back in the AHL to play with Rubtsov et al!
They may leave Vorobyev to play with Rubtsov as his LW (and Fazleev) on the right, I think after two years NAK will get a good shot in camp to make the team.

If Giroux is a Winger, Vorobyov may play another year in LHV, and Patrick plays this little all year, I think Filppula is coming back or another vet Center is being acquired.

They think Laughton fits the archaic 4th line archetype and I would imagine Vecchione is in a similar boat. I just don’t see Hextall going into the season without a bridge given his pattern if he’s not sure someone steps up.

No matter how much Patrick plays this year, I expect him to be the #2 center next year, a summer of strength training and conditioning and I expect to see an elite 20 year prospect. Though I also expect Patrick to gradually increase his PT this year as he gets further from surgery and regains some burst and core strength.

We also don't know how Hextall will view Frost if he continues to have an outstanding junior season, he promoted Konecny at 19, and Frost mentally seems to be ahead of Konecny, whether Hextall will consider him ready for NHL from a physical standpoint remains to be seen. Frost is young for his draft class, so that might convince Hextall to send him back to juniors. He'll turn 19 in May so he'll be a few months older than Patrick this season.

I doubt Filppula would accept a one year extension, and I doubt Hextall would offer him more, he still has Weise and MacDonald for two more years, I don't think he wants a commitment to another marginal veteran in 2019-20.

Feeling like crud from this cold that's going all around, lying on the couch bored out of my mind. Here's my semi unplanned/uninformed rosters until after the possible 20/21 expansion draft. I had frost but bumped him for Kase. I completely forgot about the rest somehow. I'm more surprised that I didn't get any flak on the Simmonds trade.

You went from saying we should let the season play out before talking about July to building a 2020-21 roster in about an hour. It’s not a complaint, I just couldn’t help but laugh.
