I agree but it would suck to have to move Iafallo down and Brodzinski out of the lineup but i think it would look like this

Patches Kopitar Brown
pearson carter toffoli
iafallo kempe gaborik
clifford shore lewis

Moving him down wouldn't be too bad. Having scoring threats through the lineup would be worth it, I think at least.

Maybe there is a locker room issue and want him gone asap ? Personality clashes are a solid reason that none of us know about. Yes your right it could heat up but also could be meh because he may not fit long term If said team has a winger looking at being up with the club next year He would block said winger. Look at what bishop got traded for No one would have guess that but it happened . Never under estimate what a player trade value could be lower then u think . Also martinez would be a top 4 defense man there and a young center on elc contract has more value then u think. I don't see other clubs beating that to be honest.

If I am Montreal's GM, nothing about Alec Martinez really gets me excited. For the Kings to get max value out of Martinez or Muzzin, they need to go to a contender with an injured defenseman at the deadline, or a team looking to add some depth for the long playoff haul.

well it might have to be muzzin but either would be a upgrade for montreal. Martinez is among the leaders in shot blocks by a defense man not a fancy stat but a solid hockey stat that goes unnoticed by most fans that leads to winning games. Top four defense man who play the right side have a lot of value league wide and martinez does play this.

Martinez is 30 years old, and Muzzin will soon be 29. I don't think these are the type of defensemen I would be looking for in a trade for Pacioretty if I was Montreal's GM. Montreal is going nowhere this season, and if they trade Pacioretty it needs to be for a long-term asset.

Montreal's defense is old. What does adding Martinez or Muzzin do for them?

Montreal like it or not our in a position they can't tank with weber and Price. Patches is also 29 so thats the same as muzzin or martinez plus they get a young center that will play top 6 mins eventually thats where they want to improve. Amadio is a good young center on elc who can step in and contribute now. Also allow them to trade petry or move him to 3rd pairing where he belongs

Interesting, is this why there are rumblings on the main board about the possibility of Montreal wanting to move Price? Montreal whether they like it or not needs to recognize their GM blew it over the last couple of seasons. They aren't catching the likes of Tampa Bay or Toronto anytime soon. In fact, it is much more likely they will be surpassed by Florida and Buffalo in the not too distant future. Reading the Montreal board, it seems their fans are ready to surrender and start a rebuild in earnest.

Wanting to move him or actually being able to move him. Price is going to make over 10 million cap for the next 8 years He also has a limited no trade clause. He can pick 10 teams he will be able to be traded to . I highly doubt hes trade able to be honest. I also doubt they would be able to get rid of Webers contract not many are going to lineup for that one either. With the 2 untradeable contracts there going to be to good to tank and to crappy to contend. A rebuild in montreal is the right move however with price and weber not going anywhere I think they will try and retool like we have done.

Bad idea if they try to retool. Much like the Kings, Montreal has far too many holes to fill.

Montreal has to be hoping for two compliance buy outs in the next CBA.

Isn't Amadio from or rooted for Montreal and scored his first goal against them,or am I thinking of another King?

Edit Never mind it was the Leafs he scored his first goal.

Patches would probably be a good project for two seasons here and would help with our forward depth issues. It would give Iafallo a chance to catch his breath.Any defenseman on the Canadians worth trying to bring in as well?

Personally don't see a Patches deal happening between the Habs and Kings. If the Habs do want to trade Patches, they should probably look elsewhere as other teams probably have what they are looking for. Our depth beyond Martine/Muzzin isn't that good and Ladue and Gravel haven't put in a Voynov type effort where they can make a guy like those expendable yet. I'm sure that's what Blake is hoping will happen, but I don't think either Ladue or Gravel are there right now.

Not many Quebecois left in the NHL these days, QMJHL needs a renaissance and MTL needs to return to glory to have more of those kids growing up wanting to be part of the Habs

I disagree, many teams probably don't have the room due to cap and still tweaking or evaluating their rosters. Some may have youth coming up and bringing in Patches for a season and a half would block the young players.I agree with KingCanadian1976 on the Kings probably have the best offer on the table this early in the season. As I posted yesterday and had a poster mock it,Mayor reported on the NHL radio that Blake is on the hot seat i.e. and is expected to get this team in the playoffs this year and next.Mayor also said look for Blake to be active in the trade market.

Honestly not a whole lot different. Main difference is that we're scoring a lot more than last season.

"Rob Blake has a vision which is coming to him on the fly." Taken in context, it's not as bad as it sounds.

"Missing the playoffs is not acceptable."

"Blake is in it to win now."

My assessment: Ownership is delusional.

That's the Mayor's opinion, and I don't buy that Blake's job is on the line. I heard Futa speak to the Kings needs (Post Carter injury where he said there are not trading for scoring, keeping it in house) and I heard the conviction in his voice, his comments contradict the Mayor's editorial. I put a whole lot more stock in Futa, as most of what the Mayor said didn't make sense.
The 'win now' and 'trade away youth and picks for that guy' is what cost Lombardi his job and got Blake that chair. It was his and Luc' s 'philosophy' that was different that DL's that management put their stock in.
