OK, that last goal convinced me that it wasnt for purpose:D I just couldnt believe that they were so passive and nonagressive in offenzive zone.

ok then. are you really that active and aggresive in this weather ? how many degree around you now ???

18 degree in prague city and 28 in brno. there is no breathable air i guess. terrible for players in Brno.

There's a kid here barely bigger than the seat absolutely loving this game

Congratz Nottingham! First ever win in the CHL? Bet that kid is mighty happy now :)

Edit: Second win. 5 Pts. 3 games left to play. Nottingham has a real shot at making it out of the group. That is huge.
Maybe not the most likely outcome but who knows. All it would take is an upset against TPS or Bern. Stranger things has happened. Rooting for them.

Yes huge win for Nottingham, but MHK again dressing their B team, it's clear that they don't care for the CHL, for me anyway Hradec Králové just lost a lot of respect :shakehead

Those are regulars that didn't play: Cibulskis, Granak, Planek, Bednar, Dragoun, Jarusek and Koukal. Shame on you Mr. Václav Sýkora for dressing your B team now you have lost twice in a row versus the Nottingham Panthers how embarrassing for your club!

There were some great games today. Kometa v Kalpa, Nottingham v Mountfield and Grodno v Zug were very entertaining games. In my opinion, the CHL has improved there product. I am officially a fan and a I believe this tournament is only going to get better.

Technically 3rd win ever. Panthers beat Hamburg Freezers during the first CHL season since it was reformed in 2014.

I can not agree more. He said they have some injuries but at least Bednar and Koukal should be ok and that itself would be meagaboost.

Its not even disappointment, its an embarassment to entire czech hockey. I have half of the family from that city, I was really looking forward to them as they were my clear CHL darkhorse. But this attitude is unacceptable. Hope they not gonna win anything this year for this. 4th goal was just cherry on the cake. Panthers made them look like an idiots.

Congrats to Nottingham. Fair win.

Absolutely Jablkon, we all know that MHK is one of top clubs in Czech league they have finished top 5 in the last 4 seasons, last season they lost in semis vs Kometa in 6, its a very good team when they have a full line-up, they should have more pride representing Czech hockey, look at Brno and Trinec who represented Czech extraliga with honor so far, those are real professionals.

Kometa Brno sold out almost every Extraliga match last season. People really like hockey in Brno. But the attendance against KalPa was under 5 000. If Kometa fans do not come to a game against a Finnish team, then there is something wrong....

972 fans at Malmo arena? :amazed:

CHL has similar problem as KHL - not attractive teams. KHL will exclude them, CHL can not. CHL wants teams from Poland, Britain, France etc in the tournament, which are not attractive for fans of German, Swedish, Finnish etc teams. On the other hand, Swedish, Finnish etc clubs should be very attractive for fans in France or Poland. The problem is that British, Polish, French clubs have very small arenas (& very crap arenas in B.Bystrica or Nitra). Yes, Krakow has a big arena, but only 1807 fans today. :amazed: I would like to hear how the CHL plans to solve this problem. Because it must be fixed if the CHL wants to be "the best European league".

I can understand teams from Poland, UK and France not being a draw for Swiss, Swedish, Finnish, etc... but don't get the complaints about arena size.

Nottingham (Capacity 7,500) for example have similar or larger arenas than Vaxjo, Davos, Mountfield HK, Kometa Brno, Klagenfurt, Tappara Tempere, Bili Tygri Liberec, JYP Jyväskylä, EV Zug, Stavanger Oilers, HC Oceláři Třinec, Vienna Capitals, Red Bull Munchen, KalPa Kuopio, Grizzlys Wolfsburg, HV71, Red Bull Salzburg. It's also more modern than most of those arenas. The previous British entry, the Sheffield Steelers have an even bigger arena.

The issue is that fans of teams from lowly hockey nations like UK don't want to see their team get thrashed and top teams, don't want to watch a very one-sided affair. Whilst yesterday and previously Hamburg were fantastic nights as a Nottingham fan, I remember going to watch them play eventual champions Lulea and lose 10-1 IIRC.

Nottingham will have turned some heads amongst our fanbase, and it looks like tomorrows game against Bern should get a bigger crowd at least.

I don't think that Polish or French teams are any harder to market than German or Slovak teams abroad. It's just that none of these interest the average fans at the moment. Beyond matches between specific countries with a history of hockey rivalry like Finland and Sweden or Czechia and Slovakia there just isn't much interest right now, no matter how good the teams involved might really be.

KHL attendances of European teams like Jokerit are not due to KHL teams being more interesting opponents, but rather because the fans are not given any other option. For them it's the only show in town. If they'd play Tappara on Tuesday and Novosibirsk on Thursday, there would be just a man and his dog to see Sibir.

This tournament has 6 years to develop. They have a 6 year deal with Infront sports. If in 6 years arenas are not full and the league is not showing a profit the CHL will fold. However, i am hopeful the league can be successful. I am an American and a NHL fan. My interest in European hockey was developed by watching Euro soccer.

My questions for Euro hockey fans:

What do you believe would make the CHL successful?

Starting the league later in the hockey season?
Include the KHL? or winner plays KHL champion? (Ska vs Frolunda would be great)
Less teams in the competition?
Remove the Challenge Nations like France and Denmark? ( I like the chance for upsets)
The winner gets to play an NHL team?

Why is the Eurohockey fan not embracing this tournament?
