2016 World Cup?

Here's my take:


- Have the NHL and IIHF partner together; this way the NHL earns some revenue (unlike the Olympics) and it would be considered an international event.
- Call it something other than the "World Cup". When I think of World Cup, I think of soccer, not hockey or basketball. In order for people to recognize this tournament, it should have its own unique name.
- Have a week combine/practice a week before the NHL training camp. This way, teams can create systems and whatnot before the tourney.
- Replace the All-Star game with the tournament.
- The ice rink size should be the same as in 2002: hybrid.

And what rink(s) in N. America (and you know they want the Eastern Time Zone) has the capability to adjust rink size and has 18 thousand + capacity?

You need 2 in 1 city or 2 cities in close proximity to one another. And as I wrote, preferably in the Eastern Time Zone.

Is there any word on whether or not Edmonton's new rink will be adjustable ice size? I think it should be standard for all new arena construction.
