MISTER W:
Because I am a person of principles...

Man despite all your HIGH SOUNDING bombast, this is just hockey, not a matter of conscience, not a human rights/ life or death issue.

...I will not watch this contrived marketing gimmicky preseason exhibition tournament. Not 1 second of it.

And yet you see no incongruity in devoting hours and thousand of words telling all n sundry how you won’t waste (paraphrasing) your precious time on this over marketed, unholy charade, this undignified cash grab, masquerading as sports entertainment.

... I am making a principle stand.

So by extension, those of us who intend to watch, who actually look forward to the event, are somehow less principled?:shakehead Excuse me, while I laugh sardonically.

Everything from the World Cup of Soccer, to the OG’s are tainted by scandal, PED’s, bribery, back room deals, and the like. That neophyte World Cup of Hockey is a veritable paragon of virtue by comparison

Huberdeau is definitely among the final candidates. There's a handful of guys in the running and some good players won't make it.

The only lock is likely Scheifele. Jenner is also a guy I would for sure take, he's tough and can play on the PK.

Then you have 2 spots remaining. Two of Galchenyuk, Huberdeau, RNH, and Matthews won't make the team. Some tough choices ahead, definitely open for debate.

I agree. I would not call many if ANY 100% lock. First time we've seen this exact format take place.

Galchenyuk-McDavid-Mackinnon
Gaudreau-Monahan-Scheifele
Jenner-RNH-Saad
Huberdeau-Couturier-Eichel
Larkin

Rielly-Ekblad
Murray-Jones
Ghost-Parayko
Hamilton

Murray
Gibson

Why doesn't this team include all U-23 players in the NHL, why just the North Americans?

Why do they get 1,5 teams each?

For instance, Hampus Lindholm will be left off the Swedish team, but would be the best defenceman on this team.

So Eichel on the 4th line and Larkin as the 13th forward huh.

While I'm not sure I agree that Lindholm would be the best dman of those listed (Ekblad, Rielly, Jones, Parayko would all absolutely give him a run for his money imo) having a Team Europe of under 23 year olds seems like it would have been a strong idea.

Gaudreau-McDavid-Mackinnon
Galcheynyk-Monahan-Eichel
Larkin-Matthews-Scheifele
Jenner-Couts-Saad

Rielly-Ekblad
Murray-Jones
Hamilton-Parayko
Ghost

Gibson
Murray

That looks like a dangerous team imo

Anyone know when they are naming the remainder of this squad? Many great players left and only a handful of spots. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for Galchenyuk.

^ I just read it now. I don't think Chia should take RNH because he's an Oiler, that would be a mistake for any GM to do.

The thing with Chia is he likes size and guys who can play a heavy game. I think him and Bowman add: Jenner, Matthews, Scheifele, and Galchenyuk up front.

These are good picks imo.

Does anybody know if players not selected by team NA are eligible for their national teams? I thought that was the case but now I can't remember where I saw that.

Obviously this wouldn't have any impact on Canada, but I think it's possible players passed over for this team could be wanted on the US team.

I think they are, but if they're getting passed over for team NA they probably aren't high on the National teams radar, unless there is a backup list in case of injury.

No, they wouldn't be eligible for their respective national team if passed over by the NA team.

I agree with this.

I think Ghost will make the team simply because the offense he can bring is such an x-factor. Parakyo is an overall better defenceman though, and would be the one to take a regular shift.

Having watched the Worlds, Matthews should be on the team. I dont think he will be a top 6 guy, but I do see him as being a better option than a Domi. Schiefele will be on the team as will Galch.

One thing -- add RNH. He will be there

They will play Monahan and Gaudreau together. So much chemistry already. No sense in trying to create lighting in a bottle when they already are scary dangerous.

Larkin-McDavid-Mackinnon
Gaudreau-Monahan-Saad

Would be my top 6

Scheifele should definitely be there, even though there's some tough calls to be made, only 4 spots left. Matthews and Drouin are only making it harder. Jenner was also reliable for Canada and he's built for NHL hockey.

Mathews wont hurt that team ......pretty dam nice 4th line center ,hes not far behind larkin ,but rookies should wait their turn but hard to leave Mathews out of the conversation.
every body has their favourites ......

Drouin should be on the team before Matthews. Maybe even RNH

I doubt Drouin will be there simply because of the **** he pulled. Even if it's in the past it is a giant blip and 'National' teams wont want to include someone with that on his record this recently.

No way is Schiefele left off this team. What a performance today. His line completely shut down Laine and Barkov, it was clinical.

Giant Blip??? He's just a kid who got bad advice from his agent probably...But he's playing lights out in the SLC Play-offs...So I'm thinking he's opened up lotz of eyes/ ALL is forgiven...

Best Trade That Stevie Y NEVER MADE! :handclap:

No reason not to put him on Team NA, if he makes them better...and he likely does...albeit tough competition
