No he doesn't the problem is he either not in shape or not 100% healthy or both and in this tournament we can't really let a goalie find his groove against weak opponents because there are none. Therefore you play the hot goalie. This decision in my book is sort of a gamble even if it is the best goalie of the last decade.

I hope media roast Lundqvist if he is bad today. Dont change a winning team.
 
If the game was played on paper, Sweden should win pretty easily, but with Finland's sisu and the fact that they always over-perform against us, I see a very close game...

Sadly.

Cause we have the youngsters tomorrow I think.

Because NA and russia have 1 game each left, so if sweden wins against NA then NA is out of the tournament and one of Finland and russia will end up at 2 points no matter what.

I might have missed something but from my perspective sweden advances if they win against NA

Yeah, I read your post wrong and I think you are right. Beating the U23 team should give us a semi spot regardless of the outcome in the other games. It would give us at least 4 pts, which no other team could top and only one of Finland/Russia could tie.

Sooo sick and tired of hearing
about the finish sisu. As soon as the finns play a good game it's credited to their sisu. When the play a bad game, it's that a sudden lack of sisu? When Sweden came back from 1-5 against the finns in the world Championships, was that swedish sisu? The finnish sisu is a myth. They play good games and bad games, just like any other teams.
 
I will hereby admit I didn't think Lundqvist could show us such a great game with the recent games + his flu. Hats off.
 
After two games:

Good: Only 1 goal against.
Bad: Only 4 goals for, one of them an empty netter. Hopefully today's offensive effort was to conserve energy for the back-to-back.

Sweden has won against the Finns due to always having the better players. When Finland win, they work their ***** off and beat us with their inferior rosters.

Sweden never win when we have inferior players (some World Championships for instance).

Yep Lundqvist was great very focused was not expecting an effort like that. If Lundqvist were to go down we atleast have a goaltender that we feel somewhat confident in.
 
Am I the only one who feels we're not really utilizing our "world class" defense group at all? The thing that would make it stand out is the ability of some of them to control the offense, but Grönborg isn't basing the team's attacks on puck carrying defensemen, even though they should be our biggest strength. See for example the way OEL keeps back dropping the puck to forwards in the neutral zone instead of moving forward.

If Karlsson and OEL were used like this in the NHL they would merely be considered good defensemen, not among the elite.

I do not know if agree, if NA would have won against russia, we would already been in semifinal now. If you win 2 of 3 games in the group stage you deservres to move forward. The only postive is that 1 point against NA is enough to win the group. It feels like we will either win the group or not make the semifinal at all. Now we basically play 1 extra playoff game
 
Yeah, I really hope players like Karlsson have a green for go to go against NA tomorrow, so we can try to actually win the game. But, their speed is ridiculous, so it will probably be another passive game.

We must push them back, their attack is too good. With tired legs, I'm not feeling good about tomorrow.

Finns could save us if we lose against the U23 team, but yeah a Russian loss against the kids would have been better for our chances.

if sweden wins, finland has a chance to go trough...


if sweden loses, they might still not get through because no motivation for fin...

both NA and russia win
