World Cup: 2016 World Cup — Team Sweden Part II

Finland looks bad. I feel pretty confident we'll make the semis now because I can't see the Team Sweden I saw today lose against this Team Finland.

The problem is playing u23 the day right after the Finland game. They'll be rested and we'll be gassed from the day before, and winning/losing the u23 game could be the difference between meeting Team Canada and possibly Team Europe in the semis.

Well that's just how he is. He gets the work done and no bs, but doesnt get much praise for it. He's the second best D (better than Seabrook att this point) on a team that ha won 3 cups during his time on the team. He's rock solid.

I think it's a big advantage playing the U23 team last. That team has to be scouted rigorously, or they could burn us like they burned Finland. I think we have the best schedule in this group. The Finland game will be crucial though, a must win game against those NA kids would be pretty scary.

Almost a perfect game, we could maybe been better in the breakaways where we usually didnt succed with the last pass, and Markström last minute was not that good. Otherwise great, all players deserves praise in this game I think, everyone was good. I think it was the right move to play Backlund instead of Berglund, Backlund gave that line som speed and diversity.
 
U-23 might be the best team in this tournament, offensively.

Their speed and intensity is unmatched. We have to play a great positional game defensively and frustrate them by hemming them in their own zone for extended periods.

Sweden is probably the only team with enough speed on the back-end to keep up. But I mean...Larkin, McDavid and many more. They are the fastest in the world, probably even faster than Hagelin.

If our forwards miss assignments or don't backcheck like rabid dogs, our defencemen won't stand a snowball's chance in hell.

Hopefully Landeskog, OEL, Hedman, Hjalmarsson etc. will play extremely physical when the time is right. If they get scared of being caught while carrying the puck, they will also start making mistakes.

Will be a fun game, but it could also become a nightmare if we perform like we did against Europe.

My dream match-up is U-23 vs Canada. Would be great if the kids won against the vets, haha..
 
i want berglund to play next game instead of silverberg. berglund brings more physciality.

lindholm should get some minutes also.

and markstrom should start next game....lundqvist was really bad in the pre-games.

How does this end up.
 
This team NA is possibly the only team in this tournament which can give canada a run for their money.

Their talent level is unmatched. Im sure nobody knew they are this good. Never seen team fin so outplayed.

good luck, but it looks like they really are a tier above, which is kind of sad.


I actually think russia might be the only team to challenge them because they the fire power to go to a shooting war.


But the sweden and finland tactics clocking the middle and holding tight wont't style wise work here. Sweden getting a huge advantage though to be able scout them.

Neither Berglund or Silfverberg are physical players. Berglund looked slow and out of shape. Also don't see Lindholm beating out any D currently on the team. Ekholm had a strong game against the Russians.

silfverberg has gamebreaking abilities; berglund does not.

agree on markstrom though.

He may be physical the problem is he lacks the hockey-sense or skating ability to be able to use it effectively rendering him utterly useless since the puck skills he had 5 years ago seem to have vanished. Silfverberg is a good skater, has excellent hockey-sense good puck skills and shot, you are just obsessed with size Berglund can't even use his size therefore he brings nothing

This result between russia and the u23 all star, was good if we want to win the group, bad if we want to move forward. Now everything is pretty open.

I think it was a good result as it is not unlikely that the second placed team get Canada. Sweden should be capable of beating both Finland and NA, and if not we dont have any business in the Semis anyway.
 
Sweden make it to the semi if they win against NA, no matter what outcome the finland game has, correct?

No. 3-way tie for top spot if all teams beat Finland and Sweden loses to NA-U23. Good chance we don't make it to the semi if we don't win both upcoming games.

Lundqvist gets the start per Aftonbladet. That's not good I don't think he is 100% no matter what he told grönborg
 
Will be good to see Lundqvist play in a game that matters, behind a team that is playing cohesive, as SWE has been recently.

Unless i'm missing something you're wrong (atleast if you read what i said), i said if sweden wins against NA they're in.

Because NA and russia have 1 game each left, so if sweden wins against NA then NA is out of the tournament and one of Finland and russia will end up at 2 points no matter what.

I might have missed something but from my perspective sweden advances if they win against NA
