Not sure what this means. Do you mean that we won 50% of the games against Finland, who on paper has the worst team in the World cup?

While I'm not gonna argue your general point I would say that on paper the Czech probably have the weakest team(Not that they have looked weak in the exhibition games).

It just took one loss in an exhibition game for everyone to go bananas ...

I guess if they win over Russia people will immediately call them tournament finalists, that's how fast the winds change on these boards.

Personally I think the marginals are so close, and it can change from one game to another.

I never thought Team Europe would be a push-over. After all they are professionals and not that far behind Sweden in quality, especially not in the offense.

When Sweden has looked dominate in group play we lost to Belarus, when we looked like a weaker team we won Oympic gold ..

And now you jump to all kinds of conclusions based on an exhibition game ...

On paper, Canada is the best team. Followed closely by Russia, Sweden and USA, who are on the same level....and then the rest..I wouldn't spend much time on figuring out who is the worst on paper: czech, finland, or Europe

However, hockey is played on ice not on paper, that's why we love it :handclap:

Just taking into account what we have seen last week, I would say that either Europe or the Czech Rep. will manage an upset against the US. Russia will be the top team in the other division.

Yes ofc, we should never expect a hockey game to be played out on paper unless the teams are massively different in terms of skill(Lets say an NHL team vs a French Ligue Magnus team just for fun) and even then the odd result could always happen.

I simply didn't think that Finland had a worse paper team considering that the Czech lost a lot of important players pre tournament like Krejci for example.

Creating a Sweden B - from injured and not invited players, how would they do against this current team?

Steen-Zetterberg-Nyquist

Rakell-Zibanejad-Johansson

Arvidsson-Wennberg-Nylander

Larsson-Kruger-Lindholm

Klingberg-Larsson

Brodin-Edler

Klefbom-Kronwall

Lehner
Läck
Gustavsson

I think Janmark should have a spot on that team. (instead of Larsson or Wennberg)

But how would they do...? Well, depends a bit on which side of the bed Lundqvist woke up on, in the current team. And if the Sedin's get cought in the corners too much or not (too much cycling without any finish) If not and Lundqvist is in form, then they would probably have it rather tough.

Really, calm down. The real games haven't even started and in the game vs Team EU, Sweden had just travelled to NA and was jet lagged.

Sweden's first real game is against Russia and I'm sure they will look much better in that as their jet lag should be gone by then.

...Assuming they start Markström.

Yes of course, because Lundqvist wasn't jetlagged at all. All those breakaways and 2 on 1s shouldn't be a problem for Markström, only for Lundqvist.

Lundqvist is washed up. I believe markstrom is better

No he's probably not, but in a tournament like this we don't really have the luxury of being able to play a goaltender into shape that's the issue not that Lundqvist is washed up.

So was team Europe..

What? No they weren't.

Even if he was, he had a similar save % against Finland the game earlier. It's not like this game against Europe was especially bad in comparison. Markström on the other hand has let in exactly 0 goals.

If sweden wants any shot to win the championship, they need another line to step up. The sedins old ass can only carry this team so much.

who is the next GRRREAT swedish goalie? Dansk?

I'm sure one or two will emerge as good NHL goaltenders before Lundqvist retires. Markström and Lehner are the closest right now, followed by Ullmark. Down the pipeline we have guys like Sandström and Eriksson Ek (undrafted) who looks promising.

Lundqvist has always been good in international tournaments so I'm not worried at all.

What?

There is no evidence that Lundqvist is washed up, outside of a poor most recent 5 or 6 games that he's played in. Which is too small a sample size and more than likely not even the worst 6 game stretch of his career so far.

There is evidence that Markstrom did not look like an NHL caliber goaltender, exactly one year ago today. The first time that Markstrom looked like an NHL caliber goaltender was just this past recent season. He was awful in the NHL before that. Really awful, like worse than Anders Lindback awful. So awful, it made Enroth look really good.

Even if Markstrom is playing better than Lundqvist at this particular moment (which I don't expect to continue for long), there's no way I can say Markstrom is better than Lundqvist. I'm not even sure if Markstrom is definitely better than Enroth yet.

Looks like a pretty decent WC team.
