What on earth is Silfverberg doing on Team Sweden?

Does anyone remember Silfverberg from the Olympics? He was... And what did he do since then? Gustav Nyqvist says hello...

No way.

Our forwards are overrated.

How many of them would make team Canada?

Probably not a single one.

Bäckström would make team Canada. Maybe the Sedins. Maybe, maybe, maybe Forsberg as #13 forward.

He wasn't in the discussion for me personally. Big, can shoot, solid skater but just isn't engaged enough in the games. He's also skipped the WC one time too many, that probably factored in.

Our forwards really aren't much better than what we will be icing in Toronto. Kruger could obviously be replaced by someone better but this is the 4th line we are talking about, won't make much difference.

Nyqvist will be missed! 7 goals in the WCH in like 5 games. Silfverberg has absolutely no business what so ever in this roster. His skill level is << Nyqvist.

Kruger is the worst player in world cup.

He had 4 points in 41 games.

No other team in this tournament has someone like Kruger on their team, so why should we?

Best players should play. Berglund, Backlund, Zibanejad etc brings more and they are not even bad in defence zon.

There is no need for a defense expert like Kruger when the whole team is good 2 way players.

And dont come with the "4th line does not have to bring offense"...all other teams 4th line will bring offense.....

And some people talk about Kruger as a gritty player is just sad. Kruger has never finished a single check in the 100+ games i have seen him.

Sweden is loaded. Love their D, definitely the strongest by far in their pool.

Swedes likely go 3-0 in group play.

russias skill upfront will be too much for us, we are never good against russia.

finland are gritty and always plays good.

u-23 is fast as hell.

i could see us lose all 3 games. we are lacking young players, grit and speed.

Our defence can stonewall any other team, none will score at ease on Sweden. The weakness is production.

To bad we don't have elite shutdown defenders who are used to the best offensive players imaginable.

Totally agree with your Krüger rant though that selection is just ********

I'm not so sure about that. They are stacked down the middle. The only Swede that would be a lock for Team Canada is Erik Karlsson.

Considering the lack of LHD's I'd have a real hard time not seeing OEL and Hedman make it. Lundqvist would probably make it aswell and maybe the twins for experience

Zetterberg has regressed pretty badly lately. He should be used on a defensive shutdown line with Silfverberg and Hagelin.

Krüger's spot should've gone to Berglund, Zibanejad, Johansson, Arvidsson, Rakell or Nyqvist.

His roster spot makes no sense...

Hmm, I'm pretty sure that Grönborg intends Söderberg to be the 13th forward, but I don't trust a decling Zetterberg to anchor a line anymore and would like to move him to the wing.

Filip Forsberg - Nicklas Bäckström - Patric Hörnqvist
I think playing Forsberg and Bäckström together is a given. Our best playmaker with our best goal scorer only is logical. I think Hörnqvist could complement them well, screening in front of the net and picking up rebounds for garbage goals

Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Loui Eriksson
This line is almost a guarantee, due to the chemistry they had during the 2013 Worlds. This was obviously an intended line for the Olympics as well before Henriks injury derailed that.

Henrik Zetterberg - Carl Söderberg - Gabriel Landeskog
Two-way line that can both score and handle the oppositions best line

Alexander Steen - Marcus Krüger - Jakob Silfverberg
Our shutdown line, still Steen and Silf have the ability to score

Benchwarmer: Carl Hagelin

Erik Karlsson - Niklas Hjalmarsson
Karlsson will be counted upon for scoring, so pairing him with a reliable defensive defencemen seem appropriate. I fear that the management still think Kronwall is the Kronwall of five years ago and might pair him with Karlsson, that would not go well.

Victor Hedman - Anton Strålman
Tampa connection

Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Mattias Ekholm
Great two-way pairing. OEL - Karlsson pairing were a disaster at the Olympics so they should be kept separate.

Extra: Niklas Kronwall

Henrik Lundqvist
Lundqvist will start all games. Markström and Lehner will compete for first place in the line to the hot dog stand

Surprised and disappointed Edler didn't make it. He and Karlsson have performed well together in the past.

Maybe his injury was a deterrent?

Really you're surprised?
Karlsson
Hedman
OEL
Strålman
Klingberg
Lindholm
Ekholm
Hjalmarsson
Kronwall
Larsson

Brodin -----> Kronwall

Heck, even Carl Gunnarsson is better.

Whichever way you cut it the point still stands, it shouldn't be that surprising that Grönborg doesn't consider Edler one of the seven best available defensemen, personally as I've stated many times I would very much consider picking him as the seventh D both for his chemistry with Karlsson but also for his physicality and size which this team lacks.

I'd take him over Stralman, Ekholm, Hjalmarsson, Kronwall, and Larsson. Maybe Klingberg too.

Yeah he is definitely better than Kronwall but he doesn't provide the shutdown abilities that Hjalmarsson does, and he isn't quite as physical as Larsson and Sweden lacks one righty as it is, and he Ekholm has been more loyal to the NT, Strålman and Klingberg in my mind are just superior players right now. Point is with the depth Sweden has he is a fringe player and it shouldn't really surprise you sorry if I came across as rude.

Maybe the injury played in, maybe he even declined. He has anyway loyalty speaking for him.

To his negative is that a lot of his production #5 Swedish D-man ppg is on the PP. Taking that away he falls down on the chart. This tourney might be a low call one. I am not surprised that he did not make it, but I would not have been surprised if he made it over Kronwall or Ekholm either.

Nyqvist will be missed! 7 goals in the WCH in like 5 games. Silfverberg has absolutely no business what so ever in this roster. His skill level is << Nyqvist.

Nyquist is not levels above Silfverberg, but I would pick Nyquist to the team, sense he showed in WHC.

Silfverberg is not the worse player on the team, Kruger, Kronwall, Hörnqvist and Strålman is worse.

The swedish forwards feels pretty mellanmjölk. It would have been fun with a Kane it the mix.

Disaster and disaster, OEL was maybe not so good, Karlsson made it work though. OEL was even worse in the final when he didnt play with Karlsson and he was also horrible in whc last year in the big games (against the smaller nations he was great), so it had absolutly nothing to do with Karlsson. OEL has been pretty horrible in the national shirt overall, he is probably the most offensive gifted player on the team and most fun to watch in NHL, but he looks completly lost and weak against the better teams at international level. Hopefully he can turn things around now. Because I do not get how he can be that bad, he has all the tools to dominate even against the best teams. Hopefully he will show that this time.

Strålman - Hedman, maybe, but they where not good espically not Strålman against Pitts, having 2 glumpsy d-men togehter is maybe not the best solution after all. Hedman looked better when he was seperated from Strålman. It becomes to easy to know how to play against them, forecheck them.

I would not have Hagelin as a benchwarmer, we need that speed. Hörnqvist or Kruger can be that 13th forward.

Remember that zetterberg started off this season great, i think he has a problem keeping it up for the whole season, but this is even before the season has started, so that should not be a problem.

In my opinion you guys are underrating Kruger. I had him in my projected roster about half year ago, and you thought I was crazy, now he's on the team. He won't disappoint you.

Does anyone remember Silfverberg from the Olympics? He was... And what did he do since then? Gustav Nyqvist says hello...

20 goals from defense guy, size, can shoot, bad season should not be rewarded, or easy goals.

The guy get 3.000.000 american us not funny money dollars for four assists which equalizado 1.000.000 million dollars for each assist. Not counting the Gretzky ditto he was awarded on T.V.'s 2-5 goal against Calgary, feb. 28, when he was off the ice for seven seconds late in the third period and didnot play anymoreforthatmatter.

So he must be good at something.
