I watched every Russia national team's game since 2002 SLC Olympic games.(OG+WC). As i said, in national games Ovi just running as a bull with arrow in his ass. He is a great player, but just in nhl regular games.
Being the most talked about dont produce wins for national team.

You seem to have watched different games then. I watched them too, some of them in person. Your accusations against Ovi are just frustration with the overall performance more than a fair assesment I think.

I think the experiments with Kulemin or Anisimov playing with elite players should stop. In a lineup with so many lethal offensive players, these two should be on the same line, making a great two-way, physical force. I'd have them + whoever (I slotted Tikhonov here) trying to shut down opposing player's top lines.

Tell that the Hawks.

My lines:

Ovechkin-Datsyuk-Kucherov
Kovalchuk-Malkin-Radulov
Panarin-Kuznetsov-Tarasenko
Kulemin-Anisimov-Zaripov/Yakupov/Nichuskin/Buchnevich

Defense is meh but something like this maybe:
Markov-Zaitsev
Zadorov-Medvedev
Emelin-Chudinov
Orlov-Nesterov

Bobrovsky
Varlamov
Vasilevsky

I have a feeling that the most challenging part for NT is not utilizing Ovechkin properly, but rather utlizing Malkin. I mean, clearly putting him with purely offensive guys like Ovechkin didn't work, even more, the only time Malkin line really worked for NT was when Malkin was put on the line with Popov and Perezhogin at wings.

Bobrovsky and Varlamov have been awful this season so far.
The defensemen, no bright spots either.
At least some of the guys on offense look good, especially Panarin, Kuznetsov and Yakupov.

But puck moving defensemen is what this team lacks.

Markov and Emelin are two of the better dmen this year. And they're both more effective on smaller surface then the bigger one.

Zadorov looks pretty good among a so far abysmal Avalache team.

Also I would say that Orlov and Medvedev look decent at the start of the season.

I dunno, he was pretty good in 2006, 2008 and 2013.

Should probably stop playing Malkin and him together.

With Ovi and Kuzya playing on the same line on the Caps, I can't see, how they won't play on the same line on NT. So it's going to be something like Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Kucherov.

Then there are Panarin and Tarasenko as wingers. I think the only possible center for them is Malkin. And then there are Radulov and Datsyuk, who played together in Sochi and were the best our line. Who is going to be LW for them? Kovy is a posibility, of course. Perhaps Mozyakin. But I'd rather prefer someone younger, and we don't have another good young LW in the NHL, and from the KHL it's perhaps Gusev. Of course Znarok will choose Kovy, though.

Currently it doesn't look like a good idea to separate Panarin and Anisimov. And I doubt that Malkin would be good on the line with other guys who like to carry the puck more.

Tarasenko isn't a puck hog. And they looked not bad together in those rare moments at the last WHC. Or you mean Panarin? But he's even a less puck hog than Tarasenko.

No, I mean both Panarin and Tarasenko are better with the puck: both like to carry it to the offensive zone, make some dekes, distribute the puck or shoot it - it is a normal thing usually, but, imo, not for Malkin line. Imo, Malkin is looking better with the right 'supporting cast', not another star players. Also I think that Tarasenko is good enough to be the main star of a separate line and his offensive talent doesn't have to be wasted doing all the dirty stuff (and he would be the best suited player for that on that proposed line).

Currently at FW lines I'd go with something like that:

Kulemin/Plotnikov-Malkin-Kucherov
Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Radulov
Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Plotnikov/Kulemin
Panarin-Anisimov-Tarasenko
Tikhonov

Imo, it would give us 4 more or less balanced equally dangerous lines (at least on paper).

I would just not include Kovalchuk. Completely washed up and would be taking up the icetime of better players like Panarin.

Today I'd take these lines:
Kulemin - Malkin - Tarasenko
Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Radulov
Panarin - Datsyuk - Kucherov
Zaripov - Anisimov - Mozyakin

The problem the Russian team has is that the defense is too weak to be competitive in tournaments like the Olympics. There is a reason that Russia hasn't finished higher than 5th in the Olympics since 2002. It doesn't matter if there are great offensive players like Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk and so on if they are forced to spend 80% of their energy and time in their defensive zone trying to clear pucks. The past WC is a classic case in point - it was a huge mismatch between the Russian defense and the Canadian forwards, and the Canadians just toyed with them as if they were little children! Until the defense problem is fixed, there is no hope of Russia finishing higher than 5th in high level tournaments.

That's laughable. In 2010 had they not drawn a peaking Canada there was not one team that could have stopped them from reaching the Gold Medal game.

The defense is not one of the best, but Russia has enough to win any international tournament, it's a one game decider. And Russia can gather 6 dmen to hold their own for a set of 6-10 games.
