Mozyakin is pretty terrible fit on NHL ice and he's not what he used to be. And when the competition for spots where he could eventually play is Ovechkin, Tarasenko, Kucherov, Kuznetsov... He has no chance against these players. It was good decision to keep him off of this roster. They obviously want to keep Panarin-Shipachyov-Dadonov which is reasonable, and they don't want Mozyakin on the 4th line, it would be useless.

Telegin really earned his spot on WHC. Could be again great 4th liner there. Good decision that Mozyakin was not selected.

How was Telegin great? Anyone that actually watched the championships and not just look at stats knows how terrible he is. Sure he is fast, but that's it, basic skills/offensive capabilities are well below par for KHL standards let alone NT.

How do you know that he is terrible on the NHL ice, no one knows that.

Yeah he just captained his team to a Gagarin Cup, he won MVP of the league, was spectacular during the whole playoffs, won the scoring title, was ppg at the WC's developing great chemistry with Datsyuk....Not what he used to be I guess, did he used to be a god?

Not sure if we watched the same championships, but in the ones I have watched Telegin was great: strong, fast, very good in the board battles and in front of the net, played a high-energy game, also looked good on the PK.

There is a chance to get a medal. Win against Sweden and U-23 and another game in the medal round. Say, against USA.

It's kinda possible, but I'm not a fan of Znarok.

I can see Sweden beating Finland, Finland beating Russia and Russia beating Sweden. That would be very interesting :P Match ups!

While Russian defense is one of the worst Bobrovsky + elite offense + the short tournament = some tiny chance for a medal. They just need to figure out special teams.

Panarin-Shipa-Dadonov = questionable. This is the 3rd line which should make a difference, and it's the weakest in the tournament maybe.

Malkin-Datsyuk-Tarasenko is interesting.

Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Kucherov is not without fail potential either. But what the names!

Namestnikov-Anisimov-Kulemin-Telegin is PK squad.

You'd think there would be plenty of team chemistry for Russia.

11 played in Sochi, 10 won gold at 2014 WHC, 10 finalists from 2015, and 13 from this year's bronze.

Voynov unlikely to be allowed to participate as per Bill Daly.

From ESPN:

The National Hockey League may bar former Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov from the World Cup of Hockey for Team Russia in September in Toronto.

Voynov, who was among the final roster members named to Team Russia on Friday, was suspended by the NHL early in the 2014-15 season after being charged with spousal abuse in the Los Angeles area, and the league announced Friday it would review Voynov's ability to take part in the tournament.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement he did not think Voynov, 26, would be eligible to compete.

"We will obviously have to review his status with the Players' Association prior to the start of the tournament in September," Daly said. "It is not my current expectation that this player will be deemed eligible to play in the World Cup of Hockey."

Pretty hard to imagine forward lines now. I mean, if we are counting on Shipachyov-Dadonov chemistry, it means that one of the centers (Malkin, Datsyuk, Kuznetsov, Anisimov) has to be the 13-th guy.

Surprised to say that I have no complaints at all about the selected roster.

I see players who deserve to be there.

I wanted to see Radulov on the roster, but it would be totaly unfair to Dadonov as he really deserved it.

Radulov instead of Kuz. Kuz to center. Datsyuk to 4th line. Anisimov cut.

You`r welcome, Oleg.

No Kovalchuk and no Radulov wow. I would have expected one of them.

It feels like exaggerated to me when people say that Kovalchuk is some kind of locker room cancer or what ever. Not believing it myself.

I'm also a bit split on Radulov and Kovalchuk. I think Radulov has been a stronger player in the last 2 years, though Kovalchuk's slapshot can come in extremely handy at times. Radulov's strength is his power and determination, the guy is just a beast and can easily distract the attention of 2-3 defencement, leaving other forwards open for an easy goal. But I think Znarok didn't include both players because they're somewhat 'ego oriented'.

Radulov is better than 3F selected today, but you cannot after this Worlds not take Dadonov AND Schipachev + remember, they've played a whole year on the same line with Panarin (2014-2015)

And Telegin had a great WC.

The non selection is understandable. I'd rather to see Radulov instead of Namestnikov.

Radulov is one of the top 3 forwards in Russia, any way you look at it. In Sochi, he vastly outplayed Malkin and Ovechkin, and only fell slightly behind Datsyuk for best Russian forward. He is a fighter and a gamer and fears no one, which you really need in a tournament like that.

I have to believe he is still injured, as it was reported that he had a torn groin muscle before the WC. If that is true, it takes 4 or 5 months for a torn muscle to heal and recover. I don't know if anything else is going on, but short of intrigue of some kind, the only reason they would not take him would be injury.

Mozyakin was unbelievable in the WC's, as he always is. He is such a beautiful goal scorer with probably the deadliest sniper shot in all of the KHL. What about Semin? Instead, its the same old Kulemin and Anisimov, who are really next to worthless in these tournaments. Its just the same old thing, recycled.

I really don't get those complaints about Anisimov/Kulemin/Telegin, you guys do realize that we need at least four decent penalty killing forwards on the team, right?

Still no kovalchuk & Radulov

Telegin was looking solid guy in WHC. Like Pihlström, Pyörälä type less skilled player of Finland. I think Russia is having some typical Finland mentality in their coaching these days - don't try to be the best all star group, but best team - so they take role players like Telegin.

Radulov must've declined the offer, like Jagr (and like I can only assume Hudler...)

Didn't really think he would, but have this sot spot for and was hoping Mikhail Varnakov would make it.

Yes all of those things, no disagreement there. However, now your sounding like Barry Trotz when he went and got guys like Winnik and Richards who were those things which eventually lead to the demise of any offensive depth Washington had, and ultimately the failure of the team.

Telegin has AHL level offensive capabilities, if we watched the same WC you cannot deny that he missed several open nets from world class set ups compliments of Datsyuk and Mozyakin. In an important game do you want some guy who is known for great penalty killing but will flub an open net which may be the game changing goal? Guys like Kulemin Anisimov and even Malkin etc can kill penalties, anyone can do it really. Hell Kovy used to be NJ's best PKer, I would never put a guy on the team whos best attribute is killing a penalty, board work etc, as its usually synonymous for lack of usefulness otherwise. Wayne Gretzky thinks the same thing

I agree, even when you look back at the regular season, he had a solid year. And what about last year, he captained his team to a Gagarin Cup victory? I think he fell victim to the media attacks and it sort of became a self fulfilling prophecy during the playoffs.

Before all of the hoopla in the playoffs there was an article circulating on the KHL board where Rotenburg made a comment about expecting more from him to earn the money they paid. I think the management became but hurt that they paid this guy a ridiculous amount of money thinking they would get some god who would get 2p a game (okay, at least more points than the other 2 gods Rads and Mozy (hey where are they on the WC!)) and it didn't happen, they got a good player instead.

Thank you thank you thank you, finally the voice of reason. Mozyakin has done everything a player could possibly do to make this team and has never been given an opportunity at an olympic/world cup roster. His shot is so effective at a world class level, he has great chemistry with Datsyuk, Malkin. We need to petition or something. You can not like the guy for what ever reason but you cannot deny what he has done, impossible. MVP this, goal scoring champion that, Gagarin cup clinching goal. Look at his alarming list of accolades on his eliteprospect page. Namestnikov is more deserving than Mozyakin is blasphemy.

Putin says "image" is only thing lacking in comparison of KHL to NHL. Well Mr. Putin, things like this that damage the image of your league. Your MVP and unanimous best player in the league the past 8 years cant even make the NT but some 3rd line currently marginal NHLer can (Namestnikov)
