I see Thornton and Getzlaf being tied at the hip on the 4th line, it makes sense to me with Perry not on the team. The old guard being slowly phased out.

The key guy to me is going to be Bergeron, he can play anywhere and his RH shot is big. I think him and Tavares will be joined at the hip, they kind of have a bro-crush thing, Tavares goes out of his way to rave about him any chance he gets. Bergeron would be great with Toews, Crosby, whoever... the guy is a freaking beast.

But don't Thornton and Getzlaf play essentially the same type of game - seems kinda redundant to me.

I think Bergeron slots in with Crosby, they've played well together in the past, and Stamkos on the RW with them.

Bergeron-Crosby-Stamkos
Benn-Tavares-Seguin
Marchand-Toews-Carter
Duchene-Getzlaf-Giroux
Thornton

Something like that? Idk obviously there's a number of different directions they could go.

Hall-Couture-Perry
Gallagher-Spezza-Stone
Brassard-O'Reilly-Simmonds
Hoffman-B.Schenn-Toffoli
Ladd

Brodie-Subban
Giordano-Letang
Seabrook-Barrie
Tanev

Jones
Luongo
Elliott

Still better than the US team without Kessel, Johnson and Faulk.

Disappointed they passed on Taylor Hall yet again. I would have taken one of the Flames dmen over Muzzin as well.

I like how you have it. You're right that they can go in different directions so it's hard to speculate now. I think the 4C's are pretty much etched in stone and that's all we can go on currently.

It's about damn time Canada didn't snub Giroux. Leaving him off of the Sochi team was a disgrace.

When was the last time Weber was actually a great defensive player? Picking him over Subban or Letang is the only ridiculous choice the TC brass made.

Hall not making it sucks, but not an egregious choice.

I think you'll see:

Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Benn - Tavares - sequin

Or

Benn - Crosby - Stamkos
Marchand- Bergeron - Seguin

This isn't true at all and it's only ever said by Oiler fans. Duchene is very good at getting the best out of his linemates and has been phenomenal every time he's ever represented HC. Oilers fans don't like that he took points away from Hall at the WHC a few years back and that he didn't immiedietely look to dish the puck to McDavid every time he touched it this year. Every other Canadian fan is happy with the Duchene choice (just like they loved the Duchene/McDavid duo). Oilers fans are the only ones who have this (extremely false) perception of him.

Duchene's play reminds me of Eberle when he has the puck - holds onto it for way, WAY too long and doesn't use his linemates effectively at all.

People are allowed to not be fans of players, you know. I readily admit hes very talented. I just don't like his playstyle.

All I hear is bitterness. Duchene finished second on the team in points, he makes everybody in the NHL around him better. Just because he didn't spoon feed McDavid the puck, or cater to Hall a few years ago, does not make him a selfish puck hog. You and the rest of your Oilers fans might want to wake up and realize that practically every fan of other teams, and Team Canada's brass (twice now), realizes how good of a player Duchene is.

He's ridiculously strong on the puck down low, he was used on the PK by Team Canada, clear trusted by the coaches (out there with seconds to go in the gold medal game), and pretty good defensively when he puts in the effort. You're just being utterly ridiculous.

Hall played more minutes than anyone in the gold medal game, if you want to pull that card.

Considering they brought two wingers - total - Canada's gameplan is obviously to absolutely overload on centres. A few extra makes some sense but 11 of 13 players are natural centres.

I have to laugh at all the hurt feelings here. We brag all the time about Canadian depth, how no one can touch us in this regard, how we can ice three teams and still contend, then cry when there isn't enough room for every one on a 23-man roster.

Oh, we just know that drooling idiots everywhere will use this exclusion to run down Hall's value for the next few years. They'll do the same thing to Subban.

And having versatile centers trumps having wingers that can only play wing. In the case of Duchene he can play center/wing and is one of the best at taking face-offs.
