USA is sending a junior team.

This will end with a relegation.

The level of World Championship is not that bad that you can send a half-good junior team.
Cute and impassioned, but we'll do fine. We usually send maybe 1 or 2 less non-NHlers, all the while managing to do quite fine.

And oh yes it absolutely is...

I want to see Connor/Matthews/Larkin on the big ice together.

A lot of young players again this year, Demko will need to pull a Helle for them to go far, and he could do it.

No.

Take Kazakhstan as exemple, second worst team after Hungary....and still they have a team full of KHLers.

And our team is full of NHL/AHL players, and the few college kids are at that level too. Which is basically the same as a handful of decent KHL players, plus a bottom depth of crappy KHL and Kazakh league players which is what Kazakhstan has.

As has already been pointed out all the US has to do is beat Hungary. A team that called in a legit junior player from the USHL and only has a few guys at the top levels of European hockey.

If everything comes together right this team makes the top four and gets a knockout game. But it would take something catastrophic to be last.

You guys are out to lunch if you think that this team will fight for last place. It depends how they gel together. They should make QF comfortably. These college kids + Matthews, Fasching, Foligno and Larkin will blaze opponents with speed, tenacity and creativity.

But they really have to play as a team because France / Germany / Belarus / Slovakia will play them real hard and they will show them European brand of hockey. Good thing that USA have Maroon, Hendricks, Glendening to take care of this aspect, too. And grind opponents.

Last year's Team USA was also pretty lame on paper and they ended up taking the bronze so I dunno why some are ranking this team next to Hungary and Kazakhstan.

They'll make the QF at least.

Hinostroza? Not to be rude but you must not follow too closely since he was on the U20 team two years ago and was our second leading scorer. Also played for u18s

Ditto college hockey or AHL

He had a goal against Czech and four points against Germany (was in Italy for this one), so I guess that's why I don't remember him.

USA will finish 3rd or 4th in the group and then take on either the Czechs/Swedes or Russia in a 1/4 final matchup.

Wasn't a great team that year unfortunately

Not saying he's a star but he's a PPG player for US youth teams and has a decent scoring rate in the AHL and NCAA

Exactly what I was thinking.but I'll admit last year I was a bit surprised we made it that far.we should be fine this year too

I'm going to get behind this team 100% and hope they do well, but I am disappointed yet again in the available high end American players who continuously say no to suiting up for this. Just for once I would like USA Hockey to try and put together a team like Canada did last year and really go for it. I mean the US is a hockey power but hasn't come close to winning this thing since the 30's. Won't stop me from cheering this group on though!!!

Here is the last missing piece.

51 points in 66 games, 5'10'' 160lbs

42nd best scorer in AHL this year. :amazed:

Hungary has one FEL player, one SHL player, one USHL and the rest are locals from 3 hungarian teams. US should be able to beat these guys easily to avoid the relegation.

What really annoys me is that these guys will be suiting up for the u23 ******** team but not ours now. It is what it is.

Canada is stacked. We are not. Perry was added to the WC team, probably as an audition to be included in the WC. I know we have a lot of RFA's/UFA's, but there's gotta be some players out there willing to pay USA Hockey back for helping their path to the NHL.

Our teams used to be so much better, 2012 team is lightyears ahead of this one.
-Abdelkader, Atkinson, Braun, Faulk, Fowler, Goligoski, JJ, Okposo, Pacioretty, Palmieri, Ryan, Smith, Stastny.

A lot of those guys were in a similar boat then to the guys now. Young unproven but talented.

Unfortunately our stacked 2013 u20 team was three years ago. Three years us the length of entry level deals. So lots of RFAs and next two cycles weren't great.

Regardless I'm telling you Americans are the least patriotic pro athletes. Just isn't the level of interest in international competition as in most countries.

Yeah, it's a shame more players don't come. Established American NHL stars just will never come and play. They don't see the appeal and won't come. Team will always be made up of lots of young kids cause those are the only ones who say yes. Wish that wasn't the case but it's just the way it is.

As it relates to only hockey and the attitude towards international competition/tournaments

In the U.S. it just isn't all that important.

In Canada it is only marginally important to very important depending on the tournament.

In Europe extremely important.

And of course then there's Russia... where it is SUPER PUPER x2 HYPER IMPORTANT.

Steven Santini complete Team USA roster. Young team but def least QF team.

Steven Santini added to the team. Team is likely now set for their first game. One defenseman and one forward to add after 2nd round of the playoffs

Nah Americans pretty much only show up for Olympic basketball and hockey. That's it. The rest are like this, a hodge podge of who's interested enough.
