In fiction writing, you can never have the hero just sleepwalk to victory. You have to have the villain take control so the hero can come back and make the victory that much sweeter in the end.

Same rules apply here.

I'm torn. On one hand, PK deserves a huge ****ing **** you especially after the latest revelations. On the other hand, JR completely ****ing wrecked this team, last thing I want to see is him have success at this juncture while Francis is still cleaning up the mess he left here. I might feel different if we had made the playoffs this year but we didn't so here we are.

PKs comments about how dumb it was to trade for Kessel are the clincher here for me. **** you you old *******, you don't know anything about hockey anymore so shut it.

I don't really feel one way or the other about it. At the time of JR's firing, the team was stagnant and due for a major overhaul. The captain, the coach, the GM, and the owner all had to go. We're 3 out of 4 at this point; unfortunately, the 4th is the hardest to get rid of and only getting harder. Still, whatever any of them accomplishes afterwards doesn't change that. The status quo wasn't working and sometimes it's best to just turn the page. And honestly, I'm glad JR got a new job. Who knows how much weight his opinion would have carried if he had stayed on in an advisory role. RF is free to be his own man this way.

That said, I'm sick of hearing about the Pens. Go Sharks.

Owners or employees of professional hockey teams? On record with their name attached to it? About their former employee/partner no less?

Oh. Well no. I thought you were talking about the merits of the trade.

I thought we established PK was senile when he did that interview on a game broadcast at the end of last season.

As to the series, I made it known a while back I was cheering for the Penguins.

What i did not understand was how the Sharks were seen as the prohibitive favorite in this series. I saw it in the media and in regular fans. It was weird how Pittsburgh was being discounted. At least IMO.

I didn't think it was great value at the time either. I also didn't compare him to Semin like PK did.

I don't think he's senile, he's just an arrogant rich old blowhard.

Sharks got to play their four-line game at home. That was more of what I expected to see early on in the series.

Thornton and Couture were hosses tonight, I think they played more than any of the Sharks d-men.

Commentators noted they were basically playing 10 forwards. That was either in 3rd or OT.

Are any of you fine people watching the game somewhere in the Triangle tomorrow? Or is there a place where hockey fans tend to congregate? Would love to have company.

Probably going to watch it at Lynnwood Grill. 50 cent wing night + SCF + great beer.

i wish i could grow a beard. i mean i can pull off a solid goatee, with a soul patch, but all i can do on my cheeks is just random patches :(

I could probably grow a beard if I really tried, but I can't stand the itchiness after a couple of days without shaving.
