Hell baby
I was thinking more in scouting & development but I can see Kelly being useful somewhere

Wow the wind took that Ortiz should have been on second

Ahhh could definitely see that too

Retain Romero by any means necessary, Boston. Even with us hit with international penalties this year he had been critical to the development of the organization

BC gave $160+ M for Pablo Sandoval & Rusney Castillo and he's a great GM.

Don Sweeney traded Dougie Hamilton for 3 prospects who all will probably be better than him and he's a bum

BWAHAHAHAH

:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

Rinaldo for a third.

Ben won a ring. Maybe Don can make the playoffs eventually.

Also, Bens prospects were highly rated and are now awesome. When might a Sweeney draftee play in the NHL?

I don't know how much credit I give baseball GMs for drafts. We drafted well under Theo. We drafted well under Ben. We'll draft well under Dombrowski. The GMs aren't watching that much high school baseball or flying to Aruba to watch some kid work out. We have a good staff of scouts. Probably always will with this ownership group.

FWIW: He came close to winning the bid for Abreu, but they didn't go all out because of Napoli. So Rusney wouldn't have happened in another reality.

All moves in 2013 worked and made most teams re-define their free agent strategy. Those "high money, shorter team" deals were en vogue. All in all he made some blunders as I said, but there are several worse GMs in baseball currently being employed by other teams.

I will be pissed if Machado ends up a Yankees when he hits FA.

He's the best third baseman I've seen since Schmidt. Brett was close.

Machado is preposterously good.

If they didn't have a good fielder in JJ Hardy he might have even been playing SS. Which would make his production even more insane.

But as is him and Arenado are both absolutely sensational defensively. Not a lot of people get to see Arenado in the field due to him being in Colorado but it is just as glorious

This is a sneaky big game. Orioles are back in 2nd and only 2 back. Big difference between 1 game lead and 3 game lead.

Several FA's have been expected to be signed the Yanks and it didn't happen (CC for example), but watch out for the Yanks in free agency 2017. Harper is a lock IMO (he also wants to go there). We can only hope someone else overpays Machado.
The Yanks and Sox could have another mid 2000's rivalry upcoming with all the kids on both sides.

Imagine ******** on Ben Cherington by talking about Dougie Hamilton. Amazing.

Is there a rule?

Baseball is my sport I take a back seat to know one. I admit hockey I'm a bit raw on but hard ball I'm right there with Peter Gammons.

I can talk Gas House Gang, Connie Mack's A's, or the 62 Cubs 4 HOF lineup to be with 100 loses.

You can question my hockey knowledge but I am a Hardball God

If Don Sweeney gave Rusney Castillo $72 M he'd be buried under the lighthouse at Gillette Stadium

Cherrington should send bottles of champagne to Porcello and Hanley. They are making him lot smaht

The only FA I want the Yankees to get is Bryce Harper because I can't stand him

Oh I love Ben. I'd hire him to run my team but I like it when Mike rips on me. Mike's smart so it's interesting to see what he will come up with

I think Mike should be on Around the Horn or First Take. His knowledge and passion is outstanding

As I said I give Ben an A++ for not trading those kids for pitchers that could have saved his job

He's actually admitted to Castillo but he can't do it without John Henry

My intuition tells me Werner 'suggested' Sandoval - he was hurt in many ways over his meal ticket Bill Cosby troubles and it was a perfect storm with ratings down the Pandanania that was prevalent

Let him run the show he will be very good

I would love to see the other beantown gm's work with a hard cap like a NHL gm has to. They are all brilliant when you can kick your mistakes to the curb or keep spending until you get it right or have players redo their contracts when ever they feel like it to "help" the teams cap situation when you **** it up

DS will be judge favorably if being able to stick to his plan.

What mistakes has Belichick's players bailed him out of contract wise?

All teams in each league work under the same rules. And there are very few teams I'd trade situations with if I'm the Celtics, Patriots or Red Sox. Not the case for the Bruins. That says all you need to know. It's not harder to be an NHL GM. You're still competing with other NHL GMs operating under the same rules.

Red Sox might lose another series in which they outscore their opponent. It happens a lot since the ASB. They should be leading the division way more comfortably and fighting with the Rangers for the #1 seed.
