The level of grab ass with the Ortiz retirement stuff is frustrating.

The Blue Jays just presented him with a jacket. This is a team that you've just fallen a game behind of for your division and you're honoring their star player.... I get it. Everyone does this stuff. They did it for Jeter and Rivera as well. Maybe it's a baseball thing. To me, it would be the equivalent of the Bruins honoring Patrick Roy.

Especially considering the over the top villainization of other players who had the same "meal plan" as Ortiz.

Well... He did tell the Habs and their fans to **** off and won two cups elsewhere. :sarcasm:

And were you referring to the Sox honouring Yankees or Blue Jays honouring Ortiz as comparable?

Leaving Porcello in for the 8th when he was already over 110 pitches?

NVM - ESPN App sucks.

Well that went much better than I could have ever imagined...guaranteed a winning road trip. Hopefully they can grab at least one of the next two and I will be very happy.

Is Porcello now the front runner for the Cy Young?

He's not the best pitcher statistically but there's a good chance he'll be the only 20-game winner, and on a division winning team, so he'll have a shot.

I saw some chart that uses a certain algorithm that has him as the favorite, and that was heading into tonight. I'm not sure how they weight everything though. I'll try and find it- it obviously isnt really that credible since we all know the voting process isn't a science, but I thought it was interesting

Whether we agree with it or not, we all know the voters still look at wins and ERA...if he ends up with something like 22 wins (4 or 5 more than Sale/Verlander/Kluber), a low-3's ERA, and 220 or so IP on a division winning team, I think he gets it.

Common sense says this guy is the CY Young winner as of today. The only way he doesn't get it is if stat geeks try to show how smart they are. He goes 22-4 with a 3.30 era he's the winner

ESPN has a predictor that has him as the favorite, yeah. I'd love for him to win, it just won't be a travesty if he doesn't. Unless you loses to Britton. No way relievers should win.

Blue Jays puking all over themselves down the stretch here.

That last series at Fenway might not matter after all.

Maybe not for us but the Blue Jays have to be worried about NYY

Worst case scenario would be Sox getting knocked out of playoff position when Damn Yankees sweep them at Fenway.(not unheard of)

:banghead::baghead::surrender

Let's not even go there

Well NYY has been playing very well since A-Rod was fired.

If the Red Sox win the division they most likely will meet Cleveland.

How badly does Francona want that matchup?

I'll take that right now
