These are never that accurate 9 months later but it'd be pretty great to get guys like Sokolov, Howden and Green in the 2nd/3rd round.

I can't see Sokolov going after 20th even with the Russian factor. I don't think anyone wants to watch another Terasenko pass them by.

Alex DeBrincat with 5 goals against the IceDogs tonight.

With no McDavid or Strome to lean on is a nice night for the 2016 draft eligible player.

DeBrincat is going to be one of the players Marner will likely compete against for the OHL scoring title this year.

we need to unite the nylanders in toronto

Willie's little brother Alex has 2-4-6 points in his first 3 games and off to a great start this year and started the year #6 overall in Bob McKenzie's preliminary rankings.

It would be pretty cool to have Nylander X 2 on the Leafs.

That was a nasty goal by Nylander.

Should be interesting to see Tkachuk on Marner's wing tonight.

Alright in love with Nylander Jr.

Logan Brown... Has the size, skill, and can skate. Unreal.

Jones and Tkachuk... Pretty impressive.

I can't tell if it's the Sam Reinhart effect, where he is silently impactful and therefore can put up points, but Brown seemed very average last night.

His skating looked smooth for a player that's supposed to be 6'5" but I was shocked to hear he actually had 3 points. Then again, he scored twice (I believe) and one was that super fast OT goal, so maybe.

The whole Jones vs Tkachuk debate is kind of interesting. If I were to choose with say, the 5th pick and it was between them, I may actually go with Max Jones. In the 3 games so far, he has come across as a more impactful player. He finishes his checks hard, he skates incredibly well, his motor is like Marner's but he's 6'2", 220. He seems like Lawson Crouse but I think he can put up more points. I think I'm being a bit unfair to Tkachuk because he has been offensively outstanding. He drives the play (until Marner got on the ice) and has great offensive smarts. That hit in the neutral zone scared more though. I couldn't tell if he was hurt or just selling it.

Alex Nylander has been playing GREAT. He definitely has the same skill set as Willie. He comes across as more of a winger, driving off the boards. Obviously because he is playing the wing so he should be on the boards but I remember seeing plays of Willie on the wing and he'd always find a way to move into the centre of the ice. I think he could be a top 10 pick.

Sokolov I think could either get the Zacha treatment or his draft stock could be absolutely effected by his team's talent level. He has as much skill as any of the players in the projected top 10 but man, that Wolves team is hard to watch. That Levins kid could help, but it's clear, to me, that Vilardi (Windsor) was the better player in the draft.

Chychrun's Chychrun and Matthews is Matthews. My sleeper pick is Brett Howden. Big, rangy forward who can play centre and winger. I think he could become a Dylan Larkin kind of player. He's definitely impressed so far this season and has been putting decent points. I actually really hope we don't trade down out of the first round this year.

Unless Hunter feels he can nail later round picks again, I sincerely hope we pick twice in the top 30 as well. I like the depth in this draft better than last years. I could totally see guys ranked in the later part of the round like Sergachyev, Abramov and Debrincat become stars in the big leagues.

My dream: #1/2 - Matthews/Chychrun

Realistically: #3/4 - Tkachuk, Jones, Puljujärvi or Brown if he has a big year.

I'd prefer one of the latter three over Tkachuk simply based on size, unless Tkachuk has a monster year playing with Marner and it makes sense to have the duo. I think Puljujarvi uses his size more effectively offensively than Jones, and I really liked what I saw from him at the last WJC.

Also, Logan Brown makes Gauthier's skating look like trash.

i know this is a 2016 draft thread, but has anyone seen nolan patrick play, i really want the leafs to get him 2017

I've seen him play for the Brandon Wheat Kings (but last year) as they faced my Rockets in the WHL playoffs.

He played for Canada at the U-18 Ivan Hlinka tournament record 3-2-5 points in 4 games as Canada won gold.

He is an elite talent and if he were available in 2016 he would be a top 5 pick easily. He plays like he is 18 and not 16 last year.

yeah he is the clear num 1 for 2017 right, i have another question how come he gets to play 3 full years in the chl and he played 3 games in his 1st year. He played when he was 14 right, how did he get too do that or am i mistaken

Same situation as Auston Matthews. He's born a few days after the cuttoff and has to wait another year to get drafted.
