Well Alex is bigger and stronger than Will was at that time in his career. That might be a reason why he is ranked higher. And if I remember correctly, many scouts have said that he has much better defensive game. That could be a reason for being ranked higher, as well as progress of his brother, I think that we have to take that also in consideration. I would love to get him, from what I have seen, that is 2 games and a few youtube videos, he is going to be good complimentary top6 player. Preferably he fells to Pittsburghs pick and we are able to add someone else before him, I wouldn't mind some additional size and mobility.

Logan Brown with 1G + 1A at last night's prospects game, and has travelled along with Pat Kirwan, to join the Spits in the Soo tonight.

Brown's presence was missed large, last night. It will be good to get him going.

It's always fun to compare the rankings from the beginning of the year to the end of year one. There's usually quite a bit of movement.

Matthews will definitely be the consensus #1 pick though. The kid is almost guaranteed a franchise player in the making.

Havent really seen much of this year's crop yet but from what i have read on scouting reports, Max Jones is the guy i like right now if we dont end up with a top 3 pick. We need a power forward with skill to compliment the likes
of Marner, Nylander, Brown etc.

i agree with you but i think we are better off with the defenseman with top pairing upside. outside of rielly we dont really have one of those in the system. i think we can find a big winger easier outside of the top 5 picks then we can a top pairing defenseman. at the end of the day, just like the marner pick, i will be happy with who ever hunter takes as i know he will take the bpa.

Size is a big deal, but the entire top 15 is littered with forwards with size

Matthews 6'2" 194 lbs.
Chychrun 6'2" 195 lbs. (D)
Puljujarvi 6'3" 198 lbs.
Laine 6'4" 209 lbs.
Tkachuck 6'1" 188 lbs.
McLeod 6'2" 188 lbs.
Dubois 6'3" 201 lbs.
Jones 6'1" 189 lbs.
Gauthier 6'4" 212 lbs
Sokolov 6' 203 lbs.
Juolevi 6'2" 185 lbs. (D)
Bensen 6' 198 lbs.
Sergachyov 6'2" 198 lbs.(D)

Of the top 15 only Nylander (6' 172 lbs.) and Calgue (6' 177 lbs.) (D) are small

Well Sokolov and Benson aren't exactly big at 6 feet, just and just under or over 200 pounds. It's not small but it ain't big.

Matthews is Eichel calibre if not better. There's nothing to worry about when it comes to him and his game. Guaranteed star player.

Don't really agree here. Matthews has been stronger up until draft year than Eichel, but what makes Eichel special is the explosive development he had coming into his draft year. One shouldn't take for granted that Matthews will match that.

6' 200 lbs. is huge at 18. They may not be tall but they are bulky. Maybe they top out at 220 like Kulemin and thats a tank of a player.

Please Oh dear lord let us draft Patrik Laine. Unbelievable talent. Ahead of Puljujärvi and just getting better. Tkachuk and Chychrun are next on my wishlist but for now def #Lainebandwagon jump on :)

Matthew Tkachuk has been great so far to start the season. Has 6 pts through 2 games (2nd game ongoing). Had a nice assist in the 1st period tonight.

Juolevi picked up an assist in the 1st as well.

Even if Piccinich/Marner werent Leafs prospects the Knights would still be the team to watch. Tkachuk/Jones are prime candidates for the Leafs first pick. Juoveli is a prime candidate for the Pitts pick and Mete for the Leafs 2nd round pick. Plus Rymsha/Parsons for later round picks.

I think by the end of the season Juolevi is probably top ten and the consolation prize for teams looking for a dman that don't get Chychrun.

This is an unlikely scenario, but say the Leafs are drafting 4-6th OA. That is prime Tkachuck and Jones territory. Let's say they are dead even in perceived potential(So it is personal preference deciding the tie breaker), do you think Marner's personal opinion (Or preferential line mate) would factor into the Leaf's choice?

i dont think management would value a players input. im sure hunter amd the gang will have a clear preference for one reason or another. there never is a tie. 2 prospects can be close but i would be shocked if there wasnt a distinct preference. i think leafs would covet tkchuck over jones but who knows. maybe we get lucky and get matthews

I'm really happy that his draft has a lot of big and skilled players at the top. We will need some size in the mix.

Should be a very fun team to watch this year. Their offense already looks pretty lethal and that is without Marner and Dvorak.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mete ends up being a 1st rounder.
