Ravens apparently are going to cut Eugene Monroe. They don't like that he criticizes the NFL for over-use of pain killers. He is also VERY pro pot, and Harbaugh doesn't like that at all.

Bigger guarantee or a one way ticket out of Denver depending on who you ask.

Bigger or biggest? Does he want the highest ever for a non-QB? So many reports about what he has rejected but I haven't seen much on what he's actually looking for.

well since fletcher cox just got the highest guarantee for non-QB, i'd assume von wants to beat that.

i think they have agreement on total money (it was around 22M per year or something).

Who knows.

And wanting and getting are two different things.

Elway still holds decent leverage and can franchise Von two more times costing $51M total for the next three seasons. Von can sit out the year but his signing would draw a 1st & 3rd compensation to the Broncos and he'd have to make up the lost $14M.

$114 over 6

As is usually the case. Next guy wants to be the last guy, plus Von is the best defensive player after JJ Watt so he can reasonably ask for the most.

Start the Broncos and Seahawks jokes.

Lack of them on Twitter has me worried :amazed:

Doesn't help that they drafted Stanley.

In the offer from the Broncos that was turned away by Miller and his representatives, there was $38.9 million in guaranteed money in the first two years of deal, $58 million in potential guarantees overall. Vernon has $52.5 million worth of potential guarantees in a five-year, $85 million deal with $40.5 million guaranteed on signing and $12 million more potentially guaranteed on the fifth day of the league year in 2018.

In Cox's six-year, $102.6 million deal signed this week, he received $36.299 million in guaranteed money at signing and additional $19.25 million in additional salary guarantees in March of 2017 for $55.549 million in guarantees within nine months of signing.

More about structure than anything.

They also don't like it when he misses over 50% of the games. Which is probably the biggest reason he's getting cut.

Its weird that they are cutting a guy because hes advocating marijuana use when they signed ryan mallet last year who has had drug abuse rumors follow him his entire college and pro career.

....can't stand Notre Dame or the Ravens, but I like Ronnie Stanley

http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2016/06/15/ronnie-stanley-adopted-a-dog-from-barcs-in-baltimore/

Ravens Offensive Tackle #79 Ronnie Stanley visited BARCS in search of adding a pup to his family. He was accompanied to our shelter by his girlfriend, along with his team mate, Alexander Lewis (#72). When they checked into our front desk, they let us know just what they were looking for--and for a superstar like Ronnie...you'll never guess what requested. "We are looking for dog that's been here a long time and maybe not-so-adoptable." Our matchmakers were delighted. "Not-so-adoptable" can mean a lot of things here...senior pets, physically imperfect, on-going medical and more.

Our BARCS staff showed Ronnie and his girlfriend a few pets that fit his (seriously awesome) criteria. Winter was the lucky dog that caught Ronnie's eye.
Beautiful Winter is a dog who has spent most of her six years of life falling into sad, unfortunate situations. She was found on a vacant property, on a hot day with no electricity, or open windows. She was dehydrated and extremely frightened. Winter has a long, hanging belly, mostly likely a result of over breeding--something we see far too often at our shelter. Due to her age, her belly is not something that will ever tighten up. Female dogs with such characteristics are often passed by in our shelter--but not by Ronnie!

remember when he was the "can't miss" prospect of his draft year?

so of course the jags took him 8th then traded him for a 4th and a 5th a few years later

I disagree. I think this is exactly something Von Miller would do. I think he knew he was doing this the whole time. It was a big decision and I'm glad he made it clear what his intentions are. It's important that the Denver Broncos know exactly what his plans are for the coming season.

Now who blinks first. Elway sure loves to play hardball. I understand why they did it with Osweiler but Von Miller is one of the best football players on the planet.

I believe it when I see it. Players don't give up that kind of money in the prime of their career.

Not necessarily. He won't be sitting out the season, nor be playing under the franchise tag because there will be an extension.

Well, he's not really in control of that. Seems kinda odd to rule out the two options that you do have control over.

In other news, Ron Rivera is getting a 1 year extension for $6m+. Kinda odd that it's only for 1 year, but I'm still not 100% sold on the guy despite the 47-32-1 record. He got out-coached big time in the Super Bowl.

Well it started by cropping Elway out of a photo and now this.

Gotta be Elway. You just can't afford to lose that kind of a player, especially after winning it all. Like you said, Miller is one of the best in the world so its not the best situation to play hardball in.

Not necessarily. He won't be sitting out the season, nor be playing under the franchise tag because there will be an extension.

As soon as they give him what he deserves, yes.

Good to hear, because I've had some Panthers fans tell me he's the new Belichick/Parcells :help:

I read that Miller thing as "eiher you give me what i want (not taggged) or i'll ask you to send me to somebody who will"

He said he's not sitting out 2016, but at the same time doesn't want to be tagged. Maybe a trade if they keep screwing him around?

you want a contentious negotiation, look at Wilkerson and the Jets.

Elway has pretty good control for the next three seasons so he has decent leverage.

If Von were to hold out for the year and sign elsewhere he'd return a 1st and 3rd in compensation to the Broncos. So the price would have to be better than that and keeping him off another team's roster for a year.

Meanwhile Von loses a year and would need an extra $14M or $19M on his next deal to make up the lost wages.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...sburgh-steelers-had-seven-procedures-left-leg

The Steelers' Maurkice Pouncey is relieved to be back on the field after a horrific 2015 season that saw the Pro Bowl center undergo six surgical procedures and a skin graft, he told ESPN.

Pouncey broke his left fibula in the preseason when Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix fell onto the back of his leg. Packers receiver Jordy Nelson also tore his anterior cruciate ligament in that Aug. 23 game.

Pouncey suffered a setback in October. The surgical wound didn't close properly, resulting in a staph infection.

"It was scary," Pouncey said. "I don't want that on my worst enemy."

I am very ambivalent about this.

I don't normally post this stuff, but considering Oher's stance on this movie, it's kinda funny.
