Is Mitch Marner a top 20 player in the NHL?

No, he’s as bad as people claim and just using his playoff ppg doesn’t paint the whole picture at all.

You're right that Marner being one of the top 10 offensive players in the league over past 6 years doesn't paint the entire picture.

He also has a Selke nom and is fantastic defensively.

Seriously, the underrating of Marner is crazy.

If a winger had 99 points and a Selke nom playing for Nashville or some other neutral team that people don't hate, the glazing on this site would be next level.

I voted top 30, it’s just too difficult for me to rank Marner as a forward against all of the great defensemen and goalies in the league

For forwards I think he’s easily top 20, but with all the other positions included I have no idea

I don't think anyone is underrating him. He's a fantastic player. If he is a top 20 player in the league though who does he displace out of the top 20 from the players listed previously?

That puts him him just outside the top 20 and there's still some names out there you could argue for.

I would add Morrissey to that list as well. If I had to pick between Josh and Mitch to start a team, it sure as heck would not be Mitch.

But there are too many excellent defensemen and goalies to have him top 20 overall.
Hughes, Fox, Makar, Josi, Hedman, McAvoy, Heiskenan, etc.
Vasi, Helle, Shestyerkin, Bob, etc.

I don't think i'd take that many goalies over him but centers sure.
