Really? You're gonna blame Gauthier?

And the fact that our defence is a mess and Brennan only cares about scoring goals rather than playing defense has no involvement?

I didn't word that right. Any long term strategy that relies on Gauthier producing rather than just carrying him is doomed to failure. And right now Gauthier is a 2C playing with two of our top five forwards. Soshnikov won't even pass the puck to him anymore and just tries to do it all himself which isn't good for anyone.

The D is having a hard time because of the adjustments made to stop the Marlies breakouts. But your point stands about the D they are not adjusting well.

Why would it change anything? We should trade according to what the other club thinks our commodity is worth.

Oh, what I mean is that they will have to play those player next season and give them a fair shake rather than load up on UFAs like this year. Just means they may be less willing to take on dumps.

Ahhhh. I get ya. Thanks
I think they will still have a few FA'S next year but I agree with you that we will not have as many as this year.

Marlies are in a rut lately, as every team gets into. However the defence needs to be better

Gauthier is a fine player:)

Who are those scrubs on the fourth line? Ugh... so much for the four line Marlies (for the time being).

The second line is very lackluster as well. Findlay as the centre? Frattin? Ugh.

The Panik trade was dumb. He was a good fit with Nylander and Leivo and there was really no need to acquire Morin.

Still, when everyone's healthy/back in the AHL, they'll have three very good lines... assuming Arcobello isn't sent back there.

Kapanen Nylander Leivo
Leispsic Hyman Brown
Lindberg Gauthier Soshnikov
Frattin Some Random Jabroni Clune

If Arcobello returns, then move Hyman and Gauthier down a slot.

Hyman is not a C. When Nylander graduates next season the Marlies will probably sign a veteran C to play top line minutes. Only viable options are Gauthier, Carrick and Camoranesi (assuming Toninato stays another year)

Just wondering what's the future of Arcobello with the Leafs - is he going to be a life time AHLer?

I liked him with the Oilers and I think he can be a decent 4th liner, but he looked off with the Leafs until yesterday so maybe he turns it around.

Yes that's why I was wondering why he was playing in the AHL, he looked pretty good last night

If the kids keep looking good it could change what we are willing to take back in trades.

Not a great idea to have to many UFAs next year while having older kids rotting.

yeah that's what ive been saying all year, a lot of these kids are 22-24 range, not the green 18-21 range. So you would think if you could place a few of the older ones on the team it wont hurt they have matured. they are still considered rookies just well seasoned. where as you could still have a couple or few like nylander and marner insulated by the seasoned ones as well. instead of grabbing more vets on 1 year deals why not just see what you have

I see what you did there :sarcasm: #leafslunch

I like Gauthier though.
He does so many things exceptionally well except score.
There's a place for him in the game.

hes also playing on the 3rd line in his rookie year. If Nylander is with the big club next year, then Freddie should end up as the 2nd line center and score more. I wasn't expecting much more than what he's doing now this year. As long as he keeps improving I'm not worried about the goat

Is it the odd resolution tricking me, or do the Ice Caps play on olympic size ice?

Pretty sure it's NHL size

I'd say they're mostly 20-22, Nylander and Kap are 19 obviously, but the Leivo's Leipsic's, Brown, Gauthier, Soshnikov, Lindberg, Percy, Loov, Valiev are all in that range. Are any of them above 22? Hyman maybe?

im in alberta so does the game start at 130 or 2 or am I screwing up the times

The 1st period is already over

As much as it pains me to say it, the Ice Caps are one of the teams that can come close to Marlies skill level. Reinforces my idea that the team cant keep on trying to outskilling the other team or they will learn a harsh lesson in the playoffs.
