If the kids keep looking good it could change what we are willing to take back in trades.

Not a great idea to have to many UFAs next year while having older kids rotting.

Why would it change anything? We should trade according to what the other club thinks our commodity is worth.

Is there any way to find AHL analytics numbers?

Also where can i look at all the possession stats for leafs players?

Marlies are just not playing well ATM. Nylander and Brown haven't got their legs back and teams are adjusting to the Marlies systems. Marlies have lost a lot of guys to the big club and to trades. I don't like Nylander playing with his buddies (Kapanen) because he is looking to pass way too much. Nylander needs to shoot first. He has the best shot in the AHL.

Any scenario where Gauthier is getting more minutes the Marlies lose. And Gauthier is getting more minutes.

With a full team, why are they going to lose?

Because even with a full team, our defense will still be ****. The Ice Caps have always known how to expose our defense and without good defense, we will not be able to match them in a 5 game series. You can't just outscore your problems in the playoffs.

If we want to get into the call-up/injury thing the IceCaps have been dealing with it too, trying to save the Habs train wreck of a season.

Barberio
Andrighetto
Carr(was called up and now injured for three months)
Lessio(called up and injured)
De La Rose(might be a good thing)
Bournival(injured)
Dumont(was missing for the entire 3rd period last night)
Scherbak(gone for most of the season, only now finding his way back)

Both teams are effected by this.Once the Habs miss the playoffs we will get Barberio,Andrighetto, and perhaps Scrivens(unsure of how it works) if we make it.

So does that Ice-Caps team with everyone healthy beat a healthy Marlies team?

Considering our record against you guys we have.Once in November and twice in December.Feel free to keep underestimating the IceCaps.

Really we should have swept you guys in November if we didn't piss down our leg and blow a four goal lead.

Yes. We certainly trust your bang-on analysis on Gauthier. He's definitely the reason the Marlies are in a skid.

Good gods. Give your head a shake and take a lap.

Who said that we're underestimating the IceCaps?

I'm asking you the question about who wins with a fully healthy team.

My bad was more so referring to the other posts by others, but it depends on our goaltending.Fucale has been hot/cold this season and our backup Eddie Pasquale has been the same. Our D at times is shaky and turns the puck over a lot.We allow a lot of shots at times too.I'm a Habs/IceCaps fan so you know who I'm going to pick.In a five game series it will go five games.(Assuming we play in the first round).

Most fans here need to realize the Calder Cup isn't won in February.A lot can happen especially in two weeks.Wouldn't surprise me if Bergevin trades one of our better players/prospects to save his skin.

It's definitely a problem lately.

A lot of the problems happen with the 2nd pass out of the zone. The Marlies are running the same system that the Leafs do. So when the defenceman or centreman is going back to retrieve the puck, the higher defenceman runs the pick/small interference to allow the other guy to have some time to get the puck.

After they make the first pass, it's either the winger that throws it up the middle too high or they create the turnover by carrying and getting caught.

Justin Holl: 36 games 4 goals, 10 assists, 55 shots, +22

Gauthier: 39 games 3 goals, 10 assists, 34 shots, +13

Which of these guys was a scrap heap walk-on past fall? Which of these guys is a center playing with Soshnikov and Hyman and which is a depth D?

Guys Soshnikov is amazing. Seriously. Guy was in beast mode yesterday. Best player on the ice.

Also to the guy blaming the Goat, give your head a shake. He actually played a good game and I'm not one to hand him compliments but he's got a really good cycle game. Toss in bis ability to win draws and PK, he should have a fourth line roll in the show.

Most fans on here realize that our main team is garbage and this is the only thing that we can look forward too.

When the Calder Cup playoffs come around, the thing that will separate the 2 teams is going to be: 1. How well Fucale/Bibeau play. Because when both are on, the edge goes to Fucale. And 2. Which defence will fold first.

I don't think either team is too worried about offense. Marlies have 4 players in the top 20 of scoring in the entire AHL.

Same here it will come down to defense and goaltending. Our offence has bailed them out quite a few times.Holloway and Hudon have been our best forwards lately. If we get Andrighetto,Carr and Barberio back it will make a difference(especially Carr-very underrated).

People need to realize what Gauthier is.

He's a 3rd line centre. That's it.

When you ask him to create offense, you're asking for heartache.

It's like asking Rich Clune to be the first line winger on the Leafs and getting pissed when he doesn't score a goal a night. Clune is an energy guy and makes it hard for the other teams defence to retrieve the puck.

Gauthier is a 3rd line checking centre that creates open spaces for his wingers and is the first guy back in a lot of cases.

We need to keep that into perspective when we're talking about prospects.

Like, should I be pissed that Valiev only has 16 points this season? Or should I realize that he plays a steady 2 way game and doesn't get power play time and isn't expected to put up points?

Really? You're gonna blame Gauthier?

And the fact that our defence is a mess and Brennan only cares about scoring goals rather than playing defense has no involvement?

Fucale will be a good goaltender going forward and is only 20 years old. So he's prone to looking like a rookie out there. Much like Kapanen, Nylander, McCarron and others where you question what they're thinking.

Anyways, Caps will get those guys that you mentioned back and Leafs will get Morin, Leispic, Leivo, Arcobello, and Clune back.

For most of the year, either team hasn't had a full line-up.

Plus Bergevin's "trades" Lessio for Thomas(saw off) the John Scott-Victor Bartley for Stefan Elliott(The Martin Skoula of the IceCaps)and Stef Fournier.Tokharski for Friberg(He won that trade).Have messed with the chemistry at times too.Guys like McCarron hitting the wall too.

The defence have been known to turn it over several times too. Loov, Percy, Campbell, especially Brennan, and last night Holl was guilty of this too. They just aren't good in their end. They could really use someone like Granberg or even Harrington right now.

Any team is going to take a few games to get a new line-up playing together. The Marlies this week have lost:

Rupert - regular centre
Arcobello - top scoring centre (Marlies kept on winning with him while Nylander was injured)
Leipsic - top scoring winger
Leivo - another top scoring winger
Clune - solid veteran winger
Panik/Morin - Panik has not been replaced and the team has slid since his trade(Morin has done little)
Bailey - depth forward.

Nylander & Brown are providing scoring but are taking a bit longer to get their 200 ft. game back after return from their injuries.

The Leafs even had an ECHL d-man playing wing yesterday in Schwartz.

Summary: They may lose a couple games before figuring things out again.
