Strome will also be a great NHL player I think. He's got such an incredible feel for where to put the puck and set guys up. Plus he has a pretty sick wrister. I see him getting a ton of assists in the NHL, and having a couple 20-50-70 seasons.

Marner is just a playdriving monster. He'll be incredible. I know the popular comparison is Giroux, which is certainly valid. I also see a bit of Duchene in him. Either way, both guys look great.

lol at people still *****ing about hanifin.

marner on the leafs is going to be amazing. the only thing scarier is that we have another prospect rated higher and possibly can draft one in the summer rated even higher the both. cue super troopers mother of god pic.

me thinks babcocks is going to have a good time next year with all these shiny toys.

leafs could have an all rookie team or close to it and be a bubble team or better.

vessey matthews marner
brown nylander kapanen
timashov carrick johnson
shoshnikov goat leipsic

rielly zaitsev
dermott neilson
percy harrington

Two questions. A: How good is this Vesey kid? B: Do the Leafs have some kind of an inside track with him? Lot of people penciling him into our lineup.

I don't think you can guarantee anyone into the main lineup, Babcock would probably hate to have to deal with something like that.

i think according to buttons he is the 8th ranked prospect outside the nhl so he is pretty legit.

his father works for the leafs and we drafted his brother so there is a reasonable connection. obviously until he signs nothing to get excited about.

Think of it this way, if the Leafs had taken Hanifin, people would be *****ing about Marner...no way to make everyone happy.

On the draft I think my preference was Hanifin, Strome, then Marner. Still is I think.

It's close enough though. Nobody did anything stupid by drafting one of those 3.

I think Marner will be worth the wait. I've seen him absolutely take over games this year, but there have also been points where he's been non-existent out there. Granted, he's battled some injuries this year, and with maturity should come consistency, but I think he'll be one of the leafs top producers (offensively) next season, especially if he's given a place on the wing opposite JVR.

Hanifin looks like a stud, but I'm content with the idea of trading for a more established young D-man to slide in next to Rielly going forward.

Present Marlies Captain... Good defensive player..
Think of Kabs, but tougher.. (and doesn't hesitate on point shots.. )

And I didn't make this up on my own.. His nick-name was Soupy..

Maybe Marner is like our own more offensive, less defensive Sam Bennett?
Love players like Marner who can play in multiple positions, just goes to show their hockey IQ and vision.

I think Strome will be a great NHL player too but I don't think his current wrist shot is going to be effective in the NHL. It takes him waaaaaaay too long to get the shot off. I was saying the same thing even before I had made up my mind on the Marner/Strome debate (I was pro Strome for a decent amount of time before becoming pro Marner last season).

Beauty thing about Marner is he is actually very solid defensively. I don't know how solid Bennett is a defence but Marner might be our 2nd best defensive forward prospect after Gauthier. If he isn't he is in the conversation.

Sounds like Brendan Leipsic has been called up to the Leafs for tonight's game. Big news if true, I'm a big fan of Leipsic and it's nice to see one of our exciting prospects get a look this year.

I hope the Leafs have slipped Nylander some money into an offshore account, to make up for tis embarassment. All these guys getting called up and none of them hold a candle to the poor kid.

They want him to lead the Marlies charge and win the Calder. The same will likely go for the newly formed line. He may get a sniff but just for motivation.

Leivo and leipsic, dispite being wingers being called up to fill in for wingers, are older than willie. They have put in their time and are being treated properly.
Even if willie doesn't get called up, he will have every chnce to make it out of camp nxt year. I can see nothing wrong with that.

Yes leipsic up. Probably my 3rd favourite prospect after the big 2.(Don't think he is 3rd best but just love his game). Sucks leivo is out, would be nice to see a glimpse of our future (potentially) third line.
