I was accused of being a negative nancy and possibly not a "real" fan of this team, which is so laughable I don't know where to begin.

I don't look at post count. Could give two ***** about how often someone posts.

The easiest thing to do--on this board at least--is question one's fandom when they say something that isn't positive. Then when it turns out to be true, it is swept under the rug, i.e. Mike Richards. This mindset has led many a strong poster to leave this board since 2012.

Regardless, theMajor made his point that he isn't a homer and I retract my "accusation" as I'm sure he realizes where I am coming from as well; however, lobbing insults at those with a non-complimentary opinion regarding the franchise is much more prevalent than some sort of homer-due-to-post-count accusation.

You are a good poster, whatever side you take you make quality well informed posts.

And ofcourse you get criticized by people making emojicons replies to your long thought out posts, or covering their ears and yelling "In Dean I Trust" rather than arguing your points.

You both are great posters and have been both correct and wrong and no one sweeps it under the rug but if like myself come here multip,e times a day everyday for the last ten years , pointing out the obvious post after post, brown is not worth his contract, Richie is declining , mcnabb is being used wrong as he learns to play first pairing spot but at the same time complaining that we are not developing the young guys etc, gets old and repetitive and a lot of it is 20/20. Most of these "negative Nancy's as you put it say crap that makes you think the only sports they play is in their parents basement and then you get a poster like kingsfan1 that actually posted that he hopes we miss the playoffs next season so he can start a "told you so thread" If you are a knowledgeable hockey fan you seethe problems but believe it or not you can't do anything about it and harping on it makes it look like your just trying to be "the smartest guy on the post" and makes posting here less and less enjoyable , why to you think we have lost posters that had tens of thousands of post and would be here every night to discuss the team , we don't discuss moves we try to show how much smarter we are than hockey people who do this for a living, but do make mistakes but constantly second guessing them like we do esp the sekara trade and Lucic trade in hindsight but they made those moves to make us better and with the belief we could win another cup too bad it didn't workout but at least they made positive moves to win , too bad they didn't come here for advice, when you live in SoCal there are not a lot of people to talk hockey with and this site was much better than the other one , let's hope the next GM s initials are JC , he is the only one who doesn't make mistakes

Seriously,

The team is not going to be a bad team. I have no idea why people think that.

The Kings, will return pretty much the same horses (Kopitar/Doughty/Quick/Carter/.Toffoli/Muzzin), and they almost won the division.

So the Sharks outplayed them in the playoff's, it happens.

Lombardi also has to think about Toffoli's/Pearson's Extensions, they will get sizeable raises.

According to http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/los-angeles-kings, the Kings have a little over $58M committed towards 14 players.

They'll have 8 RFAs to sign in Toffoli, Pearson, Andreoff, Shore, Mersch, Latta, Gravel and Trotman.

So they have roughly $15M to re-sign those players, based on a $73M cap ceiling.

Given that the expansion draft is upon us next summer and the possibility of the cap going up, it could give the Kings a couple more millions of dollars in cap space.

I think they have the cap space to get them locked up and I hope that Dean is proactive in wasting no time in getting those contracts done.

Take a page out of Steve Yzerman's book and get on that ****!

this is a pretty good tl;dr of what Ive been trying to say in this thread. as long as we have Kopitar/Doughty/Quick/Carter and the other, newer core members we will be better off than most

What about Lucic 20 goals and 55 points , or him screening the goalie. I think all of you are in for a shock. We are a bubble team at best but if Dean keeps blocking way for the rookies then we will just be slower and less hungrier like Doughty said. Because they have already won

I read over n over that this player n that player are not ready. Well was Rust and Sheary ready ? Or the other 100 rookies making differences for their team. You all amaze me sometimes.

I don't think LA is bad, but being unable to fill Lucic's spot hurts.

The main thing is, the bottom feeders are getting better.

Sharks and Anaheim will likely maintain if healthy.

Oilers, Coyotes, and Calgary have a good chance of being better than last season.

Not sure what Eriksson will do for the Sedins and Vancouver.

LA is in the mix, but I think it is going to be a tighter division this year.

Some teams don't even have a Defender of Muzzin's caliber.

Kings should be fighting for a playoff spot and you probably can bet Doughty/Kopitar won't play that poorly again in the first round.

I am all for NOT playing rookies if we are contenders, but we are not. Kingsfan1 is right. All of these acquisitions were pointless. We could have given playing time to our youth to gauge their value and let them develop.

Someone will have to step up. What if Pearson continues to produce better.

Pearson is capable of a 15-20G 40P season.

The AHL is a development league, not the NHL.

I have to say I am a little confused why we kept Greene yet loaded up on dumpster defenseman. Is Greene going to play a top 4 role?

Teddy Purcell couldn't stick with this lineup when Terry Murray was coaching them.

I really don't know what Sutter is going to do with him. Pretty much treat him just like he did with Versteeg.

Pearson can Defiantly have a 15-20G 40P season.

I think they all need to produce more obviously.

Brown regaining his old form would be a much needed miracle for this team.

Gaborik staying healthy too.
