Kings aren't getting rid of Dustin Brown unless we buy him out. Please. Stop. Posting. That.

And no new Houdini GM is coming in and getting rid of it either.

Dude is here to stay. Lol. It ****ing sucks. But lol. Every ****ing week it's some post about getting rid of that albatross contract. New GM will do it. Vegas will take it. He'll retire. Nope. He ain't going anywhere. Dude said "show me the money" and he got it.

:)

Kings have to rid themselves of Dustin Brown somehow.

But I agree and been preaching all training camp to let Mersch, Dowd, and Kempe have a shot and find a way to rid of Shore, Brown and King.

In over 100 NHL games Nick Shore has 4 goals. I haven't noticed him in years. Why is he playing?

Wow, that's brutal. I mean, he plays with mostly **** line mates, but still. Last season, Andreoff and Lewis had 8, King had 7 in half a season, Versteeg had 4 in 14 games, and Shore and Clifford both had 3 goals (although Shore played 12 more games than Clifford). Jordan Nolan had 0 goals in 52 games.

Brown's buyout would be brutal.

Will Las Vegas really take Brown?

Brown could be the best unprotected right wing available. So many unknowns for this expansion draft, Vegas will have plenty of time to have their picks ready and build out their roster. Another hypothetical question is would Mr.Family Man report to Vegas if he was selected? I can see some aging vets with families balking at the idea of living in Vegas.

I can't think of why... They're trying to be inmeadtitly competitive, we're in their division. Why give us the life line?

He'll have to have a bounce back year. Which will of course tempt Lombardi to protect him.

There is no way Brown is protected. Vegas? Maybe. Traded before the dead line? Maybe but unlikely. Retiring? Not sure he would want to uproot his family and he has to know his skills have declined almost as fast as Mike Richards. Protected by the Kings? I'd delete my account if that happened.

You can't do that. If Brown get protected we're going to need all the moral support we can get here.

I do disagree that Brown gets taken. Really they could take Lewis or Forbort and then trade a 7th for Brown if they want him. Maybe get a 2nd or 3rd added by the Kings too.

To which he should be immediately fired. This would be such a Lombardi thing to do.

How was the attitude when I was told to delete my account?

If there's a post I didn't see feel free to report it because of course that's not acceptable, but I've cleaned up some self-modding already.

I have a grown-up job just like many of the rest of you so I can't babysit grown men and women throwing food on the internet all day. Rest assured that things will get nuked accordingly. We're all on the same side here but things have escalated to unnecessarily personal lately.

Lombardi, Mr. Emotional Loyalty, has already stripped Brown of the C. The captain of his 2 time Cup winning team. He won't protect him in the expansion draft, even if he somehow got 50 goals and 93 points this year.

There is no good answer to the Brown question. The Kings are stuck with that cap hit, along with a few other ones, and the best, and possibly only, thing to do at this point, is ride the contract out, whatever the consequences. Maybe if you traded every pick in the next 5 drafts, and retained 50% on Brown, someone would take him. Buying him out hurts more long term than short term, and the short term is very short. There's also no logical reason for Vegas to take him. You get a clean slate to start with, and right away you're going to take the worst contract in the league?

Doesn't matter what the line combinations are now. This season has all the makings of a disaster. Team full of grinders and no depth loses two major pieces to extended injury. If you wanted to write a script for a disaster movie of a hockey team, this is it. Good chance this team doesn't even make the playoffs.

All I'm looking forward to at this point:
1. Pearson-Kopitar-Toffoli line tear some s*** up for a couple of weeks.
2. I'm curious if either Brown and Gaborik can put up 35 points this season. Maybe next to Jeff Carter they do.
3. Dowd. Maybe a cup of coffee for Kempe, Amadio, or Ladue. I always like seeing the first few games of a prospect.
4. Trade deadline.

If I was their GM, I'd want to build my team around somebody like Brown. So the answer is "maybe".

i'd take lewis or mcnabb 110/100 times to wing clip a division rival and then hit the kings up for seconds. something like brown + a prospect + pick.

I cannot see a situation where they would choose brown in the draft.

Way Lombardi value's defence and center i believe we will go 4+4+1 and lose Lewis.

I see what you mean about them taking a player like Brown for his leadership and experience and a fresh start, but keep in mind other teams around the league may be doing the same, and his contract could be a big hamstring because of its term.

Yep. I could see them talking to the Kings about Brown, but in such a way like it was when we traded whatever it was for protection in the previous expansion draft. They're allowed to do that, and the cap and cap space is an interesting bargaining chip this time around. Lots of intrigue surrounding the expansion draft.

Which is why I could see the Kings trading Mersch + to Vegas to make sure that they take one of Brown or Gaborik. I'm probably guessing the cost on the low-end but a man can dream.

It's the first expansion draft under a cap, so we don't know exactly what an expansion team will want in that circumstance. Without a cap, they might not have a problem taking the player Brown has become, simply because he's been the captain of a Cup winner. At the same time, without a cap, Brown isn't the problem he is for the Kings.

With the cap? I'd be very surprised if even an expansion team wanted that contract. Or if there was anything realistic that could make them want it. Is Kempe a good enough prospect to entice Vegas to take the league's worst contract at 100%? Are the Kings retaining money? So more dead cap space? 50% of Brown's contract might only be enough to go toward Doughty's new deal anyway. What can you really get for a little under $3m? How about Kempe and this year's 1st, especially if it's a train wreck season's 1st round pick, so somewhere in the top 5?

I'd say figure on Brown's contract being on the Kings cap until at least the summer of 2021.

Will Las Vegas really take Brown?

I think there's a chance albeit a really small chance. But if he can prove he is somewhat capable of producing, then I can see the appeal in taking a former captain of a 2 time Stanley Cup winning team. But even then, I think it's highly unlikely that happens. If Quebec or Seattle was awarded an NHL team then I think the chances of him getting selected would certainly increase.
