Ok

Sutter is out to lunch if he thinks he's getting away with the Muzzin/Doughty pair. Kings do not have the depth. Personally I'm all for it because it'll help the Kings draft position by leaving the rest of the D too weak.

Love this Gravel/Forbort are better then McNabb. Gravel probably starts in the AHL and Forbort might be the 7th D as he'll be waiver fodder otherwise. Neither one has earned a spot on the Kings. Last year they had to beat out Ehrhoff & Scuderi. Lets see how the 2 do in games against NHL'ers and not preseason scrimmages.

Scuderi can be sent to the ECHL so he doesn't take a place in Ontario and is closer to his east coast family. Maybe that's a stretch.

The lineup doesn't look too bad with Pearson out of it, maybe the Kings could look to trade him. :naughty:

Trading Muzzin or Martinez: The D next year is going to have issues. If it has issues anyways you might as well make a swap or 2 and position it so the Kings can fill the holes they need to in the future with the guys they have coming up.

Am i the only one thinking the 2nd pairing might be Martinez/Gilbert?

Nope. Been thinking that myself. Martinez is a natural lefty and Gilbert is righty plus a veteran. Sutter already hinted that he would like a Muzzin-Doughty pairing. I envision opening night to be like this:

Muzzin-Doughty
Martinez-Gilbert
McNabb-Greene

Fobert as 7th D.

That said, I don't expect these pairing to remain the same 30 games in. If Greene gets injured or Gilbert looks bad, I think Sutter wont hesitate to call up Gravel (and maybe LaDue with how well he performed in preseason).

I havent seen any of camp or the preseason games but it seems like it will come down to keeping one of Mersch/Seto/Latta/Nolan on the roster. if they put Shore on IR then two of them will stay untill he comes off.

Not sure how the lines work out but this is pretty much how I see the opening night roster:

brown kopitar purcell
mersch/Seto carter toff
king dowd lewis
clifford AA Latta/nolan
pearson (susp) Gab (LTIR) Shore (IR)

Latta has not been impressive this preseason. Mersch is still waiver exempt?

Brown-Kopitar-Setoguchi
Purcell-Carter-Toffoli
Clifford-Dowd-King
Lewis-AA-Nolan

Thats the lineup I was leaning towards as well, Mersch is a victim of not having to pass through waivers (I assume this will happen to Gravel also) then they either have to figure out if one of AA/Nolan or which of the 8 D gets dropped once Shore comes off IR

With Pearson out for the first two games, I expect Sutter to put King in his place, as he always does. The likely lineup will be:

Brown-Kopitar-Purcell
King-Carter-Toffoli
Seto-Lewis-AA
Clifford-Dowd-Mersch or Nolan

The lines so far have been....

Brown-Kempe-Setoguchi
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Clifford-Dowd-Purcell
King-Lewis-Andreoff

Extras: Nolan, Latta, Mersch

Per my earlier post, if you sub in Kopitar for Kempe, send Mersch down to Ontario, then the roster is set.

With Pearson out it will probably shake out like this...

Brown-Kopitar-Setoguchi
King-Carter-Toffoli
Clifford-Dowd-Purcell
Andreoff-Lewis-Latta/Nolan

Hey guys. I'm curious how seto has looked. Got a soft spot for him lol

His shot still appears to be deadly, but I haven't seen enough of him with the puck to make a judgement on his individual skills besides his shooting, especially given how sloppy the game against the Ducks was.

Hoping we get to see him with Kopitar at one of the Frozen Fury games.

Looking at our forward lineup is depressing. This is going to be a very low scoring year.

Looking at what people on here propose for D pairings is depressing. Gilbert/Martinez? Two smallish, non-physical puck movers together just screams Kings hockey.

And at the same time plenty of people want the Kings to go to a more non-Kings type of hockey because that's the way the league is going. In theory, if Martinez/Gilbert can move the puck, that would be a way to go.

Laata had some crushing hits in the Anaheim game (only game i watched him play in). Loved the hit on Manson. Unfortunately did not see much offense, but its not like Nolan has set the world on fire offensively. To me Laata and Nolan are a wash. Nolan is suppose to protect our guys, but has gotten a little soft after his fight with Lucic 3 years ago (he seemed to be holding his finger after the fight). And Laata has done well against bigger guys the last two years vs the likes Boll, Stoner, & Bortuzzo among other wins against guys his size (like Downey, White & Mayfield). And Nolan fight wins have the last two years have been Prust and Skille.

If Sutter makes it through 1 game with that top 4 I'll be shocked. If he sticks with it for 2-3 games I'll think mind control, aliens, or possession are to blame.

Muzzin/Doughty
Martinez/Greene
McNabb/Gilbert
