2016-2017 Kings Roster Talk Part IV

i feel like they tend to do things a little more whacky with adidas branding than they do with reebok though. reebok tends to be a little more conservative imo.

i just can't forget some of the abortions adidas put into the ncaa basketball tournament a few years back and some of their current ncaa football unis, i'd hate to see them try and stretch that "style" into the NHL. i don't wanna see the pajamas we see in the NBA either.

This website claims to have found the jersey design for next year's Battle of California, whatever that is.

Wouldn't shock me. All Luc Robitaille knows is black and white. I think the guy is color blind.
 
If the reports are correct that McPhee will build the team with a veteran defense/goaltender and a young forward corps then the likely targets are Mersch, Dowd, or Shore since I'm sure there will be better options than McNabb....

Ya, I think some teams will take necessary changes. Ottawa, Colorado and Calgary's jersey all could use face lifts. Sounds like the Devils are changing their jersey's for their jersey's for the first time in forever. I don't expect much for LA though in my dream world this homeplate logo would go.
 
how much is too much for TT?

If he wants more than $6M/yr does trading him become an option? Not sure what my cut off price tag would be for him, but I am hoping he signs for about $5M.

A demand of a cap hit more than $5M should make Toffoli trade bait.

He has scored 30 goals only once in his career.

Toffoli's current cap hit is $3.25M. Blake should probably offer $4.25M and see where talks go from there.

Rakell's contract is ridiculous; however, if he is at $3.8MM cap hit for the next six years, it is hard to justify Toffoli above $5MM unless there are a lot of UFA years locked up.

Yeah, the Ducks got Rakell on a great deal. Going to be interesting to see what they give up in the expansion draft. They have to go 7-3-1 to protect Rakell. At least that's what it looks like now.

how close do you think Duchene and Toffoli are? I like Duchene a fair bit due to the fact he can play center and the wing (one of top faceoff % I think), and is faster.

Was thinking if Toffoli's cap demands are too rich for LA but maybe not for Colorado. Toffoli + Martinez for Duchene + 2019 conditional 2nd (If Duchene does not re-sign).

I also wonder how close Toffoli + Martinez/Muzzin would be for MacKinnon. I know these are xbox moves fantasy type moves.

Except that neither AMart or Muzzin are what the Avs want, they are too old.
Carolina and the Isles right now are lead dogs but other teams have players that would fit the Avs shopping list.

Think Lightening might be more of a fit for our middle aged d-men? Looks we have a couple 4M guys and they have a lot of forwards.

Hard to gauge who we are good trading partners with at this point.

Tampa Bay is trying to shed salary. They're rumored to want extremely cheap, young d-men. Thinking something like Gravel+ for one of their forwards.

Possibly but they have zero cap space. But they do want a d, and will be moving forward(s).
IN addition to all the deals they need to ink this year, Kucherov (4.7M) will get a mint in 2 yrs when his deal is up.

One of AMart or Muzzin will be traded, and there are teams that need defense. Esp if SHatty, Alzner and Russell are too costly. The Leafs are shopping forwards (JVR for one) for a d, Detroit is looking for one too, Sabres (who dont have the cash, might need a bargain d).
But the Wild, Ducks and preds all have excess D to move or lose potentially in the draft. So it's a buyer's market, which might make it a bit harder.
 
Hopefully Adidas knows hockey fans HATE soccer. Sadly, we live in an era where a college degree in marketing can get you a job in a sports field without knowing a thing about the sport. I fully expect the jerseys to be hideous and completely bomb, it seems like hockey always finds a way to get things wrong. Like making the expansion draft private.

Then a new boss might actually put some jump into them and actually make them happy to come to work rather than just something they have to do. We've all had some boss we've hated enough that it just made you try a little less everyday at work. I mean when I read Browns comments about how he just shows up, plays and then leaves. It's no wonder half the team was playing like they didn't care.
