The Nets have so many more losses than the 2nd bottom team in the league it's a joke  And they aren't getting better any time soon.

Lakers are only up 3 in losses and just lost by 49 to the terrible Mavs. They may be inclined to tank as their pick is top 3 protected. Still can't see them catching the Nets.

Good thing they had such a hot start to the season, otherwise it could be close...it still might be, though. They are blatantly tanking and I hope it backfires for them. The good thing is a top 3 pick this year would take them out of the Ayton-discussion, but I would rather them losing the pick this year AND be an average team next year.

The Nets will be hard pressed to get out of last place (they got beat up yesterday at home by a Spurs-team without Kawhi, Parker, manu and Gasol). Lin will be out for another 5 weeks and I honestly don't even believe he will be back then. And at this point the Nets will likely have sold off some vets, hopefully Lopez.
Looks like it's over, but you never know.

I want a top 3 pick since I believe Fultz, Ball and DSJ are in tier 1. I think Jackson, Tatum, Monk and Isaac are a notch below that level.

Red Auerbach is spinning in his grave :(

General Electric’s logo will be featured on the Boston Celtics’ player jerseys for the upcoming season as part of a multi-year partnership.

it's already happening, most, if not all teams, will now have sponsorship deals going forward, as part of the new CBA....

D-League teams have had those for a while now, Fenway

An absurdly fun night of basketball so far.

Game of the season for the Celtics as they get a big win against the Rockets and the Refs.

Kings pull it out in OT against the Cavs.

Heat with an 18 point comeback against the Nets in Brooklyn.

Warriors in a close game. Sixers doing well again. Raptors losing. So much fun.

Took the words out of my mouth...

Character win against Houston despite the clown refs. Heat win a HUGE HUGE HUGE game against BKN despite being down 18 after 3. That probably seals the deal. They still have 2 more games against Miami, but how exactly are they going to win games?

Seriously, I am already pumped up about having a top 4 pick in this loaded draft. Of course I'd be pissed if we didn't get the #1 or #2, but getting DSJ or even Jackson would be awesome.

Oh and I am glad the Sixers are finally winning some games...had to happen after a gazillion years of tanking. They absolutely lucked out with Embiid. He wouldn't have been there at #3 if it wasn't for his injury. Thank god they didn't get Porzingis, though. Let's see what they do this year, but getting 2 picks in the #5-#8 range would finally get them some top guard-talent on that roster.
Interesting thought: Would you guys trade the #1 (or maybe #2) for their own and Lakers pick if both are in the #5-#8 range? I probably wouldn't...but it's even questionable if Phillys own pick will be that high. They keep on winning, even without Embiid. Would be funny if they sneaked in the playoffs like we did 2 years ago.

In other news: Zizic is doing exceptionally well in one of the better leagues. 16pts, 18 rbs, 1 as. 6/11 for 2, 4/5ft his stat line. Help is coming...

Sixes are going go be good fast now that they have the big guy in middle Embiid

I like the depth of the lottery, but, no, I wouldn't do that. Gotta get the best chance at the best player.

And, yes. Zizic is doing really well, playing for David Blatt. That trade (or transfer?) was so good for him. Rebounding machine. We knew that. Always good from the line. Starting to shoot jumpers now too.

One of them two top picks is target .Celtics sure could use a rebounder.I watched that Raptor Centre get like 22 vs them. That is crazy. I well hopefully Ainge finds help.

I agree, we finally need our transcendent prospect. But if it was #4 and #8 for example and assuming the top 3 guards are taken #1-#3, then we could take Jackson (seems like a player Ainge loves, a better version of Winslow) and the later lotto pick would give us another shot at top talent.

Not sure the Sixers would do that, but they need that top guard prospect. A young core of Fultz/Ball, Simmons, Embiid is enviable...even being in our situation.

The Zizic' transfer has worked out pretty well for us. He not only gained value (he would arguably go late lotto in this years loaded draft according to some experts), but his numbers actually compare to the ones of Valanciunas, Jokic and Nurkic. I love the guy and was happy we got one of the Croatians in last years draft. He has that mean streak on him, reminds me bit of Steven Adams.

According to CBS Sports the Celtics are interested in Center Nikola Vucevic from Orlando.

from cbssports.com:

The Celtics might never actually do "The Deal." The big trade that vaults them onto the level of the Cavaliers. Boston's assets are too valuable and the available superstars too few and too complicated.

However, they have enough young players and picks (and not just the ones from the Nets) to be able to make an auxiliary move to bolster its roster.

It's bargain hunting time!

CSN New England reports the Celtics have discussed a deal with the Orlando Magic about center Nikola Vucevic.

CSNNE.com has learned that the Celtics have talked with the Orlando Magic about a potential deal involving the 26-year-old center.

While no deal is imminent, the addition of Vucevic would be a significant boost to the Celtics roster on multiple fronts.Rebounding, defense and scoring are the Big Three areas the Celtics are looking to upgrade between now and the Feb. 23 trade deadline.

The addition of Vucevic would address at least two of those areas for the Celtics - scoring and rebounding.

Hell baby
They'll be trying to beat teams 130-125 if they get Vucevic. Good offensive player though.

He would help clean up the glass a bit tho so maybe there would be less 2nd chances

Boy all those trade talks are tough. Melo, Vucevic, Noel...everyone's got pros and cons and yet you never know when and if to pull the trigger.

I guess the Magic are eager to make moves, their GM is on the hot seat. Probably either Vucevic or Ibaka, maybe both. His defense is very suspect, yet it's said to be improving. His rebounding is strong and would obviously help, but at what cost? If we deal them Bradley, we would lose some of the rebounding.
Would that Bradley-Vucevic swap still leave us with an open max slot? It would definitely require to let Olynyk go.

Melo? He's still a player and rumor has it that he would be willing to waive his NTC to come to Boston. If we get Anthony, the max slot is obviously gone. Benefit is we would have our top guy right away instead of hoping to get one during the summer. And he's under contract for only 2-3 years instead of the 5-6 we would have to give a Hayward-type.
I probably could get talked into Carmelo if the return is minimal. A deal with the Clips hasn't happend yet, because the Knicks refuse to take on any long term salary (Crawford).
We could give them enough expirings and future picks/assets.

BOS: Melo, OQuinn
NYK: Amir, Zeller, Rozier, Mickey, Boston 2018 1st, Clips 2019 1st (heavily protected anyway)

What is the ceiling of this roster:

IT/Smart/Jackson
Bradley/Smart
Crowder/Brown
Melo/OQuinn/Jerebko
Horford/Olynyk

It would come a long way to have another scorer who can create his own shot (anyone besides IT and to a degree Horford) and that is probably important in the playoffs, but Melo does give you nothing on defense and on the glasses. At least not enough. Interior defense should be the priority.

No matter what, the BKN picks are off limits (well, obviously except for some pipe dreams ala Davis). It's almost guaranteed to be a top #4 pick and 2018 is not looking worse. If something happens, it's from the current roster in a value-value deal. At some point they need to make a decision, they cannot tie up so much money in IT (who is very likely to get extended), Bradley and Smart. My gut says Bradley gets dealt very soon.

C's said no to Melo, where the rumor got started we need to be the 3rd team in that makes zero sense if we already said no to Melo straight up, he wouldn't be coming here....

AB likely isn't going anywhere especially until we know what degree the Achilles stress factor is.

Still need a rebounder.Pistons Centre Drummond had 22 rebounds by himself.Saw Raptors big guy do exact same thing vs Celts. It will kill them in playoffs.Ainge needs to fix this.
