King has gone 16 games without a point and 21 without a goal. Totally somebody who has worked his way onto the top line.

Well King despite being goaless had a few really good offensive chances in the last game. Not many kings have had that. Also hes being above average on the pk of late ( HINT HINT Mr Raccoon I want to see the stats you say you have to back this )

His shooting percentage is down 6.5% from last season yet his ice time has gone up to 15:07 from 14:26 last season. The more he plays the less he produces just like Lewis.

Kopitar/Gabo/Toffoli have 14 ES goals Combined 40+ games into the season. Tanner Pearson has 13 ES goals, by himself.

That's where the Kings offense is dying.

So until Kopitar/Gabo/Toffoli get on track, and healthy (toffoli), the Kings are going to lose some games.

Need Quick back as well.

Your preaching to the choir I've been singing the same song for about 3 years now maybe more. Just saying that right now no one else is playing well At least he showed up last game or so. If it was up to me King would get 11-13 mins max

I agree with damacles that this would've been a good time to call up Brodzinski and get him some experience with Toffoli out, he would probably the third most skilled winger on the team behind Pearson and Gaborik.

i am in favour of someone from the ahl coming up Id prefer Kempe as hes starting to warm up down there over Brodzinski however i would be just as happy to see Brodzinski up

Somehow he has still managed to remain a +1 this year, he must either be cuddling up to carter or getting his ass off the ice in a hurry when the **** hits the fan :)

That makes no sense if it was up to each player how much ice time or where he played Drew would never leave the ice. I suggest when you read my post deal with what the posts say and not assume crap. This is where we always go off in tangents because of each others assumptions. Also its not deans fault where King plays he does not send them on the ice I blame Sutter 100% for putting King in the top 6. I blame Dean for not giving him other options for said top 6 Ie bringing someone up from the ahl better suited then king for the top 6

LOL, someone is a wee bit oversensitive. Learn to phrase words better.

It's both Sutter and Lombardi's fault. Dean likes overripe prospects, and Sutter seems happy to oblige. They're both like minds.

Kempe ought to be called up for a bit, it couldn't hurt at this point.

Calling up Kempe right now would be a terrible idea IMO. He's struggled and is just now finally starting to get into a little bit of a stride. He obviously needs more time.

You conveniently left out the part where I said or Brodzinski, who would most likely get called up before Kempe anyways.

I left out Brozinski because I'm not talking about him. You said Brozinski or Kempe ought to be called up. I'm telling you Kempe shouldn't.

I think the fact that Dean is patient with prospects is one of his better attributes.

I think prospects can stall in their development if they're not challenged. Not every prospects development and trajectory is alike, but this staff apparently doesn't see it that way.

I do believe the rookies in the lineup this season are already in their mid-20s. Average age in the NHL is 27.8 years, the average age on the Kings is 29.1. At some point they have to start getting younger.

And he is still 4th on the team in 5v5 goals, behind Carter, Pearson, and Lewis. Why shouldn't King be on a top line?

And it's Dowd, Forbort, and Gravel, three guys that went to college. And, there are 3 rookies on the team this year. Playing in some important positions and for some decent minutes.

With another 3 or 4 UFA's this year, the bad contracts going nowhere, and Toffoli and Pearson needing bigger deal, there will probably be a couple more young guys on the team next year too.

Who have they taken too long with?

The last time he scored a goal was December 1st at AZ?

And he's still 4th on the team in 5v5 goals. Few others are getting the job done when the Kings are skating at full strength. Of the players currently available, who should be there instead? People complain about Lewis. Clifford and Nolan are right out. Dowd and Shore are centers. Andreoff doesn't have a point all season. Setoguchi has 1 goal since November 17th.

There are many things you can be critical of at this point. I dont like to be negative because these guys are pro as they come and Im a big fan. With that said this is a message board and it is what happens when you sit through some of these boring games. Id like to leave guys like King and Lewis out of this because they are for the most part doing what they are supposed to. Of course they could chip in more points but it is far from the main issue.

My view is that Doughty is playing his worst hockey and not many really want to mention it. Not sure if all the success went to his head or what but he has lost track of what has made him effective. With the huge windups for the worlds fastest slapshot and extra spinoramas like hes a figure skater. Hes not the best shooter or skater or stickhandler, hes the best hockey player and he needs to get back to that simple game and intensity that made him the best player on the ice. Hes even been leaving guys open in front of his net and also cleanly getting burned a lot and its time to cut his ice time until he can handle the minutes. Im not even sure his game has been all that great since hes gotten the Ryan Suter ice time treatment anyway. Its a bit silly. The defense looks better than it has in the last couple years and the other guys can handle all situations. Besides Green there is no one that needs sheltering. Muzzin and Martinez can be better but I dont think they are a consistent problem by any means.

Kopitar has maybe played too much hockey the past couple years and is playing like an overworked mule. With that said Kopitar at his worst is still a positive force and is in no way hurting the team. But we all know what hes capable of. Maybe he is still hurt...

My thinking is Toffoli has not regressed like some have mentioned. He had a really hot start and though I cant remember the particular game, he got his bell rung. His production declined after that and just a couple weeks after that game he took another hit and was out if the lineup for good. When hes healthy I imagine hell be scoring again.

Gaborik is getting his pace back and should be good for some goals on the road trip.

Budaj has been great most nights. If Quick was healthy they would have a good 4-7 more wins than they do now but we can leave this subject alone as it is what it is.

Carter, Pearson, Nolan, Brown, Dowd, Forbort, and Gravel are playing great hockey. I do not base this on points or stats, just by watching. Whether they score or not they are at least playing hard and creating time and space for their teammates and are bringing energy on a daily basis.

Everyone else not mentioned are playing their part as expected. But no more or no less.

I like Ladues game a lot and expect him on the team next year. Maybe that makes a roster d-man tradable but no one from the cup teams have been moved so its hard to read the situation. I also wonder that Kempe and Mersch either get called up this year or they are moved.

Anyways these are some of my thoughts at the halfway mark but in reality I dont know a thing about nothing. Just shootin the breeze. Peace people!

King/Lewis/Brown.... 3rd line. Do it!

I'm tired of watching Gaborik get to opens spots on the ice just to watch guys like Lewis, King, Brown, not see him or pass him the puck. Dowd has the ability to make a pass and is pretty good at it. If a top 6 forward can't be found drop Lewis to the 3rd line and put Dowd with Gaborik.

Edit: NVM don't want to lose Dowd in the expansion, keep him with Brown and Seto to suppress his stats.

Well, they did lose two guys they'll be facing tomorrow to waivers with Hickey and Berube because they let they play in the minors long enough that they became waiver eligible. Two assets lost for nothing.

Muzzin was chosen over Hickey. The Kings brass had to choose Muzzin or Hickey, they picked Muzzin. That was the correct pick.

People keep forgetting to mention that.

Remember Davis Drewiske? For some reason the Kings picked him over making room for Hickey. They would later trade Drewiske to Montreal that season.

But they made up for it by getting Keaton Ellerby. That was a great move, lose Hickey, gain Ellerby.

Like I said, they lost an asset, taken fourth overall, for nothing. Wouldn't you consider that poor asset management?
