Why is Kopitar not producing? And is he still his usual self in his own end?
wrist injury and not as good as usual but still better than most.

orrrrr maybe he's a chronic ghost act with character and health issues who people would have complained about the moment we were linked to him.
The guy has worn down his welcome in every city and his own national team and people want him to play under Sutter?

How have Purcell and Gilbert fared? People harp on Vanek being soft yet Dean signed 2 of THE softest players in the league with no pedigree. If Dean was so opposed to that type of player those 2 deals just destroy that argument completely.
What do you mean by wrist injury? That he had one and hasnt been the same since or is playing with one?
Im hoping DL uses Teddy, Gilbert, and King as trading chips. They could end up netting a few 3rd/4th/5th round picks at the deadline that could be added to any deals as a sweetener, or used in an earlier deal and get flipped to a contender and the TDL
Other than trading Teddy, it doesn't make sense for Lombardi to do that if the Kings are in a playoff race. We are short on left wing, and need King to fill that void. Also, with our rate of injuries this year, Gilbert is an insurance against that and has played pretty decent.
There have been zero big trades in the league this season, so I figure our two teams are as likely to change that as anyone. What are LA looking for (apart from Landeskog)? What decent players might they be OK giving up because of the expansion draft?
In fairness to Kempe, Pearson was 20 years old when draftedThinking about our pipeline, I looked back at our 2013 draft class. Lombardi had 10 picks that year. This is how it turned out:
2nd, 3rd, 4th-round picks - Zykov, gone to Carolina with our 2016 first (Gauthier) for Versteeg
4th round - Justin Auger, prospect
4th round - Hudson Fasching, part of trade for McNabb, Parker and 2 2nds, who ended up being Alex Lintuniemi and Erik Cernak, prospects
5th round - Patrik Bartosak, gone due to his own actions
5th round - Jonny Brodzinski, prospect
6th round - Zac Leslie, prospect
7th round - Dominik Kubalik, unlikely to ever come over
7th round - traded for what ended up being Chaz Reddekopp, prospect
So out of 10 picks, we have Auger, Lintuniemi, Cernak, Brodzinski, Leslie, and Reddekopp still in our pipeline. Of those, Cernak and Brodzinski have the best chance of reaching the NHL, with Auger a possibility. Of course, the others could surprise us. At first, I thought it was a poor year because of the Zykov trade, Bartosak self-combustion, and Fasching loss, but the Carter trade (our 1st to Columbus) and Cernak return helped offset those.
Prospects who, at this point, appear to have a reasonably good chance of making the NHL:
2013 - Brodzinski
2014 - Kempe, Amadio
2015 - Cernak
2016 - Clague
(A couple of others, it's too early to tell.) Solid players, but no forward gamebreakers. Our only 1st is Kempe, who in his 2nd year with our AHL team, currently has .39 PPG. For comparison, our 2012 1st, Tanner Pearson, had .78 PPG in his 2nd year with our AHL team.
We're talking about Dean Lombardi, who has yet to trade anyone that played any sort of role on either team that won the Cup for the Kings. In terms of decent players he might trade, there's no way of knowing because he hasn't traded anyone like that yet. Other than backup goalies that had little value to the Kings when they were traded. He's traded prospects and picks recently, which hasn't worked out.
With the expansion draft, if the Kings do nothing, they'll probably lose one of Dowd, Forbort, or McNabb. Maybe Lewis?
They could use a right handed defenseman that can play every day, they could use a scoring winger. Basically no different than every team. The problem for the Kings is they have 2 wingers making way too much money for what they're doing right now, and two more wingers that need bigger deals.

Toffoli may not need a much bigger deal if he continues his not so great production, and missing games.
max $4m?
or would we be looking in the $4m-$5m range?
Have to think Toffoli will get at least $5m, and that's even if he doesn't score another goal this season. He took his lower deal to help Lombardi get Lucic for a year. He's not doing that again. He's going to be 25 by season's end. That's a couple years away from being a UFA.
Might be easier to see it going the Doughty route than something as simple as handing over Fort Knox to Kopitar.

Do you think Seto gets sent to Ontario when TT returns or is there an open roster spot?Got to like Seto's hustle, but he needs to find himself on the scoresheet way more often.
I'm actually super bummed about Bartosak's situation. guy had a pound of talent but really blew it.
Well, he is absolutely fantastic for my team in czech league. He wants to play in the NHL though and said all his issues in US are resolved. He can return any time he wants. Too bad Kings are done with him.
