Was a little too reckless for my liking. Too many penalties. That first one when he ran into the goalie showed poor on ice awareness.

some takeaways:
1. Defense lacked confidence
2. Marner played every position except goalie.
3. Sanheim couldnt seem to rebound after getting walked around late in the first.
4. Fabbri was creative in the offensive zone
5. Crowse was imposing, but definitely lacks creative instincts
6. Strome seems to rely solely on being in the right place. He gets closed in on very quickly in the offensive zone
7. Merkley likes to stir the pot
Team USA will be the team to beat this year round.

Strome will be a good pro. Not sure he'll be a great contributor at the WJCs though.

You mean the same team USA that part of their team just got clobbered 10-3 verses Finland? Yeah, I won't be holding my breath when we meet them next year.

We don't have any defenceman at the calibre of Werenski or Hanifin. That will hurt.

I thought he looked tentative, thinking too much with the puck on his stick and playing too passively on defence. I'm confident that Roy will show better than that tomorrow.
These games mean very little with regard to what to expect in 2016. They are just tryouts essentially.

Sure, but I still don't consider the US the team to beat. They are slightly overrated imo.
I thought dermott was really impressive. Sanheim started out unreal but then after that beat 1 on 1 he really fell off.
Anyone know where to find lineup information? I'm thinking about going to the Wednesday Canada/Russia game but I'm curious to see who is going to play before I make the trip out to Calgary and get tickets.
Seriously? Where have you been the last couple months. Strome is bashed on in every thread he is brought up in. Just look at the posts prior to yours for evidence. He is generally spoken of as if he were a second tier prospect.
He is anything but overrated. In the eyes of HF, Strome is already a bust.
Hes bashed because of his third overall , OHL scoring leading champ status. Hes not a second tier prospect lets be real. No one thinks hes that bad, just people dont see him as that third overall/ leading scorer guy. They want Strome to be dynamic/ a difference maker, when hes not really that type of player.

That's fine, the 2014 draft wasn't huge for USA (still quite good though). I think their team in 2017 will be terrifying.

Sanheim got walked twice.
I don't see the need to have D-men like that who are strictly for offense.
The forward line is pretty much an All-Star team, I'd rather have more steady guys on the back end which Sanheim isn't.
He got beat pretty handedly on the defensive end in the playoffs for the hitmen last year when I was watching.

Depends on what one thinks of Marner/Strome. Depth is amazing, top six is below what we're used to even if Marner/Strome exceed expectations.
The defense is decent, but significantly weaker than usual. No one looked consistently good but it's one game. Defense relies on someone stepping up, or Roy/Fleury/Hicketts/Sanheim being good enough.
But goalies look good so far.
