Out of the American players who weren't invite to this camp, who do you guys think has a shot at surprising the brass, getting invited to the winter camp and. Possibly even making the team?

Tommy Novak

Roslovic - Matthews - Tkachuk
Milano - Larkin - Tuch
Connor - White - Bracco
Bittner - Dvorak - Boeser
Schmaltz

Hanifin - Krys
Werenski - Belpedio
Carlo -McAvoy
Collins

Just wow on the forwards. So much depth. Can't see Dvorak not making it and Schmaltz is loved by USA Hockey and is a special team wizard. Both will be there.

Offensively this could be the best group assembled...so much skill and talent on all lines, I don't care for grinders just bring our skill this time. Larkin, White, Roslovic, Dvorak all can bring it both ways all skilled two way players.

Defensively isn't great but shouldn't be an issue..we have a fee horses to ride and carry the load. I hate Collins but as it stands USA Hockey loved his size so he is here until someone else steps up.
USA will definitely be a good team but I've seen a lot of projections with your 1st line, Krys on the top pairing. Roslovic, Matthews, Tkachuk were a dominant line for the NTDP but as a top line at the World Juniors is asking too much IMO. They are '97s, they'll be underagers and their chemistry will only take them so far. Roslovic won't be a great player at the WJC against the best U20s. I don't think Roslovic should make the team because he's just not good enough. The 2nd line should be the 1st line IMO, all '96s with good amount of talent. Krys on the top-pairing will not work. He's small, a double underager and I don't think he should be playing big minutes against bigger, stronger players. He's not an exceptional player either. Matthews should play on a 2nd line where he is used as a secondary scorer, Larkin, Milano, Tuch are both more mature, older, and should be able to carry the offence for USA while Matthews is used in a secondary role where he doesn't have as much pressure.

I just don't think you can expect to put a NTDP line who played USHL/NCAA teams previously against national U20 teams and expect them to continue their production. It probably won't work because they are playing much better competition.

Sonny Milano - Dylan Larkin - Brock Boser
Matthew Tkachuk - Auston Matthews - Alex Tuch
Kyle Connor - Colin White - Jeremy Bracco
Erik Foley - Scott Eansor - Anders Bjork
Jack Roslovic

Defense (x7):

Noah Hanifin - Louie Belpedio
Zach Werenski - Brandon Carlo
Chad Krys - Ryan Collins
Charlie McAvoy

Goalies (x3):

Brandon Halverson
Alex Nedeljkovic
Evan Sarthou

Sonny Milano - Dylan Larkin - Brock Boser I see this a the first line if there all avaliable (talking about larkin).
I think on paper the look like the 2 or 3rd best team the fins on paper look sick

IMO, Mcavoy is going to have a very hard time dressing for BU ( if that's where he is playing )

BU returns Gryzlek, Sommerby, Hickey, Diffley, Mccloud, Fortunato, I think last years top 6 and Carrabino a sr., and Ryan a jr..

I just can't see him outplaying Mccloud or Fortunato anyway.

Dvorak will find his way in the end, to much fire power to leave him home.

Do we even know if Larkin and Milano would be available for this tournament? Both will be in the AHL (at least), it's very possible both DET and CBJ prefer them to play against men.

I don't know about Larkin, but i suppose Blue Jackets will allow Milano to play at the WJC(unless the number of injuries will not be like last year and Milano will not be playing TOP-6 at the end of December for this reason).

99% of the time unless a player is on an NHL roster they seem to think this tournament has value to their players and let them go.

McCavoy will 100% dress for BU and play top minutes. Saw him practicing live this week....

Grzelcyk is hurt to start the year, so that's not a problem. Carrabino barely played at all last year, he's irrelevant. TJ Ryan retired due to concussions. McAvoy should be able to out play Diffley or Fortunato to get playing time. All three play a similar type of game. Grzelcyk and Hickey are the team two best defensemen, and MacLeod/Somerby are the only physical, stay at home options.

Of course you don't! You're Canadian, it would probably KILL you to give the USA any credit or compliment them in any way. After all, this is "YOUR sport," and no one else has any business being good at it. Right?

He opened his post with a compliment:laugh:

I'm not sure why you are so upset.

I think you mean Francis, not Maloney. And why would he say something like that in September?

If Hanifin is playing a regular shift on the team and contributing, it's unlikely he would be the released.

Thanks for the correction. Keep thinking about the Yotes not taking Hanifin.

Players have been released before. No reason it can't happen again.

I just don't think it's wise to have your team lead by '97s. I don't overrate the age of players in this tournament but there's gotta be more '96s in that position even if they don't look as good in the pre-tournament and in camp because they'll be stable and consistent. There's some '96s who can get on that top line like Milano and Tuch who should be avaliable. I rather have them because they'll be stronger and more reliable.

For those more familiar with USA Hockey, any chance Alex DeBrincat makes the team?

Certainly possible. Jeremy Bracco almost made it last year and DeBrincat is probably better.

Great, thanks for your advice. USA Hockey is sure to take it under consideration. We know you have our best interests at heart and would love to hear from you again.

USA Hockey sure could use my advice with the recent results, no problem. :)
