Is that Alex Nylander's PP role with Steelheads?

Yes. On the younger national teams as well.

Edit: After watching some William highlights it appears he's playing on the half wall this year.

so how did Ollas Matsson make it but andersson and kylington didnt?

Ollas Mattsson is a good defender. Very big, physical and good defence skills. Safe with the puck. Regular in SHL.

Andersson and Kylington was fighting for spots vs skilled players like Aho, Forsling etc, not against gritty stay-at-home defenders like Ollas Mattsson, Englund etc.

Good news: TV12 will show the first exhibition game vs Denmark on dec 18. SVT (Play) to show the game vs Canada on dec 23.

So does ollas Mattsson actually have an nhl future then? Because I have barely heard anything good about the guy and was told to be a questionable skater

Doubtful. I would say his puck moving ability is underrated though, he's not just a pure defensive guy. His skating isn't his strongest asset but he is by no means a terrible skater. If he ever makes it to the NHL it's very likely going to be as a bottom pairing guy.

Was just about to ask, but they will play 3 exhibition games right?

I'm a bit upset by the Kovacs omission, but fine with leaving Kylington out. Glad that RG picked Timashov, hope he impresses and makes the team. I also think Axel Holmström will surprise quite a few hockey fans outside the Northern Sweden...

Yeah, hard not to be.

I don't know, I think RG went a bit Lasse Lagerbäck like someone said with this roster, but Swe U20 in the WCHs isn't the Swedish National Team in Soccer playing a major tournament...

I don't have any trouble with making tough decisions if you believe that a player wouldn't deliver. But the problem here is that Kovac has delivered. As I understand it, the last two tournaments he played in with this team he lead the team in scoring (he at least did it just a few weeks ago).

Kovac also always sticks out on the ice and gets involved and seem to play better the more there is at stake. That ability really seem to be valuable in the game right now...

Assuming Sandstrom and Soderstrom are the two main goalies Sweden uses, who would you guys project will be the starter?
Will probably split the group stage games, i would say now its 60-40 Sandström. Söderström has been injured this season and Sandström has been playing great this. Only thing which speaks for Söderström is that he was really good last year.

Any idea when the final roster will be announced. As a Habs' fan, I'm hoping that Vejdemo makes the team.

Just before the tournament start I think. If I got it right this is the roster that will go into the exhibition games. After that the cuts are made.

The way he has played he should make it. But I might be biased :D

Anton Karlsson has done basically nothing this year, can anyone give a scouting report and explain how he made it?

The last exhibition game for sweden is on the 23rd so most likely somewhere shortly after that

He made it only because he's been there twice already. For some reaon Grönborg still thinks he's one of the core guys in this age group. Karlsson hasn't made any progress the last two seasons.

Victor Hedman would never have made this team.

Call in Kovacs.

Lindblom - W. Nylander - Timashov
A.Nylander - Holmström - Kempe
Asplund - Eriksson Ek - Vejdemo
Olofsson - Forsbacka - Grundström
Kovacs

Just got my annual WJC Preview from The Hockey News. I was looking for some additional info on Team Sweden and curious to see what delicious nuggets of insight they had in store for me. Uh, actually they just had a full page article on Oskar Lindblom and one quote from Gronberg. That's it. No other players were mentioned. What the hell, THN?!

Well, at least I still have the good people at HF Boards to provide some actual information.
