1. Who is better now between Pujujarvi and Laine

2. Whos game will translate better in the NHL

3. Which NHL player would you compare Puljujarvi and Laine to

1. Currently - Puljujarvi
2. Laine, Much more straight-forward and less dependent on available ice surface
3. Pulju - Malkin lite, Laine - Ovechkin lite

Those are the best comparisons I can think. Puljujarvi can control the puck for extended periods of time and can occasionally clown the defenders and Laine has a lethal one-timer

I guess they finally figured out who the starting goalie should be.

Hell of a win for you guys today! Hell of a win! Tough first period but they kept their composure and fought back. Never down and out and kept their noses clean. Model way to win a big game like this. You should all be very proud.

I'm on the Finland train! Good luck!

Our defensive structure still sucks horribly. I don't think we can keep scoring at will against SWE, so they really need to get that figured out now. They've had more than enough time already. I also fear Jalonen might start Vehviläinen again.

Another roller coaster.

Thank the Maker we have PuLa-Aho. And thank Him too that Jalonen was smart enough to finally pull Vehviläinen.

If I'm brutally honest, I think Kähkönen could've maaaaybe caught couple of those that went to him, but as far as his overall game goes... I think we can say with some meager confidence, that the net is his now. No friggin' way Veini gets put back in. No way.

It's kinda sad though that we had to go this far for Jalonen to realize it too. I'm usually eager to defend the coach's decisions to the end, but now I have to say... he flubbed here. Luckily it didn't cost us the tournament.

There's surely no way in hell that Vehviläinen would start.

Virtanen played junior hockey with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and has represented Canada four times in international competition at the 2013 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, 2014 IIHF World U18 Championships , 2015 IIHF World U20 Championships, and 2016 IIHF World U20 Championships. He is often criticized with the throwing of the 2016 IIHF World U20 Championships quarter-final Canada vs Finland game by taking awful, deliberate, late game penalties ultimately costing Canada the game.

Thought you guys might get a kick our of Virtanen's updated Wiki entry.

Making his first appearance with the Canadian national team prior to the 2013–14 season, Virtanen joined the Under-18 squad for the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. Playing in a grinding role, Virtanen recorded one assist in five games as Canada won its sixth consecutive gold medal at the event which culminated with a 4–0 victory over the United States.[16]

A first round exit from the WHL playoffs by Calgary allowed Virtanen to make a second appearance with the national team as he played in the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championships.[1] He tied for the team lead in scoring with six points to help lead the Canadians to a bronze medal at the event.[4]

Virtanen showed great worthlessness by taking three power play penalties in Canada's loss to Finland in the 2016 World Jr. Championship.

Under intertnational play.

Sorry guys, not exactly roster talk but what do you think about Juusela? IMO maybe the worst commentator I've ever heard

I've though that after every game since the first. Call me jaded, but I half expect that Vehviläinen will start and they'll start using three forwards on the PK... For such an esteemed and successful coach, Jalonen is also such a moron sometimes...

This was the game of the tournament for us. But Sweden is completely different story right now. They have everything going for them, i honestly don't know how we're going to win that game.

But Laine is just so freaking good. Already the best Finnish sniper there has ever been IMO. Yes, even better than Selanne (not saying a better goalscorer yet, but his shot and lethality is the best i've seen from a Finn). If he can develop a mean streak and use his body even more then he could end up as the best offensive forward in our hockey history.

Also, whenever Saarela steps up his game he reminds me of Gallagher. He could be a very valuable guy for us down the road.

Anyway, before this tournament i said im happy if we can manage to play an entertaining game and avoid being frozen by all the pressure and needless to say, im happy :)

But against US/Sweden, realistically, this is not good enough. They have just as good of offensive game as we do right now combined with solid defense and better goaltending (Sweden in particular, they have a rock in net atm).

Enjoying the win now though, what a tournament already :handclap:

I particularly hate when he won't shut the **** up when they present the player awards.

Eagerly waiting for TSN to update their site so I can rewatch the game with Gord and Ferraro doing the play-by-play.

I've been too used to the awkard interviews by the mentally weak veteran players so it was refreshing to see how natural Puljujärvi, Laine, Saarela and Kähkönen were in their interviews.

Some golden Juusela moments today:
-6 secs on the clock, Canada player with the puck behind the net: ''FINLAND IS GOING TO THE SEMIFINAL''
- He calls Puljujärvi Pulju and Nättinen Nätti
- His tone doesn't change at all when the opposition scores
- Every penalty Finland receives is a bad one

I love the way Aho plays, fantastic poise and great puck skills. Juolevi is out of this world too.

I bought this. Was celebrating 6 secs before game ended.

- He calls Puljujärvi Pulju and Nättinen Nätti
Don't mind this

- His tone doesn't change at all when the opposition scores
Don't mind this either. Hate Martaranta's and co. negativity.

- Every penalty Finland receives is a bad one
This is an old classic. There is so few objective commentators.

5 seconds of dead air everytime Finland gets scored on

The good thing was that defence was little better on third period. Maybe they can continue from there against Sweden.
