You know, instead of running by personal fantasy, one of us is actually trying to predict Jalonen's moves based on what he's been doing for a while now.

For someone with your success rate with these kind of predictions, it would be smart to just stay quiet and see what the coach does. I'd say it's highly unlikely he just suddenly runs months' worth of experimenting to ground and cleans the sheet on the eve of the main event.

bah

those my lines would be best possible lines
for our team (skill wisely) as all national
teams should be built on,instead of our
usual way #noroleplayersthankyou

we have tons of goal scoring in this team
why not put all of them play together

using hintz in top 6 is ludicrous
so would be using kapanen

It certainly seems everybody's an expert these days.

Well... except Jalonen apparently, who seems to disagree with all this.

Well... Jalonen seems to disagree with all this.

indeed...

but like i posted earlier
these games have been tune up
games,wheres lots of experimenting

the lines used in these game
in my mind has nothing
to do with the actual lines
used in these worlds,

i have all the trust in Jalonen
i think he just wants to see
players play different roles
and see how they do

He's not gonna start with what you posted at least. Otherwise, you would have seen him try it already.

I don't personally agree with all of his choices either, but unlike you, I think there's more than one way to skin the cat.

I'd personally like those lines better if Saarela and Laine were other way around. But looks like the 98s are going to play in one unit.

Kapanen will likely stick to the top line for now, and no kicking and screaming can change that. I won't personally object if Jalonen figures another player is a better fit, but that just seems unlikely.

Laine-Aho-Pulju our 3rd line would probably be the best line, Rants is on fire right now and I don't want struggling Kapanen to play with him.

or he has already a line up, set up in his mind
so...reason why he hasn't tried that :)

i still trust jalonen that he makes
the right choices,when it comes
to line ups.

Hintz just isn't good
enough to play the top role,
size,speed,some grit, that's it
no natural scoring,playmaking skills.

Uhh... now I'm confused. Why were you complaining about Laine-Aho-Pulju then?

Was it because I had them listed as the 3rd line? If so, let it be said that among the top-9, the line numberings are pretty much irrelevant.

He hasn't bothered to try because he's so certain it will work? Because he can just dig that magical thing from inside his head and turn it into reality when the occasion truly calls for it? Uhh... yeah. Okay.

Listen... since I'm pretty sure either of us can't see inside his head, why don't we just wait 'til Boxing Day?

If like that they'd be the best line probably but I don't (likely) want that line to stay together.
And my complain is Rantanen with Kapanen.

Can someone please give me an overview on Saarela for this tournament? What line? What role on PP? Will he be on the PP Center or wing? Thank you from all of HFNYR.

Thus far, he's played wing, being centered by Anaheim prospect Nättinen. That line in the final team will be 2nd or 3rd, those two are pretty much interchangeable. Doesn't look like he'll have room in the PP units at all. Roope Hintz and Nättinen will be the playmakers and too much quality between Rantanen, Kapanen, Laine and Puljujärvi for other slots.

Seems like he will play in the middle-6 as a winger. I think it's 50-50 between him and Nättinen for the second powerplay, if the units posted earlier are any indication.

Thanks. Hopefully he can get on that PP at some point in the tournament. :whatever:

After reading about tonight's game, I'd go probably with something like:

Laine-Aho-Rantanen
Saarela-Hintz-Kapanen
Lammikko-Nättinen-Puljujärvi
Björkqvist-Siikonen-Repo
Tammela

Niku-Saarijärvi
Juolevi-Tuulola
Sopanen-Mikkola
Keskitalo

Kähkönen
Vehviläinen

Although I don't like Nättinen on third line. This would be the alternative:

Laine-Nättinen-Rantanen
Aho-Hintz-Puljujärvi
Lammikko-Saarela-Kapanen
Björkqvist-Siikonen-Repo

Struggling? He has been playing pretty well all year in the AHL.

Not for that role.
Rants has been beasting and is our leader, I want someone else than Kaps to play with him.
I also don't want to see Laine-Pulju on a same line.

*Saarela this season 10 goals 5 assists,as a center for Ässät
and is above 50% this season in face-offs
**Lammikko takes the face-offs
(Juho has been the best face-off taker
this season in the OHL,most face-off wins)
*** Hintz just 1 goal,4 assists (15)this season for HIFK,
why he should be the first line center?

I understand that scoring in SM-liiga is very important in your opinion when it comes to centers. But why does the same not apply to wingers? I mean if you use the same logic you would have Repo higher than Puljujärvi. The difference in PPG between these two is larger than between Saarela and Hintz.

Based on everything I've heard, my final lineup would look like this:

Kähkönen
Vehviläinen
Larmi

Niku - Saarijärvi
Juolevi - Tuulola
Mikkola - Sopanen
Keskitalo

Rantanen - Hintz - Kapanen
Saarela - Nättinen - Laine
Lammikko - Aho - Puljujärvi
Björkqvist - Siikonen - Repo
Tammela

that Laine goal on USA game is pretty much how i expect that line to play. Puljujarvi doing all the work, winning the usa player on a race and then winning the board battle and pass it to Aho who make great pass to Laine who takes the credit by shooting it in to goal.

Luckily we play vs Belarus first. Plenty of time to work out the lines if they don't work.

Don't forget to mention that Laine can't skate. :sarcasm:
