I haven't been following the tournament this year. What type of team do we have this year? Are there many role players or an all out talent with the best point producers?

Agreed.

With the amount of ice time that Virtanen and Marner get, their production had been disappointing.

Marner is a top offensive forward prospect and he's leading Chabot by one whopping point.

And Chabot is only a whopping 2 points behind Strome, and tied with Point, but lets leave them out of the conversation because they're not prospects of Canadian teams

Finland-Canada will be played in the Hartwall Arena, which has a bigger ice surface than the Ice Hall. How's the mobility and adjustment on team Canada? Bigger surface a pro, con?

It is a little late in the day to ask this kind of question. Your timing is also poor. Not sure if you are trying to be funny.

This is the wrong day to ask if you want a straight answer.

Con.

Has Konecny ever played badly with a Maple Leaf on his chest?

U18, Hlinka and now U20.

He is a kid who plays hard and with his heart on his sleeve every game... but he seems to crank it up ever more for Canada.

Would be nice to see him be a leader on the team next year... but I have a sneaking feeling he may well win a roster spot in the NHL out of camp... heck, he was one of the best players in the exhibition games this season for the Flyers!

Wrong. Bob McKenzie repeating this every year does not make it so. Look at the Finns and Americans.

This team plays pathetically and there is plenty of blame to go around. Lowry's failures have been covered. What I don't understand is this - late in the first and early in the second, Canada started playing physically and started to control the game. This was the first time Canada played this way all tournament, and it's the best they've looked. At some point they just stopped, and proceeded to meekly play out the game. It's mystifying.

On the positive side, very good games by Konecny and Marner. Easily the best two Canadian players. Lowry finds a way to mitigate that though by shortening the bench so that Konecny's line, which was pretty effective, stopped playing completely. Konecny did have a shift further up the lineup, but it was literally only one shift.

Who is the starting goaltender after Blackwood's mediocre performance? I'm hoping for Blackwood, mainly because McDonald's ineptitude has been consistent for months. There is at least a chance that Blackwood is just a bit rusty. McDonald just isn't good this year.

the only positive is my New Year's Eve spicy chili turned out amazing. beers are on ice and am ready to party. Happy New Year.

My vote for Captain of next year's team. But he'll most likely being earning a paycheck in the NHL and unavailable to us.

Before the draft, I said that if I had to pick one player from the 2015 draft to put on the ice in a SCF Game 7 with a minute left and a goal down, it would be Konecny, not McDavid or Eichel or Marner. I stand by that. Konecny gets up for big games. I know everyone likes to say that about their prospects, but Konecny really does.

Canada should have invited Senyshyn. That kid is a finisher.Wait till next year ;) .Pierre Luc Dubois is a horse to at 17.Never really had much of a chance this year. But he can do it all and next year is gonna be a beast at this tourney.

I've liked his play.

I'd also like to see how he'd do with Marner. Marner just needs a linemate that can get him the puck and create some space. Konecny's speed and tenacity on the forecheck might be able to do that well - plus he has skill to boot.

I always HATE when other country's fans blame the coach but there is blame here. There seems to be no control over the players.

Anyway, it's been a long day of hockey - none of it good. Time to put it to rest until Jan 2nd. Let's hope 2016 brings us some luck.

Not even close imo. He hasn't shown up this tourney and he really needs to if we are gonna do well.

did u even read his post. he said this game, not the entire tournament. In his regard, he is right. Marner was the 2nd best forward today. And yes I agree he has not been the best this tournament, but in reality the entire team has been pretty awful and underwhelming. If Marner was not the 2nd best forward today, please name me a player who was other than Konecny.

Konecny works hard but at end of the day he is not scoring goals either..Thats been Canada's achilles so far.No finish.Others could argue defence is not superior as past teams but I stand by finish.

Yeah, I wasn't saying they were only offensive players, I was saying that offensively they were the best two.

But even if Lowry doesn't trust them defensively, he should still be using them where they absolutely are the best on the team, at creating offense from the blueline. He's not doing that and it's hurting the team.

And Sanheim has yet to be on the ice for a goal against the whole tourney..yet seems to be on the shortest leash.

Marner-Konecny really should have been the 4 on 4 pairing Lowry used today. They were both easily Canada's two best forwards

Why is this not the right time? You and some others are here still posting no? It's an honest question and if you don't want to answer, don't. No need to make an issue about it.
