Best game of the tournament for the Canadians. Gritty physical, and we are controlling 5v5 play. Just need to get out of the box. It'd be 1-0 Canada if not for the stupid penalties.

You know what I don't care the result of this game. We will build off this, we are finally playing like Canadians.

If we can't stay out of the box, we are dead. Plain and simple. The Fins will eat us alive on the PP.

Well said.

I called it months ago...damn I always get this tournament right...well, 95% of the time anyway. :)

Already looking forward to next year.

Better COACH, please.

Better COACH, please.

I don't understand why he can't control this team. I won't blame the coach, tho. The players aren't stupid. They know they can't take penalties yet we do.

Anyway, let's hope the 3rd period is better than the 2nd - which was pretty darn good.

I don't think he wants to. This is merely a training exercise for next year. Hockey Canada's only goal these days is not lose the home tournaments. Go all in at home, and when in Europe, send a younger. youngish team to prep it for the following year back in Canada.

Struggling in the 3rd.

No excuses, boys. If we lose, it is because we weren't good enough.

Asked this in the GDT, but how did Lowry get the coaching gig? Aren't there much more worthy coaches? Hockey Canada just be like "ugghh let's draw names from a hat?"

Edit: His junior coaching stats are really nothing to brag about.

He was an assistant coach with last year's Gold Medal winning team. He wanted the gig and he got it. I only hope he's one and done.

This team is going to go down as the 3rd worst team in history for Canada at this tournament. A loss to Finland would leave us 6th (tied with '92) and ahead of '98 (8th). Along with those two years, this will be the third time we've finished with a losing record.

This is, of course, since 1982 and the beginning of the Program of Excellence (true national team).

Watching these players it's like they've never played before. Everyone just chases the puck, nobody makes themselves available for a pass, nobody can make a pass that's there, always 2 steps behind the Swedes in this game.

Never adjusted to the Hybrid ice. Will be lucky to see the semis.

I think 3 major things need to change. 1 Canada needs to improve its coaching selection process. Pick one head coach and build a program with that coach.

Canada needs to adapt a philosophy and identity and stick to it. Every year it's something different. I understand you have a different team every year, but that doesn't mean that your teams core values should vary so much.

Go back to the old way of selecting players. Like when Brent Sutter was the head coach. Have a bigger selection camp and allow the guys to out play each other and take the best guys from the camp. Now a days these teams are already picked pretty much before the camp. This is especially true with the goaltenders, bring 4 or 5 goaltenders to camp instead of just relying on two.

Agree with this part for sure.
