-They need to get Dermott away from Sanheim so Sanheim can play more. More Sanheim without having to endure more Dermott.
- Chabot's shot has always sucked. It's his biggest weakness, but other than a small stretch, he has been impressive. Needs less minutes though.

- Marner = Kadri, Virtanen = Isbister
- Konecny?? The guy is a winner. Get him out there.

Agreed.

After 3 games.

Strome and Barzal have been Team Canada's best players by a fair margin IMO.

I also like how Blackwood stood up today when the game was tied after a shaky start. And Crouse emerged when he was given a bigger role.

Lowry really needs to lay the foot down on long shifts. Didn't like what I saw there.

This is so confusing. We all know that shorter shifts keep everyone engaged and fresher.

In what world should Hicketts have a 3 minute shift in OT.

Very poor effort from Canada today. They'll get pasted by Sweden if the play like this on NYE. Lowry deserves much of the blame as the tools seem to be in place for this to be a good edition of Team Canada, but his management of the bench has been a glaring deficiency for anyone paying attention. Its actually very reminiscent of the Spott-led 2013 squad.

Firstly, Point, Marner, Strome, and a few others shouldn't be playing shifts upwards of 1:30 on a regular basis. Marner in particular was obviously gassed in the 3rd period and his play suffered. Clearly he didn't watch the 2014 Olympics when Babcock strictly held his players to 40-45 second shifts. Secondly, Hicketts and Chabot were clearly overplayed on the back-end of back to back games, and again their play suffered.

Secondly, the line combinations were again very questionable. Quenneville blew the coverage on the first Swiss PP goal, but then was rewarded with a load of ice time in the remainder of the first. I'm glad he was finally removed from a top-6 role in the 2nd period, but was replaced by Chartier who hasn't been all that effective. Meanwhile, Konecny (who was one of Canada's better forwards throughout the camp and the first two games of the tournament) was stapled to the bench for the latter half of the game. The Barzal line has been really good but, again, their ice time is limited by the top six players chewing up huge chunks of time every time they're on the ice.

Overall, Strome and Barzal have been our best two players. I was impressed by Gauthier today, and thought he had a strong offensive game. I also thought Crouse had an extremely strong game and should probably be a fixture on Strome's LW from here on out. Point and Marner were very poor today, Marner was very weak on the puck and turned the puck over seemingly every shift.

Virtanen's play, and his continued usage on the first line is inexcusable and embarrassing at this point. I don't care if he's a returnee and loaned from the NHL, he's not good enough to be in our top six and should be relegated to energy line/13th forward duties.

On defense, I was impressed by Sanheim and Dermott whenever they were on the ice but, again to be my point above, ice time was hard for them to come by with Hicketts being Lowry's go-to guy and on the ice every second shift.

When this time inevitably gets bounced in the quarters I won't at all be surprised.

Just went and re-looked...Hicketts played 4:15 of the 5 minute OT....and there were no whistles.

"They seem pretty average. Knew they were young, but thought they'd be better than they've been after 4 periods.

Could easily see a couple of unimpressive wins here and vs. Switzerland, followed by a defeat to Sweden and going out with a whimper in the QF against Finland."

This post from yesterday (when tied 1-1 after 1 with Denmark) seems still pretty on point. Unless several guys step up their game multiple levels, this team will not be playing for a medal.

I think there's a problem when a player like Chabot gets as much minutes (and he totally deserved them, no questions asked) on Team Canada. Like, there really should be a better player than him available for regular duties (but there isn't).

I agree with everything you said. Even though, the shifts are coache's thing and if it works, ok. But I would rather be for the 45 sec. shifts for everyone, yes.

One thing I disagree, though. I think Virtanen was actually good with Strome.

Not saying we've played well but we also haven't gotten any bounces. Not an excuse, just a fact. I never watched the game but, from what I heard, the third U.S. goal was off a D-Man. Both Swiss goals (today) were "fortunate". We need some of that luck. We need a break so this team starts believing in itself. We need a puck to bounce our way.

If that happens, I could see this team going on a run. If not, unless the Czechs surprise the Fins, it will be a long way to Gold and a loss in the Quarter is a definite probability.

Pierre Luc Dubois should of made that team.He is better then Gautier too.Same as Garland not making States or invite.POLITICS.

So now you guys see what I was saying after the first game. I wasn't saying it because Sanheim is a Flyers prospect, I was saying it because I know what he can do and how valuable that is to any team he's on.
