This won't play well in Sweden: Andre Burakovsky sent to the AHL by the #caps shortly after being made unavailable for the world juniors.

Well, that sure is a jerk move.

I wouldn't be letting my NHLers play in that tourney, but if you are just going to have the guy play in the AHL anyways??? Just let the kid represent his country.

Screw the main WJC as of now, let's talk about the more interesting lower divisions.

In DIA: Was really competitive, but Belarus has already been promoted while Slovenia got relegated. Surprised by the Italians, having a solid tournament, beat Latvia today and Austria yesterday. This might be a change in development to lead off all those Canadian import players.

In DIB: Kazakhstan has been promoted. Poland started the tourney horribly, but beat Japan and now France, can finish on a good note. Also Japan has the leading scorer in Yushiroh Hirano, around PPG player in SuperElite in Sweden (which is really good). Probably doesn't have NHL talent, but good enough to be a top 6 forward in Europe. A step in the right direction for Japan.

In DIIA: Already happened a couple weeks ago, but Great Britain promoted. Very competitive group, but wasn't able to watch any games due to time difference and had to pay for standard def. The Chamberline - Cowie - Hook line lead them to promote, unstoppable. Also look for Samuel Duggan for GB, could very well be a drafted player for 2016 draft. Romania got relegated.

In DIIB: It is a two headed race to the finish with Croatia and Spain tied in 1st place, each team plays each other on the last day of the tournament on the 20th. A Belgian in Brian Henry leading the group in points, having a solid season in Junior A Mestis (Finland). One interesting note, Australia played against Serbia and won 4-2....but Aussie's goaler Charlie Smart stopped 65 of 67 shots. LOL. No joke, http://stats.iihf.com/Hydra/456/IHM456908_74_3_0.pdf
And then on Australia, there is a player who probably has one of the coolest hockey names since Klinkhammer, Saxon Air. Iceland is probably going to be relegated.

 sure

Two things,

- If you're a fan of the game of hockey, you'll be able to watch any game either if it is Russia vs Sweden or Australia vs Serbia.

- some of the lower divisions are more competitive than the real divisions, even if the talent level isn't there.

I'm starting to question your loyalty as a Canadian to hockey.

some of those lower level international hockey games are absolutely awesome (from entertainment perspective).

D1A/D1B I can get into. D2/D3... I just can't. There is some really bad hockey played there. Like WSHL bad...

Is there many Avs prospects participating? Didn't see Bigras name, a little dissapointed.
If someone can make a list with Avs prospects and their respective teams in the tournament, It would be greatly appreciated.

Either Russia's team is terrible or Canada is just going to steam roll this tournament. After the opening 5 minutes Canada has completely dominated them. Only reason it's going to ot is because sorkin is playing like Varly.

50 shots and this is without McDavid and Lazar.

... and Russia win. Thanks to terrible goaltending somethings never change. ha

Preliminary roster for U.S. National Junior Team trimmed by three with F Adam Erne, F Michael McCarron and D Jack Dougherty being released.

Dal Colle, Dickinson, Fleury and Chartier cut from Canada.

Canada cuts Fleury so it was pretty much Hicketts who bumped out Bigras. Crouse also makes the team, he's the only other draft eligible. He's my prediction if the Avs draft a top 10 forward.

Really surprised at Erne, he had a decent game tonight. Didn't really think Dal Colle was on the bubble either. At least Butcher made it. That means Werenski did too. Lotsa window shopping for us in the WJC.

Or is USA not done cutting yet?

Sweden did not like Caps sending Burakovsky to the AHL after having not made him available for the WJC. They are going to fight for him now they say.

Bad organization move IMO. Not sure what the Swedish hockey can do about it though.
