I agree. If Cam doesn't have to carry the puck into the o-zone, and if he doesn't have to play a cycle game is where Cam is best. He needs a lot of open ice. Once the D confronts him inside the blue line more often than not the puck is going the other way.

I hate to trade him or give up on him because he does have a good shot when the situation is right for him.

I'd think Cam is one of the better players on this team when it comes to zone entries.

Only if he has space. He is also predictable to loop back when he does have space and wait for the trailer to pass to. Once in a while he will try to take it to the net.

I'm not trying to bash the guy and he is our best option at right wing, so unless we have someone coming back or able to step into his role, trading him is another crapshoot.

Well I could be wrong but I think he curls back and connects with the trailer with more success than most of our players do with their dump and chase.

I may be being too critical of him. I guess I would like for him to be something he isn't.

A month ago I was impressed by the calm manner in which the FO seemed to be approaching this trade deadline. Word was no big moves, nothing dramatic. Maybe a little fine tuning. And that seemed consistent with a young team but a mature Front Office that was dedicated to building a strong foundation the right way, one brick at a time.

Now, Wiz is up to be traded, Letestu, Cam, Anisimov, "any d man not named Murray of Savard" ....... etc. Now it seems like the FO is in a panic mode, grasping for anything and everything that is "different".. The franchise looks like a car being driven by a drunk down a winding mountain road. Not at all impressed by the change in tone of the FO.

To be fair, we don't know how much of that is baseless speculation.

And have any of those trades actually happened?
