More concerned with moving Letestu and/or Atkinson foe way under value because there has been "no traction" in contract talks combined with the trades that have already been made.

Well i've considered them pretty much gone anyway, with lack of news of contracts and such, i think they get moved regardless, which again is another concern of trading even if its not a good deal

I have been criticized for my dislike of the FO's public stand this trade season. They really seem to be telegraphing their punches. While some posters have said this is all just rumors, things like not negotiating with Letestu or Atkinson makes it clear to opposing teams we have already decided we want to move them. This weakens our negotiating position. Same with never denying the public reports that we want to get rid of Wiz.

It seems JK makes trades because he decides he wants to move people rather than because he has good offers for them. Net effect is he executes the trade just to get rid of a player not because of the value that he gets in return. His trading record is rather abyssmal. Perhaps this is why.

We are getting into a difficult spot where teams who wanted to make trades have made them. We were likely pushing for bigger returns. Teams went other directions. Are we happy keeping players? Or will we trade them for what's left on the market?

If we go for the later, today could become very, very frustrating.

How would you like them to "hide it" at the deadline? There was a report I saw that Atkinson was trying to get another contract. Would you prefer that the front office negotiate in bad faith. They both might be gone, but Atkinson is a RFA - there is no necessity to negotiate yet. That signals nothing.

The league is fully of players that are upcoming UFA's that weren't negotiated with to deceive the NHL. This post is total bunk.

As far as Wiz, did our beat writer seek comment?

I have yet to see/hear the front office say anyhing, so I don't know how they have telegraphed anything.

@TheFourthPeriod: Our friends at @TSNHockey (h/t @TSNRyanRishaug) saying Voynov rumor is not true. Not sure how you'd trade a suspended player.

This is what I was getting at with my post earlier. How committed are you to trading a player you might not re-sign? Enough to trade them for a poor return just because? I guess I don't know.

EDIT:
I will add that this sets up nicely to dovetail with whatever narrative you've already bought - that Jarmo is being conservative or that he got caught holding the bag. Of course, he could still do something bold, which will likely dovetail nicely into whatever narrative you've already bought, too.

Looks like the market dried up early. Oh well. I got excited about what we could get for Atkinson but a safe deadline with only Leopold and Letestu moved is fine by me.

It will be interesting. I think Cam and Letestu could go for cheap due to the Buyer market dwindling, but I think the price on Wiz is where it is. I think Wiz is being shopped purely because of how good the prices are, so if the FO isn't happy with the value they are getting they won't move him.

I have no issue possibly not signing Letestu and missing out on a 3rd round pick. He's the only player in this situation.

We'll sign Cam or trade him later if it comes to that, we won't lose him.

I'm more concerned if we are committed to trading Wiz or another D.

They don't have to use words to "say" something. Refusing to negotiate with either Atkinson or Letestu sends a clear message. Saying nothing to refute all of the published rumors that they want to move Wiz says a lot. "Silentum" est consentum".

we're running out of places to send guys...

Petry to Mtl, done

This is what I'm thinking.

I think we'll be more active at the draft/off-season when cap is not as much of an issue. Most guys being moved are impending UFA's. Uncertainty about the cap is probably hurting moving a guy like Wiz at 5.5 for the next 2 years.

Trading Wiz to me is odd because he is very affordable. 5 million next year. 3 the year after.

He got totally screwed with the timing of the lockout and his suspension. He piled most of his money into those years.

Agree with others...Atkinson is an RFA so the lack of contract discussions don't worry me if they don't move him now. I think the way it is going just the UFAs will be moved...Letestu and Leopold...and maybe C-Mac.

I will not be upset if Cam, Wiz, AA, Letestu or any of the plugs(Skille, Leopold) go. I will however be extremely upset if they get rid of Calvert. It's a crappy feeling today, being sellers instead of buyers, like the last 2 years. I was excited in past trade deadline days to see what we were going to get for the push, now I'm just stressed about who they are going to dump.

Skille is on IR and out for the remainder of the season..we shall get nothing for him at the trade deadline :snakehead

Didn't that happen with another guy the CBJ wanted to move five or six years ago where he was destined to be a trade deadline move and got injured and lost for the remainder of the season just before the deadline? I want to say it was a d-man but my mind is sketchy on this.

There is no way CMac is moved without getting a goalie back in some fashion today. None of our AHL guys are going to be anywhere close to ready next season. CMac knows his role, isn't *****ing about ice time, is a team-first guy, and has performed very well with Bob's numerous injuries the last 2 years. And he's cheap. I don't see a better option available. I would be fine with him coming back.

All I know is that the following people need to be publicly suspended upside-down and flogged:
- Media members who tweet things on deadline day like "BREAKING: Aaron the intern just went to get more bagels and coffee for everyone #nhltradedeadline"

Go **** yourself.

That is all.
