Kylington and Konency, imo. A couple others too.

Anyway, if we are not making playoffs, I wanna see Ottawa unload players at deadline for more picks.

We could still scout out a beauty of a player in late 1st/2nd round.

How amazing would it be if we got an Eichel/Hanifin though? I still believe our scouts can do a brilliant job and pick up star asset else where in top 10 too.

Would be amazing. Doubtful though.

Oilers are a dumpster fire. Bottom 5 finish for sure. Most likely bottom 3.

Sabres are a bottom 5 team as well. Then there are the Flyers, Jackets Avs and Hurricanes.

Sens will most likely finish between 6-11.

The lottery though ;)

I wonder what would it take to move up into the top 20, I would love to have two first round picks in this draft.

BM wants size going forward, I don't think BM would want a 5'9 forward honestly.

I know, and I understand where he comes from with that thinking, but looking at the NHL right now, I still speed and skills are the key to winning, size plays a factor, but not as much as before. Look, everyone loves to have centres like Kopitar, Getzlaf, Thornton, Kesler, but these guys are so hard to find.

I sure hope we get one like that, but we cannot pass on clearly better player simply based on size.

Not talking about trading, if our current play continues, we will get there..

He probably got confused being that you actually said trading instead of drafting

Yup, I asked about him earlier, if we end up trading between 5-10, likely to happen, I would hope to draft Zacha, but it depends what he compares to other centres. Konecny should be real good too, but a little small. That being said, I remember historically lots of mistakes made at the draft due to size. So we should just draft best players.

Hypothetically, what would you guys be willing to give up for 1st overall?

Depends where we are drafting. If we're top 10 not much.

McDavid would be really sweet but there's loads of talent there. I just don't see the assets here either.

Honestly I think getting a high draft pick in this year may be the best thing.

We just need a dynamic offensive centre to help out this team.
Imagine in 2-3 years

Hoffman-Strome/Zacha/Marner/McEichel(if lucky)-Ryan
Macarthur-Turris-Zibanejad
Chiasson-Lazar-Stone
Smith-Pageau-Condra

Looks damn good.

Strome is 100% my top choice and I hope he falls out or the top 5 to wherever we end up picking, I'm also really excited for our 2nd picks to see who we can steal with those.

I can't wait for the Methot situation to be resolved one way or another, because if we decide to move him, that could be another 1st for us to play with.

If Murray and co. got Getzlaf/Perry in mid/late 2003, and Karlsson in mid 2008--both deepest drafts in past decade--what can he do with potential top 10 pick? And maybe another one? Gets me excited.

This could very well be the draft to set us up for next decade as contender.

You know what I can see happening? Sens going after RNH/Draisatil if Oil nab mceichel.

Based on December we will know. This team could be way down the standings by 2015. Its a tough schedule.

The problem with going after guys like RNH is that you have to give up something really nice to get them. There's no point bringing in a guy like RNH if you have to trade someone like a Zibby, Hoffman or Ryan to get him. You just exchange one hole in the roster for another.

This.

Unless we want to part with Karlsson, I doubt our players hold a lot of value for a McEichel pick.

Yeah. Would have to be monstrous.
Starts at karlsson then moves to Turris or zib. Then probably goes to Lehner.

I wonder if Andy+ could get us another decently high first round pick. I know goalies aren't superbly valuable and all that but he could stabilize a number of franchises.

I would easily give up one of these players for RNH. If it's both I'd ponder it heavily... RNH is on another level entirely.

Agreed. The only thing holding back RNH from being a star 75+ point center is the team he's stuck on.

You'd probably have to give up both, and our first round pick. But then you have another problem....you bring in a guy like RNH to play with some top flight wingers, but then you have to trade away those top flight wingers to bring in RNH....

I could see us ending up 5th.things are so tight that 4 or 5 points is going to be the difference between 5 to 10th pick imo.
our team is going to be real good in a couple years regardless of where we finish this year.
i wouldnt be very disappointed to end up lower.

That having been said after mceichel and hannofin (sp?)
Is there another group of 3 or 4 forming a tier below? Or is it the next 10 guys are all really good and no real separation?

Sure getting rid of Hoffman would hurt, but I have to think that RNH and Ryan would do well, assuming you'd keep Mac and Stone with Turris (a great second line trio)

Zib can play on the wing, but essentially RNH is a big upgrade at centre over Zib, so it's not like we're losing a top end winger in Mika.

We'd still need a first line left winger, but all in good time. Get the elite talent and fill the holes after.
