Man, seeing Dallas struggling this year makes me REALLY regret us not nabbing their 1st in the Spezza trade.

I mean really, a 1st seemed like a prerequisite for any team we were trading Spezza to. Management screwed the pooch on that one.

Pavel Zacha any good? Heard his name some time ago, not sure still a top prospect.

Yup looks like he's slated 5-10 but I think there will be a run on centers,

There's at least 12 guys that play Center in junior with first round grading.

I think a lot teams will be drafting on needs this year with the talent.

Not a huge market for extremely one-dimensional, injury prone centers approaching the age where players tend to regress. And that market was made even smaller by Spezza using his NTC to veto any teams showing interest that he didn't fancy. The fact that he turned down Nashville, a team now sitting at the top of the Western Conference, is all that really needs to be said. Unfortunately for us Dallas was likely the only option.

There's no way we get Dallas' 1st in the deal given the terrible spot we were put in. Given the emergence of Nick Paul, there's not really a lot to complain about with the deal. Two valuable young powerforwards and a high 2nd round pick is damn good value for a guy who will likely go the way of Brad Richards and Vinny Lecavalier in a few years.

Picked a team that everyone thought we be contending in the west

Vetoed a team that most people thought would be right where they are every year. Yep. All that needs to be said alright.

There are only four prospects id love if Ottawa pick

1. Kylington: He'd be a great compliment to Karlsson which would leave Ceci on the second paid and have Cowen as his partner.

2. Hanifin: He's even better than Ekblad and he's a left handed shot.

3. konecny: He's a high end offensive guy who plays in our backyard, if he were 6 feet he'd easily be a top 3 guy, the fact that he's slipping makes it possible for us to grab him and run

4.Rantanen: He's a big guy whos can play all three positions, sure he's a bit of a project but we're paitient when it comes to developing forwards.

Honourable mentions go to: Dylan Strome (ive seen him rated as low as 14), Pavel Zacha.

maybe its me but id love for the Sens to pick a goalie somewhere in this draft.

Not including Eichel and McDavid for obvious reasons?

The luck this team has i would bet a good sum of money they would lose the lottery draft in high-larious fashion finishing last.

At this point I would be shocked if this team came anywhere close to a playoff spot so sometimes i find myself wishing i could just fast forward the season to see how low they finish, there appears to be a ton of young talents in this draft, this team and city needs some good fortune ASAP!

Well currently sitting with the 9th pick at this point. We seem to always never be really good enough to make a real impact in the playoffs, and never bad enough to get a high pick to make a real impact for this team.

McDavid
Eichel
Hanifin
Werenski
Kylington
Strome
Marner
Zacha
Barzal

There might be 10 top 5 talents available in this draft. Even if we were to draft 9th overall, I have no doubt this team's scouting staff would be able to find a very good player.

Besides McDavid, Eichel and Hanifan, will the other players that are projected to go top 10 be able to immediately jump into the nhl?

Well after some thorough YouTube scouting....
Zacha is big. And fast. And can release a puck like crazy. Maybe him? We need a center. So that all I'm focused on right now

Kylington and Konency, imo. A couple others too.

Anyway, if we are not making playoffs, I wanna see Ottawa unload players at deadline for more picks.

We could still scout out a beauty of a player in late 1st/2nd round.

How amazing would it be if we got an Eichel/Hanifin though? I still believe our scouts can do a brilliant job and pick up star asset else where in top 10 too.

Yup, I asked about him earlier, if we end up trading between 5-10, likely to happen, I would hope to draft Zacha, but it depends what he compares to other centres. Konecny should be real good too, but a little small. That being said, I remember historically lots of mistakes made at the draft due to size. So we should just draft best players.

BM wants size going forward, I don't think BM would want a 5'9 forward honestly.

For sure, we need high-end skills and speed, I don't think we have enough of these in the organization now. I think we have drafted well, but recently I start to think we focused too much on size and height, look at Wiercioch, Cowen, Gryba, Greening for example.

We missed out on Ryan Strome. Would be awesome to grab Dylan. Who seems better then his bro, and is a Centre to boot. 2nd times the charm with a Strome?
